I was having a look at how fast some other Internet speeds are, and wondered, now I have BT Infinity how I measured up.

http://speedtest.net/result/2243600950.png

That's wireless connection, I've got about 70mb on the landline downstairs. Though Virgin Media does up to 100mb (mostly 70-80mb on the fibre optic round here).

Anyone elses?

At the res, you have to use an ethernet cable to connect to the internet and it's quite slow. Takes me upwards of 4 hours to download a football match. Took me 1 hour at most back home.

Done it twice. Once a minute ago and once about two hours ago - same result pretty much. This is with wireless. I'm going to use the Ethernet cable later on and see what I can get. I don't know why I'm in London either, though. I selected Edinbra'.

The thing is, my mate did it once and he was getting like 60mbs for download speed - but I don't consider mine as slow, though I don't really download anything. Is there really that much of a difference?

Yeah, obviously 51MB difference, although, unless you download large files, you won't notice a difference.

Does not really affect me. Browsing speed (Bar last 2 days) is fine and get minimal lag on PS3. Only time im notice is is when downloading a film or something but its managable

I wouldn't be able to live with that. I download football matches a lot plus download recent episodes of my favourite TV shows so downloading is my primary usage. Hence why I hate my connection. Mine back home has 4 times the speed.

Would be about 10-15 Mbit faster if it wasn't for us running our TV through the broadband.

Have been with Tiscali/TalkTalk since day one but have always rented the line from BT, was getting d/l speeds of 12mb. Last month i decided to move the line rental to TalkTalk as well to make the bills easier to pay and now my speed is this.

http://www.speedtest.net/result/2245805193.png

Been thinking of upgrading to their 75mb fibre package, but its obviously slightly dearer (£15 a month more) and its awkward atm having anyone in during the day for them to come in and set it up. Though i would get 'expected' speeds of 64mb d/l and 18mb u/l.

If you are running under a meg ring up your ISP and complain each time as it is sub-broadband speeds and they are actually breaking contract by suppling you at that speed. Make sure you keep track on your speeds over a few days also
