This file will need to be re-applied if/when official patches/updates are released to ensure full compatibility. This is due to the fact that some files which are removed when installing this file are automatically re-installed by Steam when official updates come out.
Club names are only changed if you apply the editor data files before starting a new game. For a workaround if you've already started a new save-game, then please read the opening post of this thread.
The sortitoutsi real names fix changes the instances of fake names in Football Manager 2026 to the proper, real life names for awards, cities, stadiums and competitions, in cases where the actual name is not licensed. It will also fix the fact that the German National team doesn't call up real players. These fixes are all fully save-game compatible.
Follow the below instructions to install this version of this file.
Once you download this file, you’ll see these folders after extracting the ZIP:

STEP 1.
If you are playing an FM23 or FM24 save in FM26, then this fix needs to be also installed in the folders in the below image IN ADDITION TO THOSE INDICATED BELOW the image:

DELETE only the dbc , edt and lnc folders

You have to click “show packaged contents” on the fm.app and game_plugin.bundle folders. This basically means that you need to right-click (or Control + click) on fm.app (or game_plugin.bundle) and choose Show Package Contents that lets you open up the folders inside the app icon.
Here’s how to do it on Mac:
1. Open Finder.
2. Press Command + Shift + G to bring up “Go to Folder.”
3. Copy and paste this path, then hit Enter:
~/Library/Application Support/Steam/steamapps/common/Football Manager 26/fm.app/Contents/PlugIns/game_plugin.bundle/Contents/Resources/shared/data/database/db/2600
Once you’re in both the db/2600 and db/2620 folders, that’s where you drop the real name fix files and don’t forget to restart FM afterwards so the changes take effect.

COPY the 4 files located in the EDITOR DATA folder in the downloaded pack
STEP 5
PASTE to \Documents\Sports Interactive\Football Manager 26\editor data
This is also the same folder to be used for Gamepass.
Equivalent folder for Mac
Follow these steps to correctly place the editor data folder for Football Manager 26 on macOS.
1. Open Finder.
2. Press Command (⌘) + Shift + G to open the Go to Folder window.
3. Copy and paste the following path, then press Enter:
~/Library/Application Support/Sports Interactive/Football Manager 26/
4. If you don’t see an editor data folder, create one manually.
The folder name must be exactly:
editor data
(all lowercase, with a space)
5. Make sure the editor data folder is inside the Football Manager 26 directory. Not in Documents, Public, or anywhere else.
6. Place the downloaded .fmf files (for example, from the Real Name Fix or other mods) into this editor data folder.
7. Restart Football Manager 26, and when starting a new game, ensure the files are ticked/selected under Database → Editor Data Files.

My method is always - delete these 3 folders (dbc, edt, lnc) from every ‘folder with number’ (every 26.0, 26.2 and other similar folders) and paste 3 folders from fix. And make sure to select all editor data files when creating a new game through advanced setup.
If something was not working, it was because due to my mistake, not the fix.
That's why me and mons are sometimes tired of reminding everyone how to apply the fix, because when you dive deeper into individual issues, 95% of them is applying the fix wrong (which can be solved by watching 250 youtube videos on how to do it or following the main post).
And because folders on mac are similar to windows, I sometimes wish the players would record the process of downloading, copy/pasting and launching the game.

I've finally managed to get it working this morning!
Basically put the game in out of box condition and then followed the instructions, but only copied into 26.2 as i'll only be using this going forwards.
Only slight issue I have now, which others have alluded to is the default logo's are shown in the dressing room as opposed to the download pack.

When starting a new save after the latest update of the game, i also had the problem of everything working except from Napoli and some spanish teams.
I have been using the real name fix for many years and never had this problem before.
This might be obvious for many, but you need to tick the boxes next to the editor files when setting up a new save.

I've done fix, but Inter Milan team is not showing custom kits, only default. ID is OK
AC Milan is showing right custom kits.
Also Serie A logo is default.

Seems the 26.2 update broke something again regarding to the history shown for staff roles through editor files. Doesn’t matter which Ajax file you use, either from here or from somewhere else, certain staff members have their most recent role wrongly displayed in their history 😅
They are fixing one thing, and manage to break something else lol

Hi everyone, I'm new to downloading the files, applying them etc. I just wanted to say, I think I've downloaded & applied the file correctly, however I still have a handful of teams in Spain that are not appearing as they should, which isn't a big deal as I'm currently playing as York City in L2. I have not applied the optional fix regarding the # in the notepad due to the nickname issue. Can somebody explain to me what does that mean in my save? I'm confused when a nickname would be used, in media/press articles, in matches with live scores etc? Can somebody give me an example of what a save would look like with nicknames VS without?
Finally, the club badge's icon is known issue that SI have done since the last update I believe, thank you in advance!

Can someone please help me. I’ve downloaded the fix , the names are still the same. people say it’s save compatable but all serie a teams still showing fake names. If I go to start new save the update has worked - is there anything I can do as really don’t want to start new save . cherrs !!

Then you've not installed the fix correctly, I fear. This fix works for both new games and existing careers. Please provide screenshots of the in-game issue, and screenshots of all the folders that the fix was installed in. In the screenshots, please make sure the full path is clearly visible.
