How dare he join a better club than you for more money to play Champions League football. What an inexplicable move.

Kagawa is superb - as is Carrick who can pass as well as anybody.

Man Utd have no real powerhouse in there, in the Yaya Toure mould.

Trust me, we're far more desperate for creativity from the deep in 90% of games than we are Fellaini, Yaya Toure or any 'powerhouse'. I'd argue even if we sign Fellaini there's plenty of games I'd much rather see Cleverley alongside Carrick than him. The lack of real creativity and ability to retain possession from deep is the number one reason why we often look so turgid.

Join a club that has better players in the same position which would give him limited first team football. And join that club especially after he passed the fucking medical at Spurs.

What's wrong with Carrick and Cleverley for creativity from deep?

I know Cleverley is more advanced than Carrick but surely he's not an attacking midfielder in the traditional sense? Kagawa has that covered anyway.

The only downside to Willians move is that he'll have competition for a regular place. However, Mourinho has always been someone who likes 2 players for every position.

Besides that, he's getting a better salary, joining a better side and will be playing CL football. Outside of that, he's been someone Chelsea have been chasing for the last couple of seasons and tried to sign him prior to his move to Russia. So Spurs can't really complain.

Plus, it's nice to fuck with Levy.

He plays off the left for Japan, I'd hardly argue its a completely alien position for him. Regardless, he's not stamped any authority over his position. I agree with you that he'll come good eventually, but so far there's little he's shown to even put him in the same breath as players like that, let alone by justification for not signing them.

I know what you mean about it not really being an alien position for him, but he'd flourish in the center like he did for Dortmund. He was voted Bundesliga Football Player of the Year the season before he came over, playing in his preferred role.

I wouldn't be too pissed off about Willian if I was a Spurs fan, if you get Lamela you'll be fine.

Verbal contracts are legally binding pretty much everywhere, telemarketing literally wouldn't exist otherwise.

The difficulty is proving that a contract was agreed to.

Employment is usually one that has to be in writing. Especially if it's a contract of employment and not for employment.

Yeah, you're not going to get away with verbally agreeing on multi-million pound employment contracts.

Alright. That'd make sense.

My post was really just an instinctual reaction to the suggestion that verbal agreements never matter in the "big boy world", when in reality they do matter if they can be proven.

Yeah, you're not going to get away with verbally agreeing on multi-million pound employment contracts.

They do matter if you're making a billion dollar corporate buyout though, as the Texaco oil corporation will attest to.

I'm not over the moon over this move as it a luxury more than a necessity but reaction like that make it worthwile.

I love how Spuds fans went from "with Willian and Lamela were are contenders" to "meh he's overrated and overpriced, we dodged a bullet there" in less than 24 hours

He's ok, but his positioning is awful, he fades in and out of games and his range of passing is limited. I like him how England use him, but I don't think he's really good enough at enough things to be a really effective player in a two man midfield.

I think the only thing it has going for it is that no matter how you look at it there is a perception that Dortmund aren't an absolute top draw team, which Gundogan may share. I remember people saying basically that exact line up until virtually the minute before Götze left for Bayern.

I can't adequately stress how unlikely I think it is (I mean, I don't think we're even trying to sign him regardless of anything else) but I'm never really 100% sure when making predictions about Dortmund.

I understand all that and I can see him leaving in the next couple of years, but there's absolutely no chance he's going anyway this summer.

Yeah, it's hard to see them losing Götze, Lewandoski (effectively) and Gündogen in this window. Especially seeing as they don't need the money.

I genuinely think he's one of the best midfielders in the league and I hate Man Utd - I love Michael Carrick.

Apparently Arsenal also want Tim Krul for 10m \o/ Which arm do they want for that?

I can't think of anyone else willing to pay that much aside PSG or Monaco?

Bale wants Madrid though so I can't see him going elsewhere. And of course Bale's in Spain for a reason.
