McClaren said 5 players between the value of 10 and 15m too.

Yeah a proper winger should be nice too.

Wijnaldum,, Colback, Tiote, Sissoko and De Jong is a lot of central players. So imo Sissoko will start on one wing - therefore it will be vital to have some width and I think Obertan and Aarons are the only natural wingers we have on the books. Marveaux, Cabella, Perez, Gouffran etc. may not provide enough width

5 players of £10-15million value would represent a major policy shift. Interesting to see if they follow through with that.

Given I'm still not sure Sissoko, Perez, Cabella or Gouffran work out wide, some width would be good. Thauvin might work, and would certainly be an improvement on the inconsistent Obertan. One or two centre backs and a possible left-back would be good too, as would Mitrovic.

Thauvin is similar to Cabella - nippy and tricky but not fast enough to be on the wing.

We need to work on our defence tbf - a backup right back is a must as if Janmaat gets injured we have nobody there. We need 2 centre backs too.

Annoying that we're apparently willing to pay £13m for Diego Rolan who is hardly turning trees up in France but we won't spend an extra 2m on Austin who is a proven Premier League goalscorer. Or Bas Dost who is proven in the Bundesliga.

Apparently offered 9m today for Banega which is a strange one, we need 2 centre backs and 2 centre forwards first.

Then right back cover. Then we can start thinking about improving centre midfield.

It's almost as if they're not true.

I don't think the Banega one has any weight but Rolan has been thrown round a few times.

Sky reporting Mitrovic deal agreed and medical today/tomorrow, while the Belgians are reporting his Anderlecht teammate Chancel Mbemba is close to a move himself.

Clearly I know too little about the Belgian league. Hopefully for £23million they'll be good.

Can't wait until we ruin it all by selling sissoko cabella and cisse afterwards

If we get Abdennour and Mbemba I'd be happy with our business this window as long as we don't sell anyone without replacing them.

I'm starting to think we need a playmaker in midfield though, don't think Colback is up to it.

Newcastle fans believing that they are the reason 'Ashley' is spending is fucking brilliant. The delusions is top notch.

Especially after spending the first part of the window, saying that 'Ashley' won't spend and he's played everyone for fools.

Mitrovic is officially on board.

What do we think is needed next?

Need 2 centre backs and a playmaker. Whether that be an amc or dm I dunno.

I've heard we might still be in for Austin. Would be surprised, but if we can sell Riviere and buy him, we've got a better strikeforce already. That's still an if though.

But yeah. a centre back is the priority. I also think we should sign an extra left-back as I'm not entirely convinced by Haidara.

Not really. The lack of competition for Coloccini and lack of cover for Taylor when he's injured left Williamson there too often and he's not good enough.

We need 2 centre backs really. Think we'll get 1.

Although saying that, they said we'd sign 6 first team players so maybe we'll get 2.

Our midfield was poor at times last season, true, but our defence was equally inept.

Chancel Mbemba has been spotted at St. James' Park and is likely to confirm an £8.5million move from Anderlecht over the weekend.

McLaren has said we're still looking for more. So what we reckon... winger next?

A second central defender wouldn't go a miss, anything to keep Mike Williamson out of the starting XI.

Apparently had bone scans a couple of years ago which prove he's 20. Which FIFA and Newcastle are satisfied with. Doesn't look 20 mind.

A lot of people seem to be forgetting Newcastle were comfortably midtable last year until John Carver happened... and almost the same team that comfortably finished top 10 the previous year.

Either Pardew is a great manager who coached these losers fantastically, or the squad isn't that bad.

Mbemba isn't officially confirmed yet. Presumably Mitrovic's visa is still being worked out.

Brilliant from the Newcastle fans too! We deserved a draw at the very least, played some good stuff.

Was on my way back up from London so we stopped off to watch the game. Good support for a friendly and sissoko and wijnaldum looked good.

Taylor and Williamson looked below their level too which is worrying. We really need them both away from the starting xi/first backup position come 2 weeks time.

Just seen McClaren playing down reports that we'll sign more players after mbemba.

Thought it might have been too good to be true.
