Marcelo did fuck all this past year except be in a Madrid team that managed to win La Liga ahead of Barca, surely if the decision is based on what the player won and not how well they placed then surely Ashley Cole would be the only real contender for LB in the TOTY, since he won the champions league and FA Cup with Chelsea..........oh and Cole actually played well to top it off

Ashley Cole and Jordi Alba were far more deserving candidates than Marcelo. Hummels, Kompany and Thiago Silva all deserved to be in ahead of Pique as well.

Baines has been fantastic and consistant as always (surely the most consistant player in the league, if not europe, except Messi) but Cole did win the CL

Cole wasn't average in the league, even in a side that was performing terribly, he was still one of our best performers week in week out. He was also exceptional in the Champions League.

The only advantage of having Baines is that he contributes a bit more going forward than what Cole does. However, Cole is better defensively.

I've read that Mourinho doesn't trust him in the big games and dropped him a couple of times towards the end of last season.
