[FM21] Found an error in our database[Players+Staff Changes Only]

thats strange, and then its defaulting to coach in game

IIRC when you create a non player or give an unattached non player a contract in the official editor it defaults to the job being either coach or chairman

are you getting manager first team to be <integer id="new_value" value="5"/>
if so that is the 5th choice in the list of options of jobs in the drop down list in the official editor so it might be its going up numerically..I will do a quick check now

not as simple as I hoped no correlation between list of jobs in the editor for staff and those generated in xml file, hopefully someone has some input to assist

Is it possibly related to the fact that staff members on the site's database don't have their current contracted job displayed?

@Footygamer just tried to check the latest update but it hasnt updated to the most recent release it is still downloading yesterday's 02/01/21

just select edit and he is shown as being the manager of a club Botafogo and an unnamed national team manager in our editor

users are reporting issues that when using the update he is in charge of Brazil instead of Tite

right the update is now out and sam allardyce is now correct but poch is showing as a coach at PSG and a coach for the Argentina national team sammy lee as a coach at WBA so still a few issues

in latest update he is now manager at Botafogo but he is also Ass Man of Brazil

So for Pochettino the problem is that we're not setting the job because on the sites system it's already set. But within the game it's not set and the game is then guessing how to set it which for some reason it's coming out as coach.

One fix would be to remove the jobs for all unemployed people so that when we create changes we have to set the job, this would probably fix Pochettino.

But it may still have issues if someone moves clubs, it would need more experimentation which obviously is quite time consuming.

The problem stems from the fact that we only write what's changed to the xml file, so if someone moves but keeps the same job we don't write the job to the XML file. The old system didn't work that way it wrote whatever the submitter submitted. Right now i'm not 100% sure how to resolve it, it needs more thinking.

Before anyone says it, there's no way to just revert to the old way and there are other benefits to the new way, so it's not going happen.

In the case of Eduardo Barroca (Eduardo de Souza Barroca) being Brazil U20 Assistant, this seems to be a different issue related to the way we've extracted the data, for some reason we don't have the fact that he's U20 Assistant in our DB and the whole system relies on our DB being perfect, again that's something I need to try and figure out and maybe do another extraction.

I've fixed Pochettino now and rebuilt the data update.

I'll have to go through every single change and fix every single one to make sure there's no more issues, which will obviously take time so please be patient.

In fixing Pochettino i'm also noticing other issues such as if you edit someone once to set an expiry and then edit them to set a role the expiry will be lost and not in the XML.

We somehow need to figure out a way to test this more or communicate more so that things like this aren't either missed or simply not reported.

I'm not sure how best to manage that right now as i'm struggling time wise.

I've now fixed 104 submissions that were using the wrong job. In lots of cases ones like "Manager (First Team Only)" are internally meant for things like history entries and not contracts and "Manager (First Team)" should be used instead.

I've now fixed the form so that only appropriate jobs should show.

There's still one more bug related to editing the same person multiple times it looks like 548 have been edited multiple times so it'll take a little while to sift through and see if there's any related issues

Was the option to mark someone as Interim manager removed? Let us know if there's anything we can do and thanks for all your hard work!

Yeah it does appear in this list so I don't believe it is valid for a contract

I've updated 2085 changes that had a new club but no job set and set the job to hopefully fix any of those Job issues.

If anyone notices anymore can you please report it here?
