The more high-profile players come out, the more youngsters will be able to come out in confidence. Good on Hitzlsperger, and shame on Alex, now at PSG, who is apparently homophobic on religious grounds according to a documentary in France that he's been interviewed for.

Shame, I always used to like Alex.

Most South Americans are tremendously anti-gay/abortion for religious reasons. That's shown in the same documentary. Something about them being Pentecostal

The overwhelming majority of South Americans are Catholic.

There is however a prominent contingent of Brazilian footballers that belong to Evangelical Protestant churches.

Yeah, "most" was probably the wrong word to use. Also "South Americans", but yeah a lot of Brazilian footballers are

Don't they have them earlier to prevent people drinking for 14 hours before kick-off?

It's Newcastle - you can pretty much find somewhere to drink at any time of the day/night.

Isn't there 24 hour drinking in the UK now anyway? I think Wetherspoons serve at like 9am or something. Pubs will serve on derby days anyway, too much money.

Early kick offs just seem to get the pissheads more motivated. Getting up at 8 on a sunday to get the bus into Newcastle early to make sure they get enough drinking hours in before the match.

They get the strippers on that early as well on derby day.

Pepe Mel is the new manager of West Brom.

Interesting choice.

It's like that at most clubs, I'd imagine. Who's the current one at Newcastle....I'm guessing that's what you're referring to?

We've had plenty lately although to be honest they've been fully deserved - Murphy, Orr, Etuhu, Best - bunch of parasites with a shocking attitude signed by a bunch of parasites, lead of course by he who shall not be named.

There isn't really one at Newcastle atm as we're playing quite well.

Obertan gets grief but he deserves it.

Although Steven Taylor and Shola are getting it in the neck on fansites, I'd be surprised if Obertan isn't the main target of fan irritation.

Not that his playing style does anything to avoid ridicule...

I don't see why Shola gets abuse tbf - he should be 4th choice and he's happy with that.

It's just the lack of ambition by Newcastle that forces him into the first team far too often.

Steven Taylor and Jonas were the guys I was referring to. I understand that rage at Shola is always going to happen and I can understand why fans don't like Obertan (booing him is fucking shocking though).

It's more the randomness element. Gouffran is loved for his work rate, Jonas is hated for it. Steven Taylor as been generally liked for the past decade, than has suddenly jerked into being a hated joke who isn't good enough. Williamson has went from that to first name on the team sheet in 6 months or so.

There's also the inverse. The answer to ALL problems, Shane Long.

Shane Long - 19 in 84 (PL for WBA)
Nikica Jelavic - 16 in 59 (PL)
Danny Graham 16 in 86 (PL)
Papiss Cisse 22 in 64 (PL)
Remy 18 in 32 (PL)

Shane Long would be a top signing though.

Also Newcastle should sign Best back.

Shane Long is a fucking brilliant player. His goal record doesn't indicate his workrate, although I'm sure he has a fair few assists to supplement it.

He's also somehow almost unbeatable in the air

The Willo/Taylor swap I think is because Taylor's contribution so far this season has been to be sent off, while Williamson has put in performances during our best runs. Last season was the inverse - Williamson was a liability while Taylor looked more convincing. That's just the way football is, and fans seem to react swiftly and accordingly.

The Jonas/Gouffran element is more simple - Gouffran knows how to score or cross, while Jonas isn't as convincing. In any case I thought he was leaving this month.

Was expecting you to destroy Swansea after the losing the last match, but Utd don't look up for it at all. Will probably nick it 1 or 2-0 but im amazed at just how poorly they're playing.
