SI have announced various improvements to the transfer system in FM24. You can read their full blog here

Improvements to AI Transfers

  • FM24 significantly improves the decision-making and team selection capabilities of AI managers. AI managers are now programmed to consider factors like form and reputation.
  • AI Managers are now recognise imbalances in their squad make-up and will take their tactical style into consideration.
  • AI Managers will now place a stronger focus on a player’s Potential Ability rather than their Current Ability when players are looking for backup/rotation options to an established first-team starter
  • AI Managers will be more likely to give game time to youth players when they're winning or controlling games.
  • FM24 introduces a new “Late Developer” system of player development. I.e. the “Jamie Vardy” system. Where players don't hit their peak until much later in their career.

This has been a much needed “feature” for years now. So it's great to see it in.

The point about placing a stronger focus on PA over CA when looking at backup/rotation options is interesting. Brighton have shown the value in players like James Milner and Adam Lallana as backups. Presumably the game isn't going to avoid signing experienced backups all together. Perhaps in previous games the AI didn't consider PA at all and always focused on CA? That would be embarrassing if true, so i'm glad it's fixed if that was the case. I just really hope this doesn't mean older players aren't discarded all together in FM24 because that wouldn't make any sense.

The late developer feature is again something people have been calling for, for years. I'd be interested to know how often it occurs. People like Jamie Vardy being discovered at 25 is pretty rare but someone like Salah turning into a world beater at 25 isn't. There's no mention of whether the club the player is at impacts this late development. Hopefully it does since that would make alot of sense.

Improvements to Finances

  • More or better news items about your finances
  • New sanctions around breaking FFP
  • More dynamic income streams, with income changing from month to month or year to year as sponsorship deals start and end.
  • Less money will be labelled as “general” or “other”, it will now be clearer where money is coming from or going.

I'm pretty sure this has been touted as a feature a few times, although I can't actually find any references to it, so maybe i'm misremembering.

This all sounds more realistic which is cool, but it could also get in the way and be annoying. Hopefully dynamic income streams don't mean we're suddenly being sent panicky messages about the finances one month and golden reviews the next.

It sounds like nothing is really changing and it's just making what was always happening in the background more visible.
