FM24 is going to have a few new features related to selling players, you can read the whole article here or get the easier to digest and honest overview below.

What's new

  • There's a new “Ask agent about market interest” option. Which is essentially the same as the current “Ask agent about availability” but you're asking if he's interested in moving or if other clubs have shown interest when selling a player.
  • You can now use agents, or as FM is calling them “intermediaries”, to help sell players. These guys will basically do the leg work for you in finding them a club in return for a cut capped at 10%.
  • You will also receive messages and reports from intermediaries working for other clubs.
  • FM now features “transfer room”, this is what some what the Guardian has referred to as “online dating" for soccer players and teams. Players will be listed as available on transfer room so teams know who's available. This will replace the “offer to clubs” option in game.
  • The transfer centre has a slightly updated UI to handle these new features

Opinion

It's funny how the game and reality copy and mimic each other. In years gone by the idea of having a “transfer list” or being able to search a list of transfer listed players around the world was derided as unrealistic. Now we've gone full circle and things like the transfer room are real and the game has to reimplement these same ideas in order to be realistic.

The rest of the features are kind of cool, especially if it helps sell players, which has always been frustrating (albeit realistic…). But I grimace everytime there's mention of a single button I can press that might upset a player, i've been burnt too many times.
