Right, all of you gym based people may know what the fuck is wrong with my leg.

Been playing a fair bit of 11 a side football recently which I don't normally do, now on a morning/when its cold/when ive been sitting down for a while when I start to walk my right knee randomly gives way.

It does this a lot and its not something that I've been able to "walk off" as you will.

I cba to go to the doctors unless it gets even worse so was wondering if anyone could shed light on it.

Probably nothing to worry about.

Just keep an eye on it and if it starts hurting or starts to give way more frequently go and get it looked at.

If it's giving way it could be your acl and you should probably get it looked at asap.

I was actually going to write in my reply to him that I'm sure you'd be along to tell him that his acl is fucked.

You're not wrong mind, it could be an acl injury, but it seems unlikely from the information we've got imo.

Saying that, if you are worried it might be anything serious go to the doctors Poe ya knob, better safe than sorry.

I hate the doctors though, they always exaggerate everything.

It's been fine the past few days so I'd say its nothing to worry about.

Haha smart cunt!! Could be anything in his knee really, just the giving way sounds very familiar to my knee and I've torn my acl twice now. It's odd because I can play football with some strapping on a Sunday, but it was giving way when I was walking around Amsterdam. I reckon get it checked, especially back at home, I imagine any wait for a knee reco would be very long.

It probably is fine tbh, but if I was you I'd go to a physio just to see what they think.

Do you stretch and warm up properly? Sounds like its just a mobility problem that is causing some issues.

Not for generally walking round the house, no.

Anyway I was playing this afternoon and it completely collapsed, went to A+E and it turns out I have very little knee cartilage.

Nothing they can do I guess?

I've pretty bad tendinitis in the back of my knee but luckily Voltarol seems to be doing the job for now.

Think Kev had an issue with his knee before, might be thinking of someone else though

Fuck sorry to hear man. They can fix it, but as far as I've heard from specialists and read about it the rehab is really nasty and not always successful. Are you planning on playing football and that, like is it important, because if you keep going you're going to eventually get osteoarthritis in your knee once all the meniscus is worn away....

This may probably be the reason, because if you haven't been working out regularly your muscles probably aren't as well-developed to support your knees, especially in a hard start-stop sport like football because it's pretty jarring to the knee.

Now that's it's rather worn out you should focus on training those quads or something. Squats (done properly, this is very important) and hamstring exercises will be good. Don't do too much though (otherwise you're all for the gains, brah).

If you like running (and you should run too) and you strike on your heels you could try landing mid-foot or forefoot instead. Landing heel-first will put more pressure on your knees, while landing further up the foot will shift that pressure on your ankles instead, so if you're planning to transition, go slow and do short distances at the start (even just half a km for the first time). If not, you could end up hurting your ankles and getting all sorts of funky injuries like calcaneal spurs or plantar fasciitis. In the meantime you'll also get pretty huge calves.

I'm probably just gonna stick to not exercising after my recent exercise-related day in A+E.

I'll play 5 a side once a month or something to fend off unwanted heart attacks.

Ahhh, 0.1 km/h off 28 km/h, so so cruel.

Month 2 of Insanity is hard. Did my 3rd fit test on Monday. Since the first fit test, I've doubled my power jacks & globe jumps, more than doubled my power jumps, and nearly doubled my power knees, push up jacks and low plank obliques.

I've been reading a book my a chap who's walked from Lands End to John O'Groats, It's really making me want to try it after completing the 82 mile walk through Yorkshire back in June. I'm sure I could do the 1100+ miles, it's just having to take thee months or more off from work that I'd struggle with financialy so I guess I have a lot of saving to do before this becomes a reallity.

The one in Cornwall's shite so for the first 75 miles it'd probably be best to walk.
