So that's United last CL game now for at least the next 15 months or so.

Going to make for some interesting times ahead.

I'll be happy when Moyes takes out the word 'try' from his vocabulary.

He's so defeatist. If he stopped focussing on how much better everything will be next season, this season may have not been so bad!

"..there is a recognition that buying any elite class player is particularly tough due to the current market place"

Downplaying expectations again.

They're the worst type of manager. Hodgson did the exact same thing with us. Thankfully we'd enough sense to sack him.

Isn't that basically the exact same statement Ferguson used to say?

No value in the market etc.

I'm guessing Fergie could get away with it because he always managed to sign players who did do well despite his comments.

Moyes hasn't proved shit, and he's already trying to lower expectations.

Worryingly thats what the club has been briefing the media rather than from Moyes mouth himself.

Yeah, and then he'd buy Robin Van Persie.

He also had years where he bought utter garbage though, deals like the RVP one don't come around every year

The worst transfer window he ever had he bought Cristiano Ronaldo in. It's not a crime to sign the likes of Djemba-Djemba and Bellion, especially if you sell them on for similar fees.

Fairly sure you had a worse year than that, didn't you have a year you only signed one year when you signed Carrick?

Teams around you weren't taking massive steps forward then though like Chelsea and City are nowadays.

City spent about half a billion in that time and Chelsea can't have been far off.

We signed him in the 06 summer I think.

So Chelsea had been rich for a few years and City got taken over 2 years later.

It was well-documented that Fergie and Gill were heavily involved, and we spent £40+million on the guy. He was an extreme case of an incredible player being made inexplicably available in a transfer window, and we're very lucky to have him. Besides, he didn't join us to play under Moyes.

Fairly sure you had a worse year than that, didn't you have a year you only signed one year when you signed Carrick?

That year when we signed one of our best players of the last 6-7 years and won the league title?

David Moyes admits Manchester United could struggle to secure their top transfer targets in time for the start of pre-season.

Moyes is reportedly planning a £150m overhaul of United's squad as he looks to build on a difficult first year at Old Trafford, but is concerned that the World Cup could hinder his plans.

"It's difficult as players are going to be going away for the World Cup so it's maybe not quite as easy as, ideally, all clubs would like to get the work done early," he said.

"We cannot guarantee it but we will try to make that happen. I've got to say I'm well into my planning with my thoughts and ideas, getting ready for next year."

The excuses are coming out already. He needs to go, so much fucking negativity.

He was pretty positive in the press conference, but I still don't give a fuck. The guy needs to go, regardless. Transition at United means 3rd and a League Cup, not this dross.

There are 46 midfielders who are statistically more effective at winning 50-50 ground contests than the Belgian. Fellaini’s percentage success rate of 50.46% is below the average of 51.5% of players to have played in 10 games or more this campaign.

That he falls behind Michael Carrick (62.8%) and Tom Cleverley (51.8%) is surprising in itself. That he trails the likes of Juan Mata (52.5%), Eden Hazard (53.6%) and Philippe Coutinho (52.3%) suggests there is something wrong.

Pushing it further, you can argue that he isn’t even a danger in the air anymore - so often his forte at Everton. He has won 48 of 90 aerial duels (53.3%) at United which is above the average (47.2%) for players with 10 or more appearances under their belt but way short of the 90.5% he achieved last season.

Manchester United striker Danny Welbeck is considering leaving the club.

The 23-year-old, who favours a central striking role, is frustrated at being used regularly in other positions.

He has two years left on his contract but is debating whether to move rather than accept a new deal if one is offered in the summer.
