They can't offer the kind of wages they'd need to compete with Bayern over the long term. Their squad is still really young and plenty of their players have the potential to get a lot better, but most of them won't spend the prime of their career at Dortmund. Eventually most of them will follow in the footsteps of Götze and Lewandowski and go to clubs that can double, triple or even quadruple their wages.

They will ultimately face the same fate that Bayer Leverkusen, Werder Bremen and all the other German clubs that have briefly challenged Bayern's supremacy over the last 20 years have, even if their time in the sun will have lasted a lot longer than those who came before.

The Dortmund owners are awful. Pathetic and lack ambition. The 51% are just profiteering on the club, selling all of the assets and not replacing them. Minimum spend, maximum income. The 51% are killing all hope, and love for the club. It's worse than 2005. At least then the club had dreams.

And they're totally incompetent too Why didn't they give Lewandowski a 10 year deal? And put Gotze's release clause higher?

Fellaini's an absolute fuckbot. Thrilled we didn't go for him and got Matic instead.

Rio's been interested in his life outside of football more so than ever the last few years it seems. Has the odd brilliant game here and there but is usually a liability these days

Aye, the amount of rebuilding our defence needs is ridiculous as im still not 100% convinced by Jones, Evans and in particular Smalling. Also I can't even think of that many top top defenders out there that we could get

.....

Oh and in a rare moment of decent pundity Michael Owen talks a lot of sense here.

Nice one David, insult your squad and blame our greatest manager. That's going to improve your popularity.

I do feel sorry for him in a way, but he doesn't help himself. I think he's going to be sacked at the end of the season now. The comments just get worse.

Read an article about him that someone on Twitter linked to. Judging by what he's doing this season there might actually be a Premier League player in him.

I really want him to do well, I feel sorry for him that his name is affiliated with shit and embarrassment.

I'm not sure he can make it at United, but whether he goes I hope he does well. Seven goals in ten matches!

I still can't believe Moyes has said that.

'Fuck I'm under pressure, better publically alienate myself from the fans some more by slagging off one of the best managers in the game and my only real supporter'

I don't even feel sorry for him anymore, he's acting like a cunt.

These are the quotes form him last summer too:

"It's never the same until you've worked with the players, but we've got a great group of players -- they won the Premier League last year."

"There is no pressure to do it. I have an idea of where I’d like to strengthen," said Moyes. "If the right players are available, then great, but there is a possibility nothing may happen."

"I am quite confident we will add to the squad. But what we have here is a really good squad of players already. You mustn't forget about the quality that is already here at Manchester United."

"We needed him and I thought he played very well.

"He did well in the Villa game too. I think he is getting much closer to scoring.

"We bought Marouane Fellaini not to play every single game in the Premier League. We have bought him for several games. He did a great job at West Ham, against Aston Villa and against Bayern."

On Fellaini.

Way to put a dampener on things, he has to be kidding.
