BBC are saying that Ashley is backing Pardew - though not publicly it seems. Best hope seems to be that they're getting a replacement lined up for when the axe falls. If Pardew isn't getting sacked on the basis of the Southamton result (and everything leading up to it), then what will be the straw? The game at Hull? Aside from the first game, Newcastle have had a favourable fixture list at the start of the season, and should have been making hay and picking up as many points as possible before the Tottenham - Liverpool double header at the end of October/beginning of November and the Chelsea - Arsenal - Sunderland run over mid-December. At the current rate, the team won't have enough points to be able to afford to lose and draw those matches without being in the drop zone at Christmas.

A heavy defeat to Hull would be very hard to ignore.

I think Pardew has completely lost his nerve. Don't think he has the bottle to drop Gouffran or Cabella.

Does Pardew actually have the final say on transfers? Shearer said that as far as he knows he doesn't so no matter who is in charge it'll always end the same way eventually imo. Though the way Newcastle defended on Saturday has to be up there with some of the worst i have ever seen from a professional side and not really a lot the manager can do about that.

But then again i've never liked Pardew so i say blame him for everything then sack him.

The defending was awful, it just seems to be the insecurity and nerves is getting to Williamson and Coloccini. Williamson looked crippled by fear.

I think he had a lot of say in Mbiwa and Ben Arfa leaving - especially as he's known to have no working relationship with either. But the Cabaye/Ba/Carroll/Debuchy deals had nothing at all to do with him as far as I'm aware.

The problem isn't transfers atm - the two teams on Saturday on paper have very little between them but on the field we were miles apart - that is down to the manager. The way we're playing (poorly, with the exception of the second half vs City) - is down to the manager. The fact that he's blaming the fans/players/opposition/referee's/fixture congestion/science/europa league/anything but himself when we lose is frustrating too. It's clear he's not a good manager but he's capable of better than what we're producing at the minute, and he has to take blame for that.

Our team plus Ben Arfa and Mbiwa is good enough imo - but it was Pardew's decision to get rid of those two - there isn't any real financial benefit to Ashley by letting them leave on loan (we're still paying 50% of Ben Arfa's wages I think?).

New ideas are needed, and Pardew doesn't have them.

Has there actually been anything to suggest MYM and Pardew don't like each other? Or that it was Pardew's decision to get rid?

I read that Roma would pay £6.5m to make the deal permanent, so it is a good deal from Newcastle's POV to recoup the money lost. And I haven't read anything stating the terms of HBA's loan.

MYM said Pardew told him he was going to be 4th choice this season, and there's been several comments relating to the fact that Pardew didn't think he was physical enough for the division. (which may be true btw, he looked shaky when he did play - was never given a proper run in the side at centre back, though)

It also speaks volumes about the man that if it wasn't his decision - he was willing to go into a Premier League season with 1 out of form and 2 shit centre backs and peddle the bullshit that we're 'defensively sound'.

There are claims Yanga-Mbiwa was designated one of the scapegoats during the shit run we entered late last season, which HBA also got and got shifted for. Its also said he's one of the people who criticised Pardew's tactics during the more poisonous interlude. But entering this season with only 3 CBs - all of whom lack form - was a disaster waiting to happen, and while we somehow got away with it in 2011/12, we don't look like it this year.

That's horrible news. Even if he never plays football again, I hope he gets better soon.

Hopefully not true about Pardew sending him away when he came for help.

NUFC.com thinks that they sent him back to Argentina to be with his family and his doctors. I'd like to think that's the case, and not that we discriminated against him for his illness.

I don't want to speculate or politicise this because its a horrible subject matter, but I also don't like the idea that this club would deny funding to cancer treatment. But again, they don't communicate enough, so it allows an excessive amount of over-elaborate speculation. With any luck we'll get discussions from them about this - preferably today.

The way Jonas worded it, it sounded like he went back to Argentina himself to pay for it. He never asked the club to cover it.

The timeline is weird. Sounds like he was diagnosed originally in May 2013. - Last game of the 2012/13 season.

Played in the opening day of 2013/14 - Was injured and then returned to Argentina.
Arrived back in January and loaned to Norwich. (This seems to be when he was told to find a new club - I remember reading at the time)
Missing from pre-season training for 2014/15

Yeah, he had testicle removed, came back. Then at Norwich he had pain in his kidneys and there were lymph nodes or something in his kidneys, so he needed to go for chemo

I suppose at the time it might have made sense to loan him out for fitness - he wasn't in the first team plans at Newcastle in the first half of the 2013/14 season, so it would have made sense to loan him out to bulk up his fitness levels. Even though he then suffered another injury.

Meanwhile, I've noticed the Sack Pardew people have printed off something like 20,000 flyers in the style of SportsDirect logos. Has this much effort ever gone into trying to unseat a Newcastle manager before? I remember bedsheets during the last days of Souness and Allardyce but never anything this elaborate or protracted.

Fairly confident Pardew is staying after the Hull game.

Don't think Ashley will allow himself to look like he's pandering.

Can see Newcastle humping Hull, leaving Pardew looking incredibly smug and the majority of fans disappointed the team has won.

Seeing as Hull seem to always win at St. James' Park - and the only time since we've beaten them since their first promotion in 2008 saw Pardew headbutting an opponent - I really was hoping for someone else to try and get a win.

I can see Newcastle winning 4-1 and Pardew quitting anyway
