They need something to help Rodgers with player recruitment, he's dreadful in the transfer market.

There's already a transfer "committee"

I often wonder how good Graham Carr would be at a club willing to spend money on transfers.

He's helped bring Cabaye, Debuchy, Tiote, Sissoko, Ayoze, Remy and Mbiwa to Newcastle for less than 15m combined.

Rodgers also rejected a director of football I believe, which is exactly what is needed these days when you have £100m to spend

Could also be one of the situations were his skill is finding those type of players for that type of money.

There has been quite a few managers who were brilliant at finding bargain buys but were woeful at buying once they had some decent cash to spend. I know Carr isn't a manager but i feel the point still stands.

Carr was a manager btw. And Alan Carr's dad. And none of those players were hidden except for Tiote and Ayoze and they weren't that hidden.

I think the challenge was always going to be massive this year due to overachieving last year multiplied with their best player leaving and being unable to sign players of similar quality, (eg can't see Costa, Sanchez, Fabregas, Falcao or Di Maria wanting to join).

Its not really a point of conjecture, even. We know for a fact they were in for at least 2 of those (Sanchez and Falcao) and got no where.

Demichelis will make or break today's game. Roma showed they can exploit our high line but I have faith in Demi to organise them all

To be fair with Falcao, we backed off as soon as we heard about the £10m loan fee and having to pay all his wages! But losing Sanchez to Arsenal was big, gutted he didn't come here.

He's only injured because he joined us, would have played every game and scored 15 goals by now if he'd joined you or City.

Falcao is a better option than Balotelli, less controversy too.

Would have probably preferred Bayer Leverkusen over PSG, though they aren't unbeatable. Also will be good to see Luiz back at the Bridge, I'm sure he'll get a warm reception upon his return.

Juventus v Dortmund as well!

Going for Chelsea, Barcelona, Atletico, Juventus, Real Madrid (they'll destroy Schalke big time), Bayern, Arsenal and Porto to get through.

They need to get better pundits on SSN for these draws though, proper European football experts. Not people like Tony Gale who said 'Basel have been surprisingly good this season.' I mean seriously?
