In fairness, they were the better team for 60-odd minutes. Looking forward to seeing replays of a few decisions though, the ref (and one of the assistants) seemed pretty poor today.

Burnley going straight back down and sinking without trace yet again

Fair play to Leicester though, 4 wins on the spin is a great achievement for any team in the league, never mind one down the bottom at the business end of the season.

PFA Team of the Year:

De Gea, Ivanovic, Cahill, Terry, Bertrand, Sanchez, Coutinho, Matic, Hazard, Kane, Costa

Coutinho is the stand out WTF choice on there, not sure Cahill and Bertrand have been that good either and I might have had Clyne over Ivanovic.

Cahill, Coutinho, Ivanovic

What a joke.

Just curious: when's the last time the PL top scorer has not been nominated for anything? (Just a question, not saying he undoubtedly deserves it)

Are still people taking the awards seriously? Giggs won it a few years ago ffs

On a side note, Rodgers is starting to piss me off. He comes out with some bullshit and some of his choices are baffling. Why buy Lambert/Borini/Balotelli and hardly ever play them. Borini is half decent as well

Because they're shite and never should have been bought in the first place?

Yeah then why buy them in the first place. Plus they're not exactly bad back up/second striker options (probably not for top 4 team, but with Sturridge out for so long we could have done with someone getting a run in the side).

Borini isn't too bad given a decent chance but the other two were never gonna work. Rodgers knows best though of course.

He's the best of the bunch but he's still thoroughly average.

You can sort of understand them all (apart from Borini who he'd worked with and should have known wasn't up to snuff).

Lambert as a back up striker for cheap wasn't a terrible idea and Balotelli was a massive gamble based on the fact you're not enough of a draw to attract anyone truly world class and Rodgers' ego.

None would have looked so bad if Sturridge wasn't injured all season though.

I'd say Silva, Cazorla, Mata, Fabregas and even Eriksen, Fellaini & Sigurdsson have been better than Coutinho to be honest. He scored a few great goals but that shouldn't get you in. Not saying he has been totally crap by the way.

None of them have had a fair run in the team though to show anything. They wouldn't have been a bad choice to stick in for a few games when Sturridge was out and sure would have grabbed a couple goals. Also Ballotelli comment is a bit over the top, I also still think he can be a decent player (most likely not at this club, but he's still young enough to do something).

Can see Rodgers going next season if we're still shit, last season is saving him

I just don't see it happening with Balotelli, back when he was at City you could understand the argument that he was some uncut diamond that needed the right management and loving to realise his potential.

He's now 24 and the chances are is going to be sold for less than the club bought him for for the 3rd club running. Perhaps theres still some truth to the idea that if he could find the right manager he might sort himself out, but I can't think of anyone in World football that could either do it or would consider the effort of doing so worthwhile.

Even then, I don't think his talent was ever as great as people made out it was. His off field antics influenced perceptions of his ability on the pitch.

Doesn't help that tactical genius Rodgers plays him up front on his own.

What happened during the silence there? People singing in concourse?

He's surely going to realise eventually that he's wasting his career. You can see he has some ability, and even if he doesn't truly reach his potential I can see him becoming a decent striker. A lot of if's in that though.
