What the hell was that ending True Detective?

Can't wait for next week's episode already.

He can't be dead, so how the hell will it be explained next week. Bulletproof vest maybe?

Rock salt shells, probably. Bulletproof vest wouldn't help against a shotgun blast from that range.

Enough to incapacitate him and get away, makes sense. Although why the need to shoot him from that range when he's already on the floor.

The guy with the gun was wearing an eagle mask, in the first episode when Caspare was being driven around it zoomed in on an eagle mask in the back of the limo. The killer? Or part of a group of bird masking weirdos.

Really good episode I thought, except the first 5 minutes which was boring as hell.

Really enjoying True Detective.

Very interesting theory here.

A lot of corruption and friends in high places covering for each other. It's a good theory. The forest in the opening credits and Ray's dad saying "You're running through the trees, you're small. The trees are like Giants." Wonder if the hippy commune is connected in someway too.

Haha, he was great.

Good episode again, last 10 mins were great.

The bad guys clearly were tipped off that the police were coming, the shootout started before the cops even crossed the street! Mayor tipped them off for sure, police are gonna look bad due to the deaths, protestors killed, suspect dead, Ann suspended. Case over in the mayor's eyes. Hippy commune looks even more tied in with the plot. Corruption, corruption everywhere!

That's at least 5 dead cops and 10 dead civilians. A serious massacre.

Interesting that they showed so many bystanders get killed, that's usually not something they show in Hollywood productions, no matter how big and crazy the shootout.

Colin Farrell was my biggest worry about True Detective Season 2 before it started, but he's my favourite part about it. Great acting tonight.

The bit when he found out he killed the wrong guy and that the real rapist was caught was fucking brilliant. At least we're finding stuff out now, it was going a bit slowly but seems to picking up. Probably nothing but all those birds in the woods towards the end, seems nicely linked to the bird mask guy. Wonder if they'll be any link to season 1? As I say every week: so much corruption.

Frank gets a man he wanted killed by Ray and then has a cop under his control, not a bad idea. The scene between them two is going to be bloody tense next week.

The blue diamonds I bet is Frank's missing $5M.

Seven episodes, one more, same as the first season.

Persevere with it, it's a bit slow but it gets very good! Last two episodes have been superb.

With the heavy arsenal Frank now has I bet one of them goes all Max Payne in the finale.

I didn't mind season 2. Certainly nothing like the first season but not as bad as it has been made out to be by some.

You just need to treat it like a whole new show and judge it on it's own accord.

Agreed. I really enjoyed it.

Most critics who reviewed it were writing about it with Season 1 with mind, comparing it to that, and picked out every little flaw and made it sound terrible. How can you compare the seasons when they're completely different? Same happened with Broadchurch.

Season 1 did have it's flaws too, I've enjoyed both seasons. HBO said they'll do a season 3, if Nic Pizzolatto wanted to.
