Newcastle United are one of the most famous clubs in English football, boasting a history which dates back to 1892.
The Magpies have won four league titles and six FA Cups, although you have to go back to 1955 to find the most recent of those successes.
Fans have had a roller-coaster ride since then, but the Saudi Arabian-led takeover in October 2021 sparked hope of a much brighter future.
Biggest Rivals
Sunderland. Currently languishing in the Championship, the only way the two local rivals can meet in the first season on FM24 is in the domestic cups.
Related Clubs
Newcastle want to replicate Manchester City’s multi-club model and have been in talks with teams in Belgium, Portugal, Saudi Arabia and Brazil.
Short-Term Goals
After finishing fourth in the Premier League in 2022/23, Newcastle will feature in the Champions League. Retaining their top four place, progressing to the last-16 in Europe and winning a domestic cup are realistic aims.
Long-Term Challenge
The club’s Saudi owners have made no secret of their desire to establish Newcastle as one of the most successful clubs in European football.
However, Profit and Sustainability rules make it difficult to keep pace with clubs such as Manchester City, who have a significant head start on the Magpies.
Developing local and international prospects in the club’s academy will play a crucial role in ensuring Newcastle can fulfil their long-term aims.
Current Squad
Newcastle are currently set up for a 4-3-3 formation. Their transfer business in 2023 filled several holes in the squad, but improvements could be made.
A young centre-back would be a useful acquisition, while an attacking player to compete with Miguel Almiron would also be welcome.
Selling Sean Longstaff should be a priority as he is nowhere near good enough to be a regular starter in a team which harbours ambitions of winning silverware.
Elliot Anderson should be given plenty of opportunities to shine as he is one of the most promising young players at the club.
Possible Transfer Targets
Armel Bella-Kotchap (Southampton - CB) – He could be a useful option on loan, particularly if you
can negotiate an option to buy in the deal.
Lloyd Kelly (Bournemouth – CB) – Kelly has become a reliable performer in the Premier League.
Bournemouth may sell him as he has just one year left on his contract.
Amad Diallo (Manchester United - AM RLC) – If you can forgive him for his successful loan spell at
Sunderland in 2022/23, Diallo could be a useful back-up to Almiron.
Adam Wharton (Blackburn Rovers - DM, MC) – Wharton would be the ideal replacement for
Longstaff. He is far better on the ball and a superb long-term prospect.
