Newcastle United was founded in 1892 after the merging of Newcastle East End and Newcastle West End and is located in The North-East of England in Newcastle Upon Tyne.

Highs include the clubs FA Cup win in 1952, Kevin Keegan's Entertainer's era, Champions League nights under the great Sir Bobby Robson and the here and now, where ambitious new ownership are pushing to take Newcastle United back to the top. Mike Ashley's 14-year stay from 2007 to 2021 was without doubt the lowest era, seeing us suffer relegation to the Championship on two occasions.

Biggest Rivals

Sunderland

Related Clubs

The club have often loaned players to local club Gateshead (National League), but recent reports suggest the PIF (80% owners) want to replicate Man City's multi-club model through teams in Brazil and Saudi Arabia.

Realistic short term goals
To consolidate as a top 10 club, along with a cup run and push towards European qualification, if possible.

Interesting long-term challenge - Grow the academy

To big long term challenge is to break into the 'big six' while battling Financial Fair Play restrictions. We won't be able to splash the cash like Man City and Chelsea did post-takeover, so it will be a real challenge to grow each year, both on and off the pitch.

Try to develop the academy, since Dan Ashworth has arrived as the club's new sporting director, a big focus has been placed on recruiting some of the world's best young talent, as well as developing local talents on Tyneside. Doing this will allow us to develop future stars at a much lower cost, signing and nurturing 'wonderkids' before they cost huge money.

Current Squad

The club is currently setup for a 4-3-3. Kieran Trippier tends to offer an outlet from right-back, pushing up to offer support to our right winger and being the more attacking of our two full-backs. Our midfield three features a deep-lying No 6 and two No 8's who look to press.

Star players are Bruno Guimaraes, Kieran Trippier, Sven Botman, Allan Saint-Maximin, Callum Wilson and Alexander Isak

Best Youth prospects coming through is Elliot Anderson. Has recently signed a new long-term contract after breaking into Eddie Howe's first-team plans.

Holding midfield, right-wing and left-back are the weakest positions. When Jonjo Shelvey is injured, we lack a natural No 6 with the quality to cut it at Premier League level. On the right, Miguel Almiron sometimes lacks the quality and consistency needed. At left-back, Matt Targett does a solid job, but he has a relatively low ceiling, not to mention there isn't a great deal of reliable cover for him in this position. We also lack pace at centre-back, meaning a right-sided option to compliment Sven Botman (LCB) could be sourced in time.

Possible transfer targets

James Maddison (Leicester - RW). His ability to cut in could create room for Kieran Trippier down the right.

Ibrahim Sangare (PSV - CDM). A towering, mobile and technically sound No 6 who looks tailor-made for the Premier League.

Moussa Diaby (Bayer Leverkusen - RW). A two-footed winger with pace and good technique.

Armel Bella-Kotchap (Southampton - CB). 20-year-old talent who could complement Botman very well.
