Discussion
With my 2019 version of photoshop I can practically no longer remove snow, it changes the color and reappear green background, even for refine edge it adds me white or destroys the earloop and the collar
Yes, I know. But this snow it's difficult to remove..

Here you - removed the snow for you. Wasn't any more difficult than usual, I have to say...

https://i.imgur.com/u4HOZt5.png
How can I remove the snow?

https://i.ibb.co/0Y3Wtwm/1915681283-arianeicapelli.jpg

PNG file:

https://i.ibb.co/4P97h4c/1915681283.png

Thanks

There are a few methods I use

1) Using the Brush tool on a layer mask, ctrl click the layer mask and ctrl+shift+i to invert the selection, then paint with a black brush on maybe 30-50% opacity around the hair edges, to mask out some more transparent bits of snow and give the hair a harder edge (this only works for pixels that were less than 100% opaque to begin with). You can also use the brush tool to re-add any hair strands that this removes or that the initial mask missed out.

2) Use the Clone Stamp tool on Darken mode with 10-30% opacity, sample the dark parts of the hair and brush over the snow on the edges. You can also use Luminosity mode if Darken makes it look unnatural. Then use Color mode to match the colour of the hair edges to the rest of the hair (useful for when the hair is against a green background, for instance). The Darken method can result in some of the hair strands not matching up because you're sampling one area and repainting it over another, so some care needs to be taken here.

3) Use the Burn tool with Highlights range and 5-10% exposure to darken the hair edges (the Burn tool brush strokes add up quickly so again be careful). Depending on the colours of the hair and the snow/edges, you might want to use Midtones range as well.
Hello.
At first, sorry for my bad englisch. I have tried a few cuts with Remove.bg (great side) . I'm not a good image preparer and i use a very very old Photoshop Version .

I'm at work so I don't have Photoshop and I cannot give a definitive assessment just yet. But there looks to be very little wrong with any of the cuts, I have to say There is a little bit of dark snow on the neck of the third cut, but that's me being overly picky Look forward to seeing more of your work. Most, if not all, of the sources you request should be easily sorted with remove.bg so hopefully you feel comfortable enough to do some, if not all, of them

As for using a very, very old Photoshop version, I'm still using CS5 which was released in 2011, and I get along just fine
So, after I have made two of my Requests in the Thread , i need some Help (perhaps) with the next ones . Its for me very "hairy"

The Hair details at the first picture are strange. Have you a tip for me, just if remove.bg's result not the best with hair details

bye the way. I have Photoshop 6.0 early 2000 ?! Until now its work fine for me
@maalivahti Bigger source for 8428706, you should be able to get a better cutout with it instead (or if not, someone else might)

Hi huys, I've made some faces, they are all good by my standards, removed backgroung and resized to 180x180 and made the config file.
However I'm stuck with how to make the icons from the portraits? I've seen they should be 25x18, is there any tutorial? thanks

If you upload them to the request forum, they will be added to the megapack and an icon pack generated in the forthcoming update pack.

If you don't want to do that, you can easily create an icon face by downsizing the portrait face to 18x18, then increase the canvas size by 7 pixels so that it's 25x18

I'll upload them, but I think many of them will be rejected as I tend to let more space below the chin to see a little part of the shirt like this:

I see. Such a pity - that cut could easily have been tweaked according to our guidelines so that you would get some shirt but not too much of it... Nonetheless, I'll receive them with open arms
I'll put them in the requests then...thank you very much
I think in the 27 there may be a 10-ish that are good by your cutout standards

Instead of uploading them individually, I'd upload them as a mixpack. Save you some time
Is there any way at all to get these images any bigger?

maybe anyone can reuploud Image Adjustments Action (for fixing colours) by mons - free and other good PS Action?

Here's a link to the image adjustments action: https://mega.nz/#!oI8gHIaY!oD7iVOwizMTfY9ze3H_JLaRxreFL0uUwQReqC5Jhl7A

I'm afraid I don't seem to have the others.
I've created a video tutorial for remove.bg - anything I should add/improve?

https://streamable.com/2cxnh

I'm interested in hearing if non-cutters think it demonstrates the steps in an easy manner

What is it you choose in the Actions menu from around 54 seconds into the clip?
What is it you choose in the Actions menu from around 54 seconds into the clip?

I have an action to reduce the canvas size to 250x250 - saves the time of going manually into the respective menu every time

It's included in the image adjustments action file included in the post beneath it and the OP

Downloaded the image adjustments action file. Is it enough just to open that one and it goes straight to PS?.
What is OP short for? ¨

Watching your video and the one @Swedie has done, but I just can´t make it. Is there writting instructions to your video in this "OP"...?

OP is opening post

You have to actually load the action file to the action window in Photoshop; it's not just a case of dragging it. I'm not on my own PC right now and cannot confirm the exact steps but I'm sure you can Google a guide to doing this. It's literally a question of clicking a couple of buttons really

In my video, I don't have a microphone to explain what I'm doing, but there should a visual demonstration in the bottom right corner of what I'm clicking on the mouse or typing on my keyboard to guide you to follow the same steps.

Where exactly are you finding difficulties? Maybe I can elaborate
Nice small and free software for image enlarging. It's using AI, so results are much better compared to Paint and Photoshop.

@mons Changed this software with letsenhance, since you need a subscription to use it. I linked to the online version instead though.

Quick tip that might make it easier to straighten images in PS, hit ctrl + ' to bring up a grid and rotate the canvas using the grid as your reference then when you're happy hit ctrl + ' again to get rid of the grid. To change the dimensions of the grid go to edit/preferences/guides, grids and slices.

Update 3 out now.
Also as I'm in here, a handy tool for cutters and downloaders of individual packs is ACDSEE. There's a free trial in the link and there are working versions of it available by other means.

It basically lets you move images into the megapack whilst bringing up the image already in there for you to compare the two before deciding if you think the new one is good enough to replace it. You can also change the colour of the transparent background to match the ingame skin colour for an even better idea of whether to replace what's in there or not.

Trying to make another run at cutting. I finally got a hold of a full version of Photoshop, and this is my first attempt. Obviously not perfect, but would appreciate any feedback as I have some free time at the moment and would love to make some headway into some cuts before the release of FM20 .

That's quite good, considering you've started out with what looks like a relatively hard source image (perhaps you could upload the source so we can compare?) I suggest starting out with simpler haircuts too while you're still learning. Can I ask which cutting technique(s) you used?

There are hardly any hair details, especially at the top, but it's hard to say if that's because of the source image. The side of the neck could do with a bit of clone stamping to give them a less fuzzy look. Finally, care should be taken to avoid the chicken-neck effect and so all cuts should include a little bit of collar. At the same time, the ideal cut only contains 2-3 pixels beneath the chin. Since in this source, the guy looks like he has a longer neck than usual, this would be quite difficult to achieve naturally. This video & this post displays a simple technique of how to cut close to the chin and still display a bit of the collar.

And of course, the cut should be 250x250.

That said, this is all relatively minor stuff which is quite easily sorted out and it's a very solid start indeed Looking forward to seeing more of your work and I'd be more than happy to give you pointers and tips on how to improve your cuts

Of course, should've uploaded before for comparison. I just used the clone stamp after getting rid of most of the background through 'remove.bg'. Then just played a tiny bit with the contrast, that's really about it. Was too scared to go too in depth just in case I lost the little detail I had from the original source.

No worries at all, I did read that about the collar, will be sure to include that from now on. I must of saved over my original because I did have it at 250x250, that's my bad, I've re-attached my attempt and the original source.

Thanks a lot for the feedback and tips! I'll keep on cracking and see where we go.

I suspected the source wasn't that great. It's always best to avoid whenever possible sources like this one where the player has been pre-cut then superimposed on a different background as the chances will be that it won't have been cut up to our standards, as is the case here. The most important part of a good cut is a good source; you can't get the former without the latter

I've given it a quick go myself from that source: https://i.imgur.com/okiK76b.png

I'm not sure it's any better than yours (most probably) or the current MP image to be honest, but I'll compare it later.

If you want to experiment further, I'd recommend using any of the pending individual requests on the request forum, the vast majority of which are easier to cut and of a better quality than the one you started out with
