@Okke Dries 1) This player already has a high quality, recent cutout image. The one you uploaded won't be an improvement.

2) “Game Ready” cutouts must be 250*250px (or 180*180px if the source image is small/low quality and the player doesn't already have a 250px cut), not any other image dimensions.

3) We prefer that cutouts are front-facing studio images wherever possible, not side-facing “action” images taken during matches/training, so that all the cutouts in the megapack are consistent in image quality and style.

Looks like it.

@weeniehutjr and @aminezirar, can either of you confirm? Seems a bit different from the current cut, which was already replaced this time last year…

Yeah, it seems that this site and a few others used the wrong pic, which is where tygryseku found it. I don't know who exactly it is (I wasn't able to find any other pics of that player), but it's an Olympic Safi player based on the shirt they're wearing.

Good evening everyone,

I am a fan of the series and played all the episodes until Football manager 2018 then for personal reasons I stopped.
I'm considering playing this amazing game again but I have a doubt.
Do you think it is better to buy the 2023 version or the 2022 one? Taking into account I haven't played for a long time, could you list the most important news compared to 2018?

Thank you in advance

Not sure if the 2022 version is still available to buy, but I think vs FM18 either one would be worth upgrading to. I'd recommend playing the free FM23 demo before buying so that you can decide for yourself, especially for the match engine. As a summary of the bigger changes:

  • Training changed a lot in FM19 (probably worth reading up on by itself, I wouldn't be able to do a good summary of the changes).
  • The Mentoring system is very different, instead of one-on-one mentoring you have groups of 3+ players and you can't ask a senior player to mentor a player in your youth team anymore, you need to promote them to the senior squad.
  • They introduce a Data Hub, and instead of “Clear Cut Chances” you have xG and a lot of other stat metrics to use.
  • The Match Engine itself has improved in each release; FM22 and the current FM23 MEs have an issue with AI teams centre backs just passing between each other all the time and attackers not being able to press them enough, so possession percentages and pass completion are artificially high. Hopefully this will change in the next FM23 update. Overall both FM22 and FM23 are more enjoyable than FM18 was in my opinion.
  • You can't change Team Shape (Fluid/Flexible/Structured etc) on its own in the tactic creator anymore, now that's decided based on your player roles and duties - More Attack/Defend = more structured, more Support = more fluid.
  • A few new roles were added (Wide Centre Back for a back 3/5, and Defensive Forward was renamed Pressing Forward and given more duties). The sweeper position/role is gone.
  • In FM23 they changed how AI managers use midfielders - in a 4-2-3-1 for example instead of 2 CMs they'll now play with 2 DMs because (according to SI at least) it more accurately reflects how a double pivot works in real life. Quite often before, AI managers would play a double pivot with “MC/AMC” players such as Mason Mount, Martin Ødegaard or Pedri (who can play as an 8 in a 4-3-3, but not really in a 4-2-3-1 in real life) without a true holding midfielder.
  • A lot of Team Instructions were reworked, and pressing is quite different with a Counter-Press instruction. The instructions have been separated into In Possession, Transition, and Out of Possession too.
  • There are preset Tactical Styles like Tiki-Taka, Gegenpress, Control Possession, Park the Bus that you can either customise or use as-is.
  • The Match UI has been changed completely, there's no more widgets and now it's just a few stock panels and a “Touchline Tablet”. You can use a custom skin to change this though.
  • VAR and Goal-line technology has been added.
  • The Scouting system has been revamped as well for FM23
  • There's a Development Centre for your youth teams and loaned-out players.
  • The Team Talk screen has been changed and looks pretty awful, instead of this it looks like which is “supposed to resemble the layout of the changing room”.
  • Press Conferences, International Management, Set Pieces and the 3D Graphics/Stadium Environment are pretty much the exact same as in FM18. The player models changed a bit and the player animations are a lot better now though.
  • There's a “Manager Induction” tutorial when you first begin a save.
  • And finally, the UI has a lot of purple in it now.

There are also quite a few reports of people finding the game being laggy in 3D even when they have powerful computers that should have no problem running it with max settings, so I do recommend you try the demo before buying.

@SC00P This comment might help if you're looking for source images for Barca B players - alternatively for youth players with no profile on the Barca website, they can have good (and larger) sources on their personal twitter/instagram pages or FCBMasia.

I think so - I can't find any other photos of him to confirm apart from this one from 2020 where he's wearing a face mask

@Cruzeiro2003 This image is blurry/pixellated because it has been upscaled from the original source. Cruzeiro have good quality sources for their players on their Flickr page.

@RedWolf55 Instead of taking screenshots of Instagram pictures, please upload the original source image. You can find the source image either by right-clicking on the image, clicking Inspect (or Inspect Element depending on your browser) and finding the image URL (for this photo) here:

Or by using a site like Inflact to download an Instagram photo for you.

Posting the original source images rather than a smaller screenshot means it's possible to create a better quality cutout 🙂

It's a bit of a strange haircut, true, but that's between him and his barber - it's a decent cut nonetheless imo.

I think it's just his hair being blown about by the wind (e.g. this pic from September looks less windswept) - I've uploaded another source from this season if that would be an improvement.

If you check that link, it contains the previous image included in this timeline and the same one that you've cut, which I've since moved to the correct person's timeline.

Or at least I think I have @weeniehutjr

The one uploaded by tv_capper is correct. For some reason you moved the correct cutout of Viereck (that you made last month but didn't add to the megapack) to Vink's timeline.

I've moved them back to this timeline now.

fyi @mons - the one completed last month is correct, the current MP cutout is Skye Vink (2000105651)

@Ronnie Pedersen What program do you use for cutting out images? It's left a white edge around the head ("snow"). I'd recommend using remove.bg instead which automatically provides an excellent quality cutout and removes that white edge. 👍

Also, please remember that the cutouts should be cropped to just a couple of pixels above the head and below the chin, instead of leaving so much space. Because we also want to include a bit of the collar in the cutouts, that might mean moving it up in Photoshop (or a similar application like a free alternative Photopea). This video shows how to do so:

Also @GingaMilla I found a slightly larger source image from UEFA's website instead of besoccer - a larger/better quality source image makes for a better quality cutout 👍

@Nuev'⁶₆⁷ Because you used sources where the face was smaller than 250px tall and upscaled them to fit, these cutouts are all significantly blurry, especially considering the players' current cutouts which are in most cases less than a year old and high quality.

If you'd like to create a new facepack for Strasbourg players, please try and look for the best possible source images instead of making cuts that aren't improvements over the current ones.

A good site for high-quality source images is Sorare - you can find their page of Strasbourg players here.

@Hannah Hannen The source you uploaded was a bit low resolution and pixellated because it's a screenshot of a smaller version - in the future, please try and upload the original sources (on gettyimages it's easy to get the sizes I posted below) 👍

@Nuev'⁶₆⁷ This cutout is significantly blurrier than the current, high quality cutout that was only made 6 months ago. It also has noticeable light edges around the hair ("snow") that should be corrected.

If a player already has a recent, high quality cutout, it makes no sense to replace it with an inferior one.

Hi, I paid for premium on Nov 29th, but it's still not showing up when I go to file downloads and keeps asking me to support still, can this be sorted please?

I've activated the premium status for your account now - it was showing as already activated in your shop order but for some reason didn't update on your profile.

Also (as a reminder to everyone and not just you), please remember to tag the site admin (@Footygamer) for issues with premium membership.

@11V22 The cutout isn't bad, but it's a bit washed-out compared to the player's existing cutout. If you have a source image like this, it's good practice to add a Brightness/Contrast adjustment (This can be done in Photoshop, or free alternatives like Photopea)

@Nuev'⁶₆⁷ In the future, when you have source images that are as small as these ones it's better to make the cutout 180px rather than 250px - upscaling them so much just makes them excessively blurry.

idk why i have 389890 faces, but thanks guys! xD

There are a few duplicate or erroneous images that were added to past megapack versions over the years but since removed from later config files and aren't counted towards the total number anymore - you can just ignore those ones 👍
