PSG-Barca has the promise of a good game. Although is Ibra still banned?

Benfica's an interesting one... we ideally need a result at the Stadium of Light, like we normally get.

Genuinely wouldn't surprise me if they didn't take action because of this "news" today.

Already confirmed he's escaped. It's amazing how much of a free ride that is.

So Ferdinand goes from seemingly nailed-on 3 game ban to England recall? Bullshit.

Because he's a much better player, basically.

EDITorry, that was a little more blunt than intended.

Basically, Hernandez is a great goal scorer but that's about it. On the ball outside the box he's a bit shit (but getting better), Welbeck is having problems inside the box at the minute but is one of our better players outside it, he's technically superb.

Also he's more versatile, so will get games on the wings whereas Hernandez won't.

Ah ok. It's an odd one because the stats show Hernandez scores more than both Rooney and Welbeck, but ofc RVP is the main MUFC goalscorer which means he's likelier to get a game and have one of the other two as a deeper partner.

Hernandez sounds a bit like Papiss Cisse - great finisher (most of the time) but meh general footballer. However as a striker Welbeck doesn't seem to do much.

Man United are doing an 'ask Valencia' thing on Facebook, bad timing for that.

My favourite so far:

If one man can stand up to numerous tanks in Tiananmen Square, why can't you beat a man any more?

Nearly every Twitter/FB "ask ..." is a bad idea. Saying that, that riposte is impressive

You'd think after the clusterfuck of Wolves' sackings/demotions clubs in relegation dogfights would be wary about such decisions. Evidently not.

Probably OT but do any Man U fans know why Wellbeck gets so much game-time, particularly at the expense of the much more prolific Hernandez?

Watched Newcastle-Stoke - our crossing was uniformally dreadful all afternoon so it was good that Stoke's penalty was the kick up the arse we needed to win it. Fantastic stuff - we've got a chance of top half now.

I reckon it's funnier how people will lie to themselves to refuse to give Redknapp any sort of credit whatsoever

It'd be a lie to say he deserves no credit - what I'm saying is that we'd get the amount of credit multiplied tenfold and then rammed down our throats for time immemorial.

My word the media wankfest over the prospect of QPR surviving. If they do survive I think I might become lactose intolerant from all the cheesy platitudes Harry Redknapp will get.

Saying that Townsend and Jenas did score some brilliant strikes today.

Should Tevez be allowed to play given he was arrested incredibly recently?

We played Tiote against Metalist the day after he got arrested for his own driving errors, and tbf there was Pennant playing once with a criminal electronic tag on his sock.

Football: ADDICKS EYE CHRISTIAN AID... FROM RONALDO.

Byline: TONY STENSON

CHARLTON are chasing Ronaldo... Christian Ronaldo from Sporting Lisbon and his strike partner Ricardo Quaresma.

Manager Alan Curbishley has had both players watched recently and received glowing reports.

His latest check was a recent Portuguese under-20 international against Greece.

Curbishley admits his problem has been the lack of goals - Jason Euell is top with five in the league. "The transfer window stays open for a month so there's no hurry to act without thought, but I am not ruling out moves," said.

Charlton have a good reputation in Portugal after the signing of Jorge Costa from Porto.

CAPTION(S):

CURBISHLEY: Reports

If I remember correctly we tried to sign him and instead signed Hugo Viana, who never really fit again. Maybe Ronaldo would've been like that if he'd wound up at SJP.

It was the fans complaining not the club.

True but I guess its a similar principle. It's a circular thing given that, at the same time this furore first begun ahead of the Arsenal-MCFC game, there were protestations from Liverpool fans they were being charged similarly AOT figures. The amazing one was the Southampton fans being charged £53 for the opening day outing at MCFC.

Ticket pricing is a mess across the board anyway. I suppose it's discussed in circles almost every week/month/year but any further rises and surely you'll see more empty seats. Be a bit much too given the bumload of cash Sky & BT are throwing at the league next year.

Didn't Harry Redknapp say that the wage bill needed to be reduced when he took over?!

I hope for their sake that a few clauses have been written into players contracts.

I hate to think what their wage bill is like atm if that was the figure before Mark Hughes was mistakenly handed a chequebook.

The most worrying thing about that is that an injury to either Steven Taylor or Mapou means that we have Mike Williamson potentially back in our defence... the horror.

We seem to be doing pretty well in Moscow defensively, but we don't really have a striking option...

They're charging £45 in their own end for good measure.

It's ironic City started the whole ticket price row when they're amongst the 5 priciest clubs in the fucking league.

Nile Ranger is fucking awful.

The 3 goals he scored for us were all tap in's into empty nets too, in the 50-odd games he played.

He scored one half-decent one at Chelsea when we won there in the Carling Cup but yeah all his other goals were tap-ins and he missed a number of those as well. And it's actually 65 games (more or less) he played for us, which is even more depressing if you think about it.

It's kinda disappointing we offloaded the more able Lovenkrands and Best, but retained that clown.

Apparently that club might be Wolves. Given their situation they might be mad enough to try it.

Le Newcàstlé.

I like how half-arsed that card display looks.

Still, we won. Sounded a good game - much better than the dull shitfest at the Etihad.

Cisse could have had 5 or 6 tonight, missed 2 sitters and scored 2 perfectly good goals.

Poor display from the linesmen.

Offside or not there's clearly something wrong with Cisse - he's could've already had 20 goals this season but seems to miss so many easy sitters.

Villa deserved the three points, much the better side.

No stand-out performers, Jaaskelainen and Carroll were especially poor, seems laughable that we will be paying £15+ million for him at the end of the season.

Give it another couple of weeks and we will be down there fighting for our lives.....

Apparently we want Carroll for £10million. At the rate his season's progressing we might get him for £1million.

Where has Ben Afra been all this season? Such a brilliant player to watch, is he injured?

Ever-present until November, got an injury, made it worse when we rushed him back at Fulham, and he was going to play against Chelsea or Spurs but then got a virus, and won't be back until the date above. Shame.

Should be back for the Southampton game though... good as that really is a must-win but given how the Saints have looked of late that's easier said than done. Obviously being in Ukraine three days before makes it harder.
