Suppose the refereeing performance today levelled out the one from Goodison as we should have had a clear penalty and the Baines freekick should not have been given.

We didn't play too badly in the first half - we need players back from injury and new ones and fast though.

Suppose but it is a weird contrast that Fellaini, who effectively used a Stoke defender as a punching bag in his last outing, essentially fell over his own feet and got rewarded for it.

I'm bored of being involved in games described as "entertaining for the neutrals" where we still lose - against Norwich I'd happily take a scrappy 1-0 win with a goal from the game's only shot on target. Alas it does seem we don't have the defenders for that sort of thing.

Alan Pardrew did say you lot where in a different league to Everton.

What a fucking strike by Baines, HE'S GOT A FOOT LIKE A TRACTION ENGINE, STRIKERRRRRR!

Any more shit like this and he will be right. Even if the Baines strike wasn't a free-kick in the first place.

1-1. Blast

With the amount of free-kicks we were conceding it felt inevitable one of them would wind up in the net, if not quite from the range Baines managed to thwack it in from

Teamsheet is in:
Krul - Perch, Willo, Colo, Santon - Tiote, Anita - Cisse, Marveaux, Obertan - Shola

I'm amazed - if the main argument of the "Ba Out" brigade was that Cisse was being marginalised by Ba forcing him into a wide role, why exactly are we simply giving Shola the Ba role as our spearhead?

If we lose tonight I'm guessing the "Ba move speculation disrupted our planning" excuse gets an airing.

As for new strikers, there's speculation that a deal for Loic Remy is going to be done after we complete the Debuchy move.

Newcastle club statement has confirmed Chelsea have officially bid for Demba Ba, so he will be free to talk with them and will not be considered for selection against Everton this evening.

At least by moving quickly there's no threat of it being like the Andy Carroll farce.

In a Guardian article on the Ba conundrum comes this series of hardly promising quotes...
He moved to Newcastle on a free transfer in 2011, agreeing a partial pay-as-you- play deal – understood to involve a basic £20,000 a week and another £20,000 for each appearance – after failing another medical.

"I don't need a surgeon to tell me about Demba's knee," Pardew said but he subsequently acknowledged that the striker suffers some discomfort in the knee joint.

The precise nature of the problem is a closely guarded secret. Pardew has described it as "a deficiency", revealed there "is a photograph [MRI scan] of Demba's knee looking very poorly" and indicated it will almost certainly cause him problems in the future.

One plausible theory is that chondral defects, namely the holes in the articular cartilage which spell bad news for footballers, could be involved but the issue has become something of a taboo subject.

Interesting he reportedly failed a medical at NUFC but we signed him anyway. Would Chelsea be prepared to take similar risks?

There's elements of both in PSG tbf - both he supports them and they have enough cash to fund the next Greek bailout.

He's definitely an arse if he joins QPR, mind.

Ba's move has apparently collapsed after "unproductive talks".

I reserve the right to say that any move would be heavily motivated by the money involved, mind.

I went to go see Jack Reacher on Friday. It was alright - nothing spectacular.

I saw The Muppets movie as well, which was surprisingly good

I'm far too irritated by the fact we made a house of cards look stable to give a fuck how long they celebrated each goal tbh. It does say a lot they waited until they had buried us to do so, mind.

I red a report the other day (might've been yesterday) saying a transfer breaks down as £12.5M, with £5M to his agent and £2.5M to the striker himself, not to mention the other expenses of an £80,000-a-week plus wage bill and the complication of any medical he undergoes.

PaddyPower is quoted odds of 325/1 that this will finish 4-3 QPR... worth a flutter?

Can't they have Cisse instead?

With Ba gone, Cisse could start scoring again. But it's a bit of a risky gamble to do that.

Then again, with Cisse back in the middle, it means he won't be shoehorned into the wing role he looks distinctly uncomfortable in.

Can't see him playing wide with Moses, Mata, Hazard, Oscar, Marin etc.

Bench, then. Hope the doubled wages are worth it.

So Ba forces us to change our tactic because he hates playing out wide, then moves to Chelsea, who will almost certainly make him play out wide because of the presence of Torres. Fucking idiot.

Tbf to Arsenal, 7-3 was the first time they looked remotely secure in the lead.

I am sure we won't go down but we have been poor almost all season and if we don't buck up our ideas we'll be in the mixer rather than being on the fringes of it.

We need to buy three-five players in January and hope HBA, Cabaye and S. Taylor don't suffer reprises of their various ailments to be sure, mind

I don't get the fuss. They are a small club.

I think he's still annoyed that the four points we nabbed off his bunch cost them the title last year.

Weren't Blackburn top of the league when Kean resigned?

3rd, which is still 14 places higher than where they have wound up.

It makes no sense they didn't sack him in the summer despite the farcical way the club went down, and then forced him out just as he seemed to be approaching something resembling coherence.

As much as a move would be a horrifically stupid idea I wouldn't put it past Venky's to reappoint Steve Kean.

It's the kind of dumb move I would expect. If they'd just sacked him when they got relegated, which is what I expected at that time, they might not be in such a mess.
