Also, given how Falcao and Emmanuel Riviere adjusted from playing for Monaco to playing in England, I'm surprised there are BPL clubs willing to buy a CF from them.
Might be a more worthwhile investment than some of the players Arsenal have bought down the years tbf.

I do wonder though if we're getting more yellows/reds than we should be because we're getting a reputation as a dirty team, similar to Blackburn and Bolton when they were BPL mainstays. The ones Mbemba and Thauvin were booked for didn't look like bookings, even if Wijnaldum didn't help by getting booked for sarcastically applauding the only Arsenal booking (least that's what I heard - I missed the first ten or so of the second half but heard on radio that was the reason).
The club are apparently going to appeal Mitrovic's red, but in all reality, why bother - I don't think we've had a red repealed in about ten years.

A proper "Who's the worst?" contest. Thrilling.

True. Even if it took me a while to register it given the shite resolution of my stream. I'm not entirely convinced it was a red, but I sense any appeal is going to be met with a near-instant "Nope", even if it wasn't intentional. Certainly not like that foul on Targett against Southampton on his debut.
We're really doing our best to collect red cards. Reminds me of my FM10 save.

Well, you called it.
Given that England's coefficient is in danger of being overtaken by Italy, its hardly a promising start.

Also reports of a shooting in Louisiana where a cop has been hospitalised - this in a state where a cinema shooting took place last month.
I don't get how America can have more guns than people, and more gun deaths per 1,000 than anywhere in the Western world, and still claim to not having a problem. It makes no fucking sense.

Blimey that's a depressing thought.
Its a worrying trend that this need for relentless documentation has overtaken everything else. Its bad enough that so many people are so self-absorbed that they need to put a photo of themselves up on social media every few hours, or that crowds are always full of smartphone wielders. But its ridiculous that people feel the need for this above both empathy for fellow man, or for self-preservation.

I do think that Steven Taylor is one of our better defenders, and him & Colo together looked secure as a CB combination. Hopefully we'll keep him fit for once. Mbemba's still learning but his game wasn't too bad, even if BT kept hammering him as a weak link (I heard - watched a US stream on mute, like I normally do). Also Haidara had a better game than he had against Saints/Swans.
Dunno how much helped by the fact Man United were playing without an in-form striker, and I do think Anita and Colback had fairly anonymous first 45's. Krul was good though. For once. Thauvin also looked half-decent in his 20 cameo. If only he was about 1mph quicker - we'd have got that later winner. But oh well.
In terms of ins, McClaren said they may still bring in one big money buy. Do you think we still need such a buy?

... oh and impressive from Portsmouth coming from 3-0 and a man down to draw.

Superb goal indeed.
And yeah. Presumably Sky is banking on them still having a big fanbase from their Champions League semi-final days.

I also can't help but wonder why the standard of corners and crossing was as sub-par as it was. In terms of both teams, the corner taking was largely shit, and there were lots of terrible crosses too.

Considering how abominable our defending was at Swansea last week, and indeed we've only kept 3 clean-sheets since November, it makes a genuinely nice change to see us keep a clean sheet and produce a rather decent defensive showing. Sure, Anita and Colback were invisible for long periods, but it was a decent showing nevertheless.
Hopefully its a sign the first win isn't too far away.

Presumably to save time the referee might as well book him in the tunnel. Though as I've just taken him out of my Fantasy PL team after picking him in the first two weeks, I bet he grabs a fucking hat-trick.

I think there's bigger issues in further west outposts (Exeter, Plymouth, Yeovil, etc) with the location thing, and Bristol as a city is not the worst place. But I do agree that compared with the likes of London or Manchester, its gonna struggle. Maybe its a case that they had too much faith in those who walked League One last year, but haven't made it Championship ready, or that Cotterill is not a Championship ready gaffer.

I think Steven Taylor is better than Williamson, or at least he would be more convincingly if his limbs weren't made of felt and he kept having 5+ month injury layoffs.
Abdennour doesn't convince me as a rumoour, given I don't see us spending more than £10million on a player in the rest of the window. Which is fair enough - we're currently Europe's 5th largest net spenders after all, and we're probably heading for an FFP rule break (although granted UEFA don't seem to care anymore).
Who knows. We'll see what happens I guess. Still don't buy the line we still maintain a passing interest in a Mr. C. Austin from West London.

Presumably success last year has re-ignited his interest. Funny that.
Meanwhile Gray has been linked with Burnley. Which seems more like the deal I was expecting. It must be annoying to be BCFC though if they're prepared to spend mahoosive cash and still not get the players they want/need.

Very odd film. Enjoyable in the moment, and refreshing to see a superhero film not about a demi-god (or bunch of them) saving the world, but maybe superhero fatigue is catching up with me because it wasn't as good as it could've been.

I thought the billionaire owner of BCFC was seeking to offload or restrain his investment. Least that's what I heard when they were relegated to the 2nd tier two years ago.
