#238549 Transfer Rumours 2014/15

Are they going for the "Receive big money, invest it in sub-par tosh for all positions" routine Spurs and Liverpool have done?

Yeah - Cisse was wasted out wide in the first half of 2012/13 and then did virtually fuck all in 2013/14.
The only attacker he really managed that well was possibly our weakest in that period in Shola Ameobi. The fact he failed to even score in the Turkish Second Division misadventure hints he was playing at a level above and beyond his actual ability. Fuck knows what led to Pardew calling him "the Geordie Tevez" in his first half-season.
Curiously, Cabella has looked better since Pardew left. Which is one of the few bright spots of the post-Pards era at the very least, even if - as was the case before he pissed off - he needs a goal threat. The potential is there at the very least.

I'd say part of our improvement for that run was not just because Cabella got dropped, and he did contribute two assists. It helped that Pardew changed his tactics for the first time in 2014 and also dropping Gouffran helped, as in a way did the injury to Tiote, who has been a liability both before and after his injury. Granted you wanna get more than a few assists for £12-oddmillion, but he's not completely hopeless. He's also better at ball retention than Sammy Ameobi, who seems to lose the ball almost as much as he does anything with it.
Before this season, we'd already seen Pardew failing to manage various attacking players well at various points so its plausible he'd fail to manage Cabella well too. I'd also say he's managed Riviere badly, or at least would if Riviere looked anything more than hopeless.

My mistake.
Perez out wide doesn't work for me. Seems that whenever we shove him out there his influence fades.
I know Cabella's not been exactly brilliant, but he's not the waste of a shirt Gouffran normally counts, and can seem to control the ball better than Sammy Ameobi. I'm not disputing his output is less than Obertan's though, which is not a statement I thought I would say. Same with Aarons, even if he can't seem to stay fit for more than two games at a time.

You would have thought with Bony going he might be preparing for a run in the first team rather than planning an exodus.

Least its not the conspiracy theory talk regarding a link between the £40million Ashley leant SportsDirect just before Christmas and that money that I recently saw somewhere online. Although I do wish he'd either buy Rangers or stop trying to interfere with them as its not helping.
Fletcher at £15million was basically pissing away cash.

But frankly, who knows if its true or not. The amount of direction and misdirection means both could be.

Is this the first time this season Arsenal have won without Sanchez scoring or assisting?
I'd have that but with Cabella instead of Ameobi. Right now Tiote isn't playing well enough for the bench.
I'm expecting Pardew to win enough to get within a win of lapping us, then go on a long term losing run. Its something he seems prolific at.
Is it that time of year already?
Abeid was on the NUFC bench yesterday. With any luck he'll be in the starting 11 against Hull.

He's been disappointingly mute.
Don't know how bad it was but the pitch for the Bury-Wycombe game looked absurd.

Its a problem that I've felt for many seasons with Pardew, which is a lack of attacking plan and urgency. Yes, bodies are going forward, but you never get the sense there is a cohesive strategy. Doubly so given that the only goal came from a fluke for a player who hadn't scored in almost 2 whole days worth of football.
It wasn't a terrible performance, and there were players who did well enough. It still wasn't that good though. Janmaat was terrible, Coloccini was poor again and Sissoko was a passenger. I'm not sure about Anita being decent, but he wasn't as terrible as was he was against Leicester, and Gouffran was certainly better than most of his non-events in 2014.
What does our strongest 11 look like? There's quite a few possible tactics and selections when everyone's first - once in a lifetime occurrence, mind - and certainly it does require a slight shift to put SDJ in that number 10 role. Abeid certainly has to go in front of Tiote, although I bet whoever's in charge when both are back will be picking Tiote for another one of his liability games. Still need a new CB though.
Also, are we good enough to keep our of the relegation battle? There are plenty of social media abusing tosspots who think we should be because we thought Pardew needed removing before he dragged us there, but that bottom 3 is getting uncomfortably closer.

Pardew or Carver?
The problem is that tactically there's not much different, except possibly the inclusion and run for Cabella. Granted this game saw the luck go a smidgeon against with the Janmaat deflection and the handball ignorance on 90+1, but there were moments were it felt that Newcastle could go to 5am and not score.

He goes on winning runs and losing runs. He'll be on the latter soon enough.

If it was properly done there'd have been bigger punishments than the ones Man City ever did.
I was under the assumption that since the 7-1 hiding by Bayern Munich he'd not been quite as good as he had been until then.

Be interesting to see if he is able to meet the potential, and also if it fucks up Man City's FFP even more.
I guess but missing six months of the campaign with injury is not nice to see, particularly the injuries he got.
Still annoyed he looked better at CB against us than of our CB's have for most of the season.

Allegedly Roma are planning on returning Yanga-Mbiwa. Maybe that might work.

Sounds a bit like the bulk of our wins in 2011/12 tbf.
Tbf we play better with Tiote out of the team so I doubt I'd be that opposed to him going.
I'm usually fine with waiting until rumours happen or not, but its annoying we always seem to be linked with selling a key player or 3.

Do we ever plan to go one window without selling anyone? Sure, if we get £10million, not a bad deal, but selling Sissoko and/or Cisse without a replacement in mind - again - is a fucking silly idea.

The stat floating around said that was during a 0-0 draw with Arsenal that confirmed their third Premier League title in a row.
Slightly less glamorous circumstances today. Although weird to think that was Ronaldo and Tevez's last MUFC home game.

Tbf there was a point when they seemed to have it reserved. But no Ligue 1 for Lyon since 2008, although they do have the French record of 7 in a row, which is not bad given the first of those seven was their first ever Ligue 1 title.

Lyon stopped winning Ligue 1's long before Garde turned up. He simply seemed to expand their remit from regular top 3 to top 5, but given they've had major financial cutbacks and sold a lot of key players (Lloris, Lovren and Pjanic, for examples), it could have been worse. Who knows why its taking so long though..
He has since Tweeted he's not leaving this month and rumours he would be aren't to be believed.

Meanwhile, some "Business Consultant" on Twitter is claiming a £245million takeover is in the works. Doubt it.

To be fair I sympathise - since 2012/13, Villa and Newcastle have had similarly bad league records. There are stats that show our record is little better than Villa's, and for those two and a half years, Villa have endured some appalling form. But there was a zeal in the way press cut into us for wanting Pardew dismissed, and I know Villa fans think Lambert is shit despite those in the board saying he keeps stability or bullshit to that effect, so I'm waiting for the press to say similar articles.
In fairness to Villa fans, Lambert is terrible. That new deal at the start of the campaign looks really stupid right now, and your upcoming fixture list looks like a challenge.
