Has been postponed due to a waterlogged pitch. We were going to lose anyway

Having seen photos that the ball was floating when put in the corner, it was probably not a surprise it was postponed.
Shocking.

They have such a strong history in red. Shocking.

Tbf, imagine the outcry if in their first season of red they'd been relegated to League 1.

Steve Bruce and Harry Redknapp have piped up in support, with Bruce even revealing himself as a believer in his innocence. Good grief.

Meanwhile, Greg Dyke has said the FA doesn't feel the need to intervene in this case. Which is not exactly very helpful.

Been confirmed that Cardiff will revert to blue as their home colours, with speculation that they might revert as soon as tomorrow's game against Fulham.

Gordon Taylor on BBC Radio:
Well he wouldn't be the first person or persons to have been found guilty and to maintain their innocence and then been proved right. If we're talking about thngs in football, we know what happened, what was alleged to have happened at Hillsborough, and it's now unravelling, and we're finding that it was very different to how it was portrayed at the time, indeed by the police at the time.

Oh fuck off.

I don't know if he did or didn't do it, and I don't think its my place to comment on that. My own view is that it should be up to clubs themselves if they wanna take a risk with the PR war that would inevitably follow signing him, and that fans and sponsors should be allowed to say so if they want to associate him with their club.

As I said in the other thread, I do wish the people who support him would stop revealing the victim's new identity, electronically hounding them, and encouraging others who support Evans' case to do so. Its nauseating behaviour, and its even more of a pisstake that he won't publicly recognise the fact this shit is happening.

He's been woeful tonight

Been woeful for quite a while. His assist for Jack Colback in Everton's defeat at our place was quite something.

For me, Sissoko is a similar player to Matuidi. I cant see them both in the team together and to pay 25 mil for someone who is basically the same player, role and ability wise, when PSG are tight with FFP seems a bit odd.

There was a rumour a little while ago that PSG might try a part exchange deal with Sissoko moving to Paris and Cabaye returning to Newcastle. I personally didn't believe the offer at the time, and it seems to have since fallen by the wayside.

In actual transfer topics, Sky are reporting Wilfried Bony is in advanced talks with Man City ahead of a £30million transfer.

Meanwhile, Newcastle have denied Moussa Sissoko is in talks with PSG for a £25million transfer. Given how little PSG used Cabaye, I really don't know why he would be that keen on moving. In saying that I said that about Cabaye last year and he still left.

Evans is certainly worth its own thread. There's a lot of comment on both sides.

For the record, I don't have strong views and do understand both sides, but I do wish the people supporting him stop hounding the victim. I've read somewhere she's had to move and change her identity five times because that website supporting his innocence keeps doing revealing the new ones. Presumably that's a possible contempt of court charge in waiting.

Aston Villa vs Bournemouth is a very decent chance for an upset.

Cambridge vs Man Utd will probably be like Yeovil. Although an upset in that one would be quite something.

That's a understatement. Martin Tyler was basically full-on depressed when City beat Everton at the tail end of the season

I don't remember that but I do remember the commentary for going flat when Man City scored. Same as well in the Liverpool-Newcastle game on the final day when Newcastle were leading.

MCFC did get the praise of it in 2011/12 because they were the best team that season, they hadn't won the league in decades, and they ultimately won the league in thrilling fashion. Not so much since then though. But then even if and when City become financially self-sufficient, they'll still get criticised for spending a Third World country's GDP before doing so.

Except City never got any praise in the media at all. Other teams always fuck up, City never do good is a really shitty narrative the media have been pushing the last few seasons

It was especially the case last season - a lot of the media seemed to be prematurely declaring Liverpool the greatest Premier League champions ever before Gerrard's bellyflop, and there were some that seemed quite disappointed Man City won the title.

Bit of a disappointing lack of upsets really - Sheffield United win lots of Cup games, and QPR tend to exit them at the earliest possible opportunity, so I was expecting that, if not quite a 3-0. Maybe the next round might provide something a bit more out there.
Cabella apparently lost the plot with Anita at some point during the game, I missed it.

He gave him a simple 5 yard pass and Anita miscontrolled the ball under no pressure at all.

It was near where I sat (in with the homes) and I remember Cabella did look fucked off that the ball landed with Anita, who lost it. Cabella did look increasingly annoyed near the end that he was being asked to do virtually all of the running, and had nobody in support. Riviere in particular was appalling.
Fletcher and Savage absolutely wanking themselves raw over Pardew and Palace as if they were the fucking underdogs throughout that match.

What a shite commentary team, sums up BT's football personnel really, except Jake Humphrey, please leave Jake before it's too late!

They were on 606 all the way home on Saturday and Savage in particular was an irritating shitehawk.

I was hoping for Dover to win as I've found the media's joy at Pardew leaving Newcastle irritating - not least given they were the ones trying to hound him for his headbutt - but evidently I backed the wrong horse in this one. Spurs next Saturday might be the harder comedown for them.

French saying Remi Garde has held talks on the job, while Sunday Sun think Ketsbaia is in the frame.

Not sure on either - although the former's Lyon record looks good - but can't be any worse than John Carver getting it full time for any length. We had a discussion on here a little while ago about the idea that the first team coaching was sub-standard under Pardew, and it doesn't look like giving them the bump up will function.

Join the club. Football has a habit of ruining otherwise palatable weekends.

It would appear so.

Riviere was utterly insipid, Vuckic looked anonymous, Armstrong was wasted out wide, and Anita was totally without merit. Only one who seemed to try in the front six was Cabella, and it didn't look as though anyone was on his wavelength. The defence wasn't as bad as it has been recently, and neither was Alnwick, but if this is what life without Sissoko and Perez is like, we're in fucking trouble.

The stupid thing is that if Carver gets the four wins we need to maintain the Premier League cashpile, we're learning nothing at all from the fucking aberration last season descended into.

Carver confirming in his post match that Steven Taylor is out for the season with Achilles tendon damage.

So that's Coloccini (not in his most convincing form) partnering Williamson (urgh) or Dummett (can't be as disastrous there as he was at LB today) unless a new CB is found. Yippee.

It was very funny.

Less so was the insipid defending and terrible subs in the second half. Shame was we were good in the first half. The equally depressing thing is that the team was on the same tactical boards Pardew would've used - Carver is not going to be changing things. We can only hope Palace buy Williamson and Gouffran so that those on high might be motivated to buy a decent centre back and use someone who does more than runs around a bit in the LW slot.
