Season 2 over, this club just wants to seemingly stagnate.

Let's start with the most interesting part, for me anyway, the transfers:

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/f87kDaH2d21iLKfiJ8Q1qglRDEb40XyPL2xP3ud7.png

As mentioned earlier in the thread, Balotelli was a little bitch and hence I shipped him off after his mutiny.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/50AAdfJJyMDski3Ab4ftXEqzz8D6M2Cn0seW2exS.png

In the cup we narrowly lost to eventual cup winners, Celta Vigo. Definitely a bogey side.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/dXHqaQdBv0qqYIEjUz1M57KyNjvzOdSUdzaZFwFs.png

I just...I...I think I am still in recovery from that second leg against Sporting. They were rampant. They went on to lose 2-3 to Lyon in the final, so didn't go out to the cup winners this competition!

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/KIt5ha5XkqatzoyslsrxtbGLZxlHy6TjFYktGPN8.png

Was never happy with our lack of real consistency.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/RwF9adIxmkypg9zNaIFL6Me54zjtoAZHyA8QH7Ca.png

We finished worse than last season, 1 place and 3 points. Disappointed. Qualified for the Europa League again for what it's worth thanks to Vigo winning the copa del rey.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/VJPaAab9Dd9bxQK6YwoFHpdRqUGQv7fH13wMr20w.png

I know this is also irrelevant but thought I would include it as my U19s had a stonking season. Young regen scored 35 goals or something crazy.

Down to business, the points!

League - 7th - 5pts
Copa Del Rey - Qtr Final - 10 pts
Europa League - 2nd KO - 5 pts
Season 2 Total = 20 points.

+ Season 1 Total - 30 points

Overall Total = 50 points

Meh!

Second leg, here we go. Live on ITV4 for those in the UK. Everton are playing in an ugly kit though.

Did you not see Uniteds group? Honestly think they'll be happiest with the draw for the British clubs. Liverpoo should qualify and think it'l be between them and Sevilla for the top spot.

Can't see Spurs advancing, Chelsea could also face a tricky route through too as Roma (third seeds) aren't exactly a walk over along with AT Madrid as well.

Honestly, no I didn't. What else do we expect from Man United though, they usually get a nice draw in such things! So okay, they have the best chance... followed by Liverpool.

Spurs and Chelsea will be in the Europa League come New Year!

Good draws for Burton and Doncaster, don't see them going through but the cash will be welcome!

Burnley v Leeds, cue Wood scoring the decisive goal! Huddersfield visit Palace again too! I imagine the line ups will be very different to when they just met in the League though.

When are the games set to be played? Will West Ham be able to play at home then?

Ryan Mason seeks third opinion on coming back to play football after skull fracture.

I'm kind of torn about this. Obviously if this third doctor says he shouldn't, then it's a no-brainer. However, if the doctor says he can go back to playing football professionally...would it be something you would be comfortable with if it was you? One doctor suggesting it would not be safe for me to play football would be enough to make me throw in my boots I reckon, even if two others said it'd be alright. I don't know the ins and outs of it, so maybe something like a skull cap rugby and Cech style may prove the difference in which case fair enough. Feel sorry for the guy though, don't think he really has had a proper run at a career as a footballer. Spurs shipped him out here, there and everywhere and just as it was picking up at Hull for him he suffered this injury...

I'm sure if he did chose to retire from football the FA would fast track his coaching and Hull or Spurs would bring him in as a youth coach or something to get him on his feet!

Rooney retires

Fair play to him. Should help him keep fit for Everton now and stops Southgate having to shoe-horn him in.

Should be beneficial for both!

Maybe @Rob could put in a column that shows UID for the clubs on pages like this:

https://sortitoutsi.net/football-manager-2017/league/7540024/romanian-first-league

Don't know how easy that would be or time consuming what with the live data update at the moment.

At least there is a list of the teams in the league in you do get time to go one by one.

I guess the flight took it out of Celtic because that game was a lot closer than it should have been!

Hoping for a good game at Anfield tonight.

Tough Opposition (Franjo: A Journeyman Story - Ep61)

At some point I'm hoping that someone will stake a claim to be our nailed-on starting right winger, but until that happens you can call me Lazy Susan, because I'll keep rotating.

For some reason this line got me more than it should Probably just the referral to a lazy susan, rather obtuse.

Anyways, 2 points from two top 4 teams away from home is not to be sniffed at for a newly promoted team!

Glad you're back writing!

Another highly entertaining and thrilling encounter at La Stade de Gigg ends with yet ANOTHER loss. This time 2-3 against Brizzle Rovers Gas Franchise, who were absolutely pants before this game so probably a banker that they would be beating us.

YAY

Your 2 goals came in injury time too, no?

Speaking of goal fests, our games at the keepmoat always are and yesterday was no different. It finished 3-3, even though Donny only had 2 shots on target! Allsop, on loan from Bournemouth, put in another sub par performance in our net and Bowyer keeps playing negatively away from home. It's a game we should have won.

Rumours are we didn't play young Bright as he may be off to Brighton!

I'm currently on a trip round Europe, so will be giving this one a shot when I'm home on Sunday! Looking forward to it. Some varying scores so far...

Well it seems to be some people download a tactic and then sim through it, whereas others go through all the annoyance this Valencia squad seem to offer!

I'm just about into January on season 2 now, just about because Balotelli decided to try his hand at a coup in December. I had the last laugh so far, selling him off. However, my league form needs to drastically improve or I may well be following him out of the door...

Well.

For a start Barca can suck one, especially with the clauses they're offering. It's 80 million spread over 5 years, rest is stupid clauses. If they want him then they can pay up front for him.

Also he would be a big loss, as seen today we look very one dimensional at times. Re goalkeeper I think we're fine, there's no one out there available that would improve us. More pressing to sort out CB situation either way. LB Robertson looked better there today, Moreno has looked better in pre-season but I would still make him into a midfielder a la Bale at Spurs.

Ah, didn't know it was all promises and IOUs in terms of fee payment for Coutinho. In that case, fair enough in waiting for the offer to be in actual cash!

I suppose in creativity you have a point. Llallana is out injured but of course is not the sole answer. I think it also highlights the weakness in deeper midfield. Henderson is over rated, Wijnaldum is not a creator either and I think Can should start ahead of either of them anyway.

Recreating Moreno into a forward player is a must.

I just don't think Klopp can build a balanced squad.

Starting to go off Klopp a bit...

Sell Coutinho, he wants to go and there are enough attacking players in the Liverpool squad to cope with his loss. £114 million is in line with the over the odds prices that players are going for. Use the money to buy a goalkeeper and a left back.

Secondly, get over yourself and reinstate Sahko into the defence. Klavan is a liability and Gomez is not ready for the Premiership, at least not at a top side. Lovren and Matip and irregular at best too. Moreno? Nothing needs saying here that isn't already known about his defensive capabilities.

Everton making seemingly light work of Hajduk tonight it seems. Thought this would be more of a struggle tbh

They were definitely much better than in the earlier round. As the game was getting close to an end Hajduk definitely grew into it and were creating some good chances. Everton could easily have had double the amount they scored, though.

The Hajduk fans went from being really good and creating an atmosphere then all of a sudden they started in-fighting, ripping up chairs, kicking down advertising boards and trying to rush the stewards and police to get on the pitch. Mental.

Taking A Winter Break (Franjo: A Journeyman Story - Meta-sode 60.5)

So, what I didn't really consider at the start of the season is that a Lotto Ekstraklasa season contains a rather large (2 Month) winter break. It's taking a while to play through so there'll be no episodes next week while I get everything sorted. We'll come back strong next Monday (14th) and hopefully try to climb into the top 8 by the end of the season!

As always, thanks for your patience, thanks for your feedback and thanks so much for reading.

Cheers,

Franjo

Brought in 6 loan signings Would have been 7 but Kenedy from Chelsea got injured in preseason so I sent him back! Three players in on, or close enough to, transfer deadline day...hope my team gels in time!

Hoping to finish this at weekend but potentially busy most of the next week now...

5 live are reporting that Gareth Barry has moved from Everton to WBA.

Also, that Sigurdsson's move from Swansea to Everton has also gone through at £45mill.

I don't know how much the Barry move facilitated that
