The whole defence at City needs culling.

In other wild gossip, supposedly we're after Juanma from Hearts after he's been frozen out by the manager. I really don't see that happening!

Photo doesn't load.

Although that tickets thing is very very dodgy looking. Worst thing for the boycott also may well be Blackpool starting well, given that might start to attract people back even with the fuckwits still running the joint.

Hmm, loaded on the three different computer/tablet/phone I tried, have attached it here anyway.

Yes, that is the worry

Don't think the Community Shield is worthy of its own thread, so will post here about it.

Kick off today at 4pm, Leicester v Man United. Mourinho does not have a good record in the competition, I think the Leicester players will be more up for it too. As such, I'm going to plump for a 3-2 Leicester win!

Fair few interesting bits and bobs from that opening weekend... Forest v Burton looked like a great match, Blackburn look doomed already, Grant Ward had the debut of a lifetime, more people turned up at Blackpool than I thought would (least judging by highlights), and I had no idea Jay Spearing was still at Bolton. Is he still pulling wages over £40k a week?

Official attendance was 3,754. View from the terraces, amongst the away fans:

http://www.backhenrystreet.co.uk/attachment.php?aid=2144

Far too many scabs for my liking. People with piss poor excuses such as "I need my football fix", "I've been a season ticket holder all my life and won't stop now", "I'm taking my son, like my dad did with me", "I take my Gran for the day out" - and more ridiculous points which completely miss the point. Go and watch AFC Blackpool, AFC Fylde, even the Codheads but don't go to Bloomfield and give that horrible family your money. Oyston's were obviously worried about the attendance as they were giving away lots of free tickets. Speaking of tickets, HMRC might be interested to see the tickets that were paid for: https://twitter.com/aidangreen/status/762015592614420480 . To continue the derision of those attending, a member of our Supporters' Trust who in their own words are at the "forefront of the ethical boycott", has renewed her season ticket

Otherwise, I believe we won the game through a deflected shot and an own goal. E I E I O...

I didn't think Swansea were going to do well this season, selling off their strikers. Now they have Llorente, whom I've always been fond of, and they seem to be bolstering their striker ranks with Borja from Atletico Madrid.

Shit the bed, we actually made a decent signing, albeit on loan.

Great name too, Michael Cain join Blackpool for season.

Was at Walsall last season and their fans seem to like him, too good for League 2 even!

It turns out it is at the request of West Ham as they wanted the game to be a sell out and worried it would have a low attendance if on TV

I'm now fully up to date on the story as it is with gameplay.

Will continue to update this as I play the game in real time as from now. Hope you're still enjoying it.

I definitely am!

Looking forward to that tasty Celtic tie. If their form in real life reflects into your game, you stand a great chance

Well, Celtic just about managed to scrape through again. A last minute penalty secured their place in the next round and Moussa Dembele's first goal for the club. Surely in the next round they are going to fave sterner competition and will no doubt crumble? The safety net of Europa League football is there now, however.

Five years ago, Shamrock Rovers competed in the Europa League group stages, next it'll (more than likely) be Dundalk.

I remember that, weren't they in the same group as Spurs?

-------

Tonight Celtic need to channel the spirit of Dundalk if they are to overcome Astana in the second leg! I don't think they'll make it easy for themselves but surely they'll manage...

Double deal confirmed - Ciaran Clark and Mo Diame have both signed for Newcastle.

Mo Diame is a good signing, shows the turmoil Hull must be in if he chose to drop down a division rather than play in the Premier League. We all expect Newcastle to go straight back up, but at the age of 29 you'd've thought he would want to play as much as he could in the top division.

Man City have been busy too, Sane yesterday and Gabriel Jesus today (albeit he actually joins City in January). Pep is making some good signings but I still think he needs to sort out the defence, urgently!

Conte has got rid of some dead weight in the Chelsea squad, managing to get Salah to sign permanently for an Italian team this time.

Also, Leicester have brought in Kapustka whom you may recognise from the Poland team at the Euros. Surely this does not hint at an exit for Mahrez, but I am sure it will be played up that way.

Villa are splashing some cash again too, and again I don't think much of what they've spent on a player. £12 mill for Ross McCormack, who is a good Championship striker at best in my view. Slightly strange that Fulham have accepted the bid, as I swear I read that they rejected the same amount from Norwich when they bid and were holding out for £15mill. Good dodge for Norwich either way.

Shame some of these games are in the middle of the night, wouldn't have minded watching Liverpool-Milan and especially Leicester-PSG. I'm sure there'll be plenty of other chances to see Leicester against Europe's elite this season though!

I think if you could save them, it'd be worth it in the long haul. Are you confident enough in your own abilities?

What's their squad like? If it's small and decimated by injuries, then probably not savable!

We've also signed another world beater, Eddie Nolan joins. Released by York after their relegation, fans are saying he is garbage and one of their worst players last season. Operation conference in full swing!

Won 3-0 against BATE to progress, happy for them so I am.

Really chuffed, didn't think they could pull it off but fair play! Convincing win too. That means they've at least got a place in the Europa League group stages, which I think would be awesome enough in itself. However, only one round away from the champs league group stage!

This is good to see. I hope more clubs plan similar to demonstrate to the efl what a joke they have made of this competition. I would say it'd be the same at Bloomfield, but the only people in the stadium will be scabs anyway.

Yeah i believe he can. He'll only be back-up anyway should he sign.

5 mill for a back up Championship CB/LB

Actually, that is probably the norm. Doubt we've ever spent that much on a squad, nevermind a player! Our big signing from non-league Jarrett Rivers has gone back to whence he came, returning to Blyth Spartans after having zero impact. We might be signing Chris Atkinson who left Crewe in the summer. Never heard of this player, any input welcome!

Congrats on surviving the takeover! With all that money now burning a hole in your pocket I'm surprised at the lack of money spent bringing players in.

I suppose because we got rid of two centre backs in the close season (Taylor/Coloccini) then it makes sense to buy two CB's.

Can't Clark cover at left back too?
