3 successes to 2 failures?

Man City and QPR were spectacular failures though.

I wish I got laid after telling girls I didn't go to Harvard.

Seriously, what the fuck was that ?

And all the other stuff seemed pretty forced too, doing office politics for the sake of office politics

Yeah, I thought season 2 got really bad.

Rachel's main thing seems to be hating lies. Mike admits he's been lying to her for 2 years. She falls for him?

And every couple of episodes a random woman from Mike/Harvey's past declares their love for one of them. Especially Scotty, who was willing to sacrifice a lot for Harvey, because she loves him for some reason.

I just want Bunk and Lord Varys to set up a law firm together.

Well he isn't going to take Ribery or Robbens position so I would imagine he would be playing behind Lewandowski.

Robben has been sub this season. He's only gotten in because Kroos is injured.

By Dutton | Permalink | On 27 May 2013 - 16:54 PM
Still don't think Ribery is that good tbh.

Ribery has been incredible this season. Most assists in the Bundesliga this year. And whoscored have given him their player of the season by quite a distance.

The only way I can see any of this working is if Martinez drops into CB, and Kroos into CM. Muller/Robben/Ribery/Gotze rotating. And Mandzukic/Lewandowski rotating. I reckon Bayern may have made a mistake, too man big player won't be playing enough games. Too much disruption for very marginal upgrades.

It's a shame because until know, Bayern were arguably the Galacticos incarnate, in a way Real Madrid never managed to do.

Livingston and Annan away for us. I reckon we might get a decent Championship team at home given we're in the SPL now. Would love away, but we might get Blyth again or Whitley Bay.

Did you go?

It was a poor season. It happens.

Loads of fans Newcastle would criticise Chelsea for sacking Di Matteo soon after winning the CL. Yet call for Pardew's sacking less than a year after winning two manager of the year awards. I think he's definitely got enough credit for another few months to fix things.

Also any criticism than mentions fifth place is totally unfair, that's punishing Pardew for overachieving.

Around £90m around half didn't even get a look in. Awful amount of money for mediocrity, that kind of net spend should see them competing near the other end of the table.

Remember that £90m has completely built a side that has lasted 5 season in the PL. And £90m is only 18 months wages for very mediocre sides. Pulis has done Stoke's main ambition, to get promoted and established in the Premier League, obviously he has done it in quite an expensive way, but I'm sure Stoke are better off than if didn't spend and were relegated.

Also remember that £90m hasn't completely disappeared, a decent chunk of it is still in the squad.

Pulis has paid over the odds for some players, but in a way, I think he has been forced to, because no one decent is willing to go to Stoke if there is an alternative. Obviously a lot of that is his fault, because of the style of football.

I think Stoke's spending is a bit over-stated, last year's wage budget was £53m, which was considerably lower than Fulham and Sunderland, who were over £60m. Stoke's wage bill was quite close to Bolton, Blackburn and WBA. He has spent a lot on expensive transfers though, on older players as well. I think it is the right time for him to go though, they've stagnated this year imo.

I'm not really sure where Stoke go from here. If the new manager tries to change things, he'll need quite a few new players. Their current attacking players really don't look good enough, or past it. Unless the manager can get Charlie Adam to the level he was at at Blackpool.

Hasn't really been mentioned on here, but Di Canio has fined 7 Sunderland players and said they will never play for him again. Kilgallon and Bardsley are the only named players.

If it had worked out that Newcastle had stayed up on the last day of the season, relegating Sunderland in the process, would your fans not revel in that fact?

Newcastle effectively done that last week, and the general emotion was relief, I would have been a bit embarrassed if the players celebrated like that after the final whistle.

By Telegram Sam | Permalink | On 19 May 2013 - 23:36 PM
Some of the criticism has been pathetic and completely hypocritical. All of the players have spoken about their ambitions to win titles, as has Wenger. That doesn't mean we can't celebrate decent achievements in the present, which securing Champions League football is. Some people just love to hate.

If Newcastle fans started chanting about finishing above Sunderland today, I'd think they would be an embarrassment.

The players and fans aren't happy with fourth, then they probably shouldn't celebrate like they've won something. The fans were non-stop singing about Spurs after the final whistle, seemed like their season had been a success as they had finished above Spurs, even though Arsenal still didn't win a trophy or made any real progress towards challenging for the title.

My point is celebrating fourth place like it's a trophy when Arsenal were third last year is pretty pathetic. Obviously it's better than not qualifying, but it should be minimum requirement. If it will lead you to attract better players, you've had CL football, for 16 years, and you're team has went massively backwards in that time.

OK, Villa is signing, great! Next year will definitely be our year

Yes Champions League football will really help Arsenal push on 16 seasons. imo they totally over-celebrated a season of treading water.

At least Newcastle didn't unveil the 'finished above Sunderland trophy'

Ba and Hazard both has suits on.

Luiz who played wasn't wearing his top, the UEFA directive thing is a load of made of bollocks.

LAST YEAR

Obviously this year Ba and Hazard are less likely to wear full kits after the fuss made last year. Terry was screwed either way, if he wears a suit then it basically confirms he thinks he looked a dick last year.

I agree, but they all do it in European games. Gary Neville wasn't criticised last year for doing the exact same thing.

I meant last year, iirc all of Chelsea's suspended players wore kits

I think they have a certain amount of medals that they can distribute to whoever they want.

As for Terry in full kit last year there was a directive from the UEFA to have all players in full kit to make better photos. He joked about it afterwards that he was quick to put the kit on.

People choose to ignore several other Chelsea players, who didn't play in the final, had kits on.

Why is Townshend a twat for saying 'Yes' when Chelsea scored?

I really like the blue one, not so keen on the blue one however.

I don't really care that it is Wonga, I don't think they should exist, but well it's not like the PL have ever asked or cared where the money has come from before.

Yep, risking the long-term future of the club on a few years of mediocrity.

Although it looks like Gold and Sullivan are just building up debt and plan to pay it off when they sell the stadium.

I can see why the board would be very unhappy. As although he's got them up and kept them up, he hasn't exactly done it very efficiently. Still needed the play offs. Most of the signings he made are mostly older and geared towards the short term, and a lot of his signings seem to have completely disappeared - like Sam Baldock and Nicky Maynard. - And still needed the play-offs.

https://pbs.twimg.com/media/BHZaiXDCMAACEFG.jpg

And this year he seems to have brought in a lot of pointless, but expensive signings, Joe Cole, Chamahk, Benayoun, Diarra, Maiga. Arguably he's squandered a lot of money on getting building a very mediocre side.

If Mancini is sacked, Pulis resigns and Martinez gets relegated/goes to Everton, then Pardew will be the second longest serving manager in the league. (assuming Brighton aren't promoted.) Followed by Allardyce & Jol.

Any chance of Wenger going to PSG? Are those rumours still alive?

Well you can cancel, but I think the deadline is in February, and not many people are going to commit to cancelling with three months of the season left.

Season ticket price freezes though. Awesome deal imo. Although the £15 membership fee has went up.

Yep, common sense suggest he wouldn't offer a standard 8-year deal. Should also be noted that Ashley started doing loads of long term things, like 10 year season tickets, giving young players five year deals and Pardew and the coaching staff 8 year deals, Graham Carr was given a really long contract as well.
