I'm fully aware of what he has achieved but the successes in Scandinavia and Switzerland are hardly world class. Failed at Liverpool and the abject performance against Iceland at the 2016 Euro's exposed him as a clueless tactician with no plan B and resulted in his departure as the England manager. God knows why the Palace board thought he would be a good fit for us. I threw my arms up in horror when the appointment was announced. Boring, survival football is exactly what I expected and got. At least under Vieira we can see a plan and progression in place.

That's good. Balls work best with a solid background. Also I find if you delete the white background, most balls look better. I now delete the background on all my balls.

The simple answer is to try it and see for yourself. Back up a ball you use on a regular basis and name your ball as the original, then see how it looks. As for side matching, that only looks right when the ball design is perfectly symmetrical, so most ball mods in FM are a compromise at best. Your design is more likely to look ok on that score. 

The ball will work fine. If you want it to work in a particular league or competition you'll first need to find the I.D. of that competition by selecting “Show screen IDs in Title Bar to assist skinning” in the game preferences, then rename the ball to the number shown. Then you need to add the details to the config file in the balls folder.

I haven't had a problem because I've been using a different config file. As I said, making new static boards is a doddle but I need to get a grip on making video boards.

At the very best he'd lead Watford to mid-table mediocrity and they'll win nothing, just as Hodgson has failed to do in top flight football throughout his entire career.

The static and video adboards will continue to work. New static adboards are easy to make yourself, video adboards require a bit more skill. It's unfortunate that upgrades cannot be uploaded publicly but that's how it is in this litigation obsessed age we now live in.

The current adboards still work and I have all previous downloads. I can make my own static boards and edit config files but the the issue for me is not being able to create the video adboards. It's a nonsense from Si but I suspect the paymaster Sega is behind this decision. If in future Si decide to limit or ban third party content then they'd be committing commercial suicide, as it's the FM community contributions that make the game so immersive for the vast majority of us.  

The kits you're showing are FC12, not SS. For me, SS kits not only look better but they cover more leagues/teams. You need to buy the IGE, then go to settings and tick to show on your skin. Open your team and select the IGE from the top of your skin. Then click on the kit editor.

Rick has risen again ! He has released a new Andromeda skin, based on Sky Sports. It's a fine, colourful creation and as always, is the only valid rival to the flutskin, a man he rightly acknowledges as a legend. It's a very good skin but doesn't quite match the flutskin for me, the IBH panel in particular is rather poor. Regardless, it's good to see Rick back on the skinning scene.

I'm glad you feel the same my friend, as you absolutely seem to be on my wavelength when it comes to what makes for a great skin and you're always helpful when myself or others request a change or have a query. In FM20, the pop up appeared on the titlebar and stayed until the replay ended, if I recall correctly ? It changed from FM21 onwards. It would be welcome if there is a way to increase the screen time in one of your neatest skin enhancements which I've also noticed some other skinners are now including in their creations. . Yes, I do try EVERY skin out there before naturally returning to Flut, thinking, “Nice try but no cigar”. If others agree with this change then let's see what we can do. It's sometimes the little things that can make a bigger difference. 

Hi Flut, all good I hope ? Question: I'm loving the player picture pop up when a goal is scored but is there a way it can be made to stay on screen longer, or is it something that's hard code within the game and cannot be altered in your skin ? 

Hopefully but I'm currently involved in a major project, so the PC is out of bounds right now.

The 2021-22 FA Cup match ball has been released. Now before we see attempts from some to include it in FM2022, a word of warning. It's a pig to get it to look right. I have made 20+ test samples and none look particularly good. I'm saying all this because too many assume they only need a picture of a ball, size it and then paste it to the template. That only works if the ball in question has perfect symmetry, strong colours and no shading, some but not all of which can be corrected with editing. It's also part of the reason why I've lost a lot of interest in something I've been involved in for quite a few years. Although no-one has the exclusive right to create add-ons for FM, it has pained me to see so many poor examples. I am currently investigating what's possible, moving away from the game's default concept , in the attempt to make match balls more realistic. Will update soon.

We'll be seeing the new Nike Winter ball in the Premier League for the first time today, so maybe some tweaking will be needed when I've seen it.

That could happen. I usually prefer to work alone but haven't had the time or the inclination as too many individuals have posted less than ideal efforts. Also I'm not interested in going beyond European Leagues. We'd need to compare creations before posting as a pack.

Hopefully I will, there is a lack of continuity and quality at the moment that needs addressing.

Most balls are taken from photographs, it's how you edit them that determines if they look good in the game or not. They have to be tailored to the limitations of the match engine.

Hi Jeff. I still wasn't happy. The Winter ball still wasn't yellow enough, so I've made it closer to orange. See what you think ?

Read my previous comment. Your balls are inconsistent. Some too light, some too dark and too much shading on some. You're free to try of course but you're not benefitting to quality 3d match balls I'm afraid. It's not as straightforward as it looks.

In you saying that I thought my ball was a little TOO light, so here's an alternative to try ?

For sure I tried it Jeff but as I said, dark shading makes a ball look uneven when rotating.

Firstly, the FM add-on community is just that, so it's only polite to recognise others before copying their work without acknowledging them and explaining your objective. Secondly, the game turns the ball into a 3D image, regardless of the ball image “quality” in your folder. Also, the graphical limitations of FM will not show fine detail, so it's better to focus on strong colours and a lack of shading for the ball to show well. The detail on your ball is wasted and the dark shading shows in the game, giving an uneven look as the ball rotates. I've been making FM match balls for years and I've discovered that simplicity gives the best results. Maybe one day when the FM match engine is so detailed in 8k+ resolution or whatever, things like close graphical detail will be noticeable but until then……….
