this would create a regen name file - but not just names as we should be able to add more details than just names as shown above so you can outline eg Solskaer is a striker born in Kristiansund etc

re Ole this is open to debate he is in the DB but not as a player so I can see the merit in adding him as he is an icon/legend for sure

its a tricky one as I was initially looking at people not in the DB[or were very old and just token directors at a club or set as a retired person]  at all but open to suggestions and debate on this

I am looking to set up a project where legends are added to the game as new Regens. The plan is to get users on board to divide up various nations and add a country's icons/legends/great players from their history. It is with great thanks to John Warrington who has produced some superb detailed work on similar projects that gave me the idea to start a legends file.

I plan to explain how to create the file and how to use it in game so that in future some of the regens coming through will by ex legends etc

just examples imagine some future regens coming through into the DB

The regens can be allocated the following positions:

GOALKEEPER, DEFENDER_LEFT_SIDE, DEFENDER_RIGHT_SIDE, DEFENDER_CENTRAL, MIDFIELDER_LEFT_SIDE, MIDFIELDER_RIGHT_SIDE, MIDFIELDER_CENTRAL, ATTACKING_MIDFIELDER_LEFT_SIDE, ATTACKING_MIDFIELDER_RIGHT_SIDE, ATTACKING_MIDFIELDER_CENTRAL, ATTACKER_CENTRAL

They can be given cities of birth/favourite clubs etc etc

But this needs to be a community driven project without users getting on board it wont happen

so if you want to see this happen put your name forward and grab a country/countries you would like to add to this 

I am going to do Wales/Scotland/Germany to start with sure there will be plenty of interest in the big nations so users with interest/knowledge of the smaller countries would be great 

NB This is just to add legends etc from by gone eras not to add current players coming through as young players again into the DB

If you want some ideas who should be added in the editor look under the nations famous players

what I would suggest is then google the player to find their full details

  eg Zbigniew Boniek D.O.B. 3 March 1956 Bydgoszcz Widzew Łódź

For this project his D.O.B. would be  3/3/2006 born in Bydgoszcz Fav club Widzew Łódź- so when this regen is generated he will be Polish and either start at Widzew Łódź or be likely to play there eventually

IMO the' legend' regens would have to be staggered coming through as you dont want them all at the same time- so years of birth starting at say 2004/5/6/7/8/9/ 2010/11/12 etc etc 

 and a cap on CA/PA would have to be set too as its pointless having lots of regens with massively high CA/PA[this can be an issue on the S.I. side as it is] perhaps some can be blank and let game generate the numbers?

At this stage I am beta testing the concept and just want to see what interest there is and who is prepared to assist I do not expect anyone to do anything immediately.

this can happen you may have a corrupt file etc

lovely response from SI [I have reported 4 bugs 3 remain unanswered and are months old , but I have found north of 40 bugs most of which I have reported previously so see no point in doing so again ]

I feel for you as I have been there and after 100s of hours of editing too

only thing I would try is removing cache -

C:\Users\YOUR USERNAME HERE\AppData\Local\Sports Interactive

the FM21 folder looks like this[copy +back it up and save to desktop and you can return it to the folder later if needed ]

you can remove cache+temporary folders or delete the whole FM21 Folder- you will lose your game set up etc 

then launch the save again if it doesnt open then its buggered mate

as you can see I am able to use my 21.1 created file[ and saved as XML and bypassing verification] when selecting the 21.4 DB in game

those other files cant be used as I havent used the same method to bypass and they are fmf format

yes lots of bugs I have found another dozen or so when editing advanced rules even when the file verifies, very frustrating but its been like this for many years now

what a cracking goal from Ayew but do defenders/coach/scouting staff not watch the opposition play …he cuts in from the right onto his left

yes indeed if the user is going to share the file and has used other skinners work along with his own he needs to credit them and seek permission first before posting

IF he is just showing what he uses then there is no issue, but if it was me I would give credit for the original skin/creator here too

you have a bug that is the issue

are you using the 20.4 DB

I use the 20.1 and had no issue verifying

try editing in 20.1 and export as XML file you should following my instructions be able to use it in game with any of the DB set ups even 20.4

[19]CHECK FOR EXTRA SETS OF RULES

 NB  Saw someone post on another forum that they were into a new season in their save and the changes they had made pre game were no longer showing in game[they were there when they started the first season]

prize money/number of substitutes /tv money etc etc

They had forgotten to edit the extra set of rules already set up -sometimes there are several sets of rules-

so always check that there isnt new rules in place for the coming seasons[as shown below] if so you need to edit those too[copy and paste most sections is fine- you just need to check things like the number of teams hasnt changed or the league format hasnt either, so IMO do not copy the whole comp just sections of it to save time] 

I use a custom start date in game to check the edits are correct a few years in advance just to be sure
