#832040 Custom Tournament - Failing rules testing
xbenjaminx
Are you wanting the host to be a random nation in general? Or do you want it to be one of the participants in the competition?
Edit: Also do you want specific stadiums within the nations? Or does that not matter?
#831392 FC'12 Ecuador - Liga Pro B 2025 [v1.5]
xbenjaminx
Great work as always but just letting you know there's a spelling error in Atletico Vinotinto's image files which means they won't work.
#831293 British Cup - HELP?!
xbenjaminx
The first thing you have to bear in mind is how far down the pyramid you want to go and also the massive gulf in quality between teams in England and Teams in the other nations. One of the considerations with BOSTs as well as you're going to have to edit a lot of league structures to create a tournament like this which then in turn potentially impacts bigger competitions. That's not to say it's not doable. It's just going to be a lot of work.
If you want to include all levels then I'd suggest a three tier competition (essentially model it on UEFA) so that you can put teams in competitions against teams of a similar ability. No point having Chelsea vs Mullingar for example.
To avoid changing any other leagues you could potentially do it as a summer tournament. That way it occurs during pre-season instead (providing it sticks with the European calendar).
You're talking:
England - 92 Clubs (Prem to L2)
Scotland - 42 Clubs (Prem to L2)
Northern Ireland - 24-38 Clubs (Premiership - First Division/Intermediate League)
Wales - 108 Clubs (JD Cymru Premier - JD Ardal Leagues)
Gibraltar - 10 Clubs (Premier Division)
Anguilla - 11 Clubs (Premier Division)
Bermuda - 20 Clubs (Prem & First Division)
Montserrat - 5 Clubs (Premier Division)
British Virgin Islands - 10 Clubs (Premier Division)
Cayman Islands - 22 Clubs (Prem & First Division)
Turks & Caicos Islands - 7 Clubs (Premier Division)
Guernsey - 1 Club (Lower League England)
Jersey - 1 Club (Lower League England)
Isle of Man - 1 Club (Lower League England)
And if you wanted them as well
Republic of Ireland: 20 Clubs (Prem & First Division)
That's 368 Clubs before you start (388 including ROI) so that might get a little hectic.
Whilst the idea is good in principle, what I'd potentially consider is a Champions League (Winners of all the leagues), Cup Winners Cup (Winners of the League and/or FA Cup of each nation) or like I said split it into three competitions, you're looking at 120ish teams in each competition and follow the format of UEFA. The other thing you're going to have to think about is seeding and drawing rules.
TL;DR
It's doable with a lot of work, but scaling it down may yield better results.
#831289 Question on "Years to gain nationality"
xbenjaminx
Things like this would be quite interesting to know. There are instances with other cultures for example were birthed citizens (i.e. people born in the nation) can obtain dual citizenship, but those obtaining it as a second nationality can't.
#830825 Men's ELO Rating Update (17th June 2025)
xbenjaminx
Yeah that was my draw to it as well when I saw that pretty much every active nation was included. I'll likely update this following every International break or in conjunction with the FIFA ratings.

Why's your editor data inside your graphics folder?
Do you have the actual physical graphics files (i.e. the .jpg or .png files) present in the folder?

#819909 Database Requests (Getting old data)
xbenjaminx
Honestly I wish they had a site like sofifa.com but for Football Manager, but I suppose given the much larger size, that would be a hell of a lot harder to maintain.

#816721 How to replace small flags?
xbenjaminx
Check the config file in the section for your small flags? It could potentially be an issue with the config file. I use custom flags as I have replaced a lot of the inactive nations like Soviet Union etc., so your config entries should look something like this:
<record from="5" to="graphics/pictures/nation/5/icon"/>
If the config is right, try reloading the skin in-game and see if it works
#815683 FC'12 Algeria - Ligue Professionnelle 1 2024-25
xbenjaminx
Makes sense. Seems a little bit weird when according to their wikipedia they've been around for a really long time. I know you can't necessarily trust Wikipedia but yeah
#815682 FC'12 Algeria - Ligue Professionnelle 1 2024-25
xbenjaminx
Oh apologies. I delete the readme when I'm renaming all the files but I just wanted to double check.
#815599 FC'12 Algeria - Ligue Professionnelle 1 2024-25
xbenjaminx
You've got kits for Olympique Akbou that aren't assigned to anyone in the config. I also can't find them in the database? Did I miss something or are they not in the game for some reason?
#813977 Is it possible to amend/remove a player's headshot image?
xbenjaminx
Oh in that case then you'd to overwrite the image file.
#813589 Is it possible to amend/remove a player's headshot image?
xbenjaminx
OK so you'll need to first find the UID number of the player with the wrong image. This can be done in some of the skins and through some 3rd party tools like FMRTE. You then need to go into your graphics folder and either delete the image or simply delete the entry from the config.xml file relating to that image.
#812946 Database Requests (Getting old data)
xbenjaminx
So a bit of a stab in the dark really…
Is there any place or method of obtaining the database for earlier versions of FM (particularly FM19 and FM20) - the reason I ask is because as I am currently going through the people in the current database, I note a good amount of people I'd like to re-add to the database who appeared in earlier versions of the game who aren't now. A lot of these seem to drop off roughly around FM2019. I have as far back as 21, and would have simply purchased FM19 and FM20 from Steam or anywhere else but it's not for sale anymore (not really a surprise)
The reason I am particularly after this data is so that I can copy the attributes and various other details in depth into a new database.
I know this is somewhat of an odd request but any help, or even a place where I can view the full attributes of old records would be greatly appreciated.
#808108 Help
xbenjaminx
Have you put the individual .fmf files into the editor data folder? Or have you put just the extracted folder into the editor data folder.
The path to the file should look something like this:
C:\Documents\Sports Interactive\Football Manager 2024\editor data\Classic FM - Changes.fmf
Obviously this will change depending on your individual setup, but this is one of the more common problems. Otherwise, screenshot your editor data folder. Also make sure you haven't accidentally deleted or overwritten the config file that was in the ‘editor data' folder.
#807662 Small logo issue
xbenjaminx
Check the extension of the file for Manchester United's logo. Also ensure the config entry is correct. Judging that the others are showing that makes me think that either the Man United file is not written in the config, the file itself is missing or the file is there but is in the wrong format (e.g. .jpg instead of .png)
#807603 Small logo issue
xbenjaminx
Have you downloaded the licence fix from this sight? Manchester United and a few other bits and pieces (including Germany and Japan) have issues with licensing so that might be the cause of this if it's not installed. Do other logos and imagery display for the same team?
#807322 Anyone done a Bordeaux update please?

#807121 Editing teams with a custom database
xbenjaminx
No problem dude. The editor isn't always the most intuitive. Happy to have helped though
#807104 Editing teams with a custom database
xbenjaminx
So in the pre-game editor you need to open a single file the way you normally would for editing. Once you've opened that single file if you go back into the same menu the merge option is now available. The only thing I will say is that if more than one of the files has it's own set of rules (competition rules etc.) then this might screw with that so be careful. Otherwise you could consider making a similar database from scratch.
#807102 Editing teams with a custom database
xbenjaminx
I would think the easiest way to do this is merge all 20 files into a single file and make your edits that way?
Not entirely sure of the scale and/or depth of the database you're using though.

#800201 Men's FIFA World Rankings (18/7/24 - Latest Official Release)
xbenjaminx
Sure so with the FIFA rankings, every three months or so FIFA publish their rankings - if you go into the Pre-Game editor, go into Nations and then into the Information tab, there's a section called Ranking points. Update that to match the score on FIFA's ranking page but bear in mind, FIFA uses decimal figures the game does not so it sometimes is out by a position of two. Alternatively, download the attached file and place it in the editor data folder of your Football Manager directory normally located in C://User/Documents/Sports Interactive/Football Manager 2024/editor data
