#797079 Cannot properly resize club logo

This likely comes down to the way your image is cropped. If you resize a file to 180x180 but it has loads of blank space around the outside, then the logo itself won't be that size, the entire file is. What you'd need to do is use an image editor to trim the file properly.

If you have already done this, then ignore everything I just said

How do I know the creator?

It will typically be the person who created the post. I don't use ESS Logos specifically, but for the logos I do use there'll either be a forum post or you can contact the uploader.

first one, already submitted the logo as the source one, but the active logo is the older one.

In that case, PM the creator of the logo pack. You may have to wait until the next update for them to release the new logo version.

Little bit confused?

Do you mean you work for the club in real life and you've redesigned their badge? Or is this something you've done (i.e. a fantasy badge) for the lower league club to appear in-game?

If it's the first, then it'd just be a matter of submitting the updated logo as a source to whatever logo pack (probably via the logo pack's website if they're not connected through this site (which will also be the same for the fantasy badge too)

If you mean how do you get your drawing into your own game, you'd need to re-do it using something like Canva or Photoshop and generate the files that way or at the very least scan it and make sure it's in the appropriate format and size.

I theorised it could be done with placeholder chairmen/owners/presidents too. For example you'd create a placeholder president called Club Name and set his club visions to only signing players from X. Disable takeovers and change the club's transfer preferences too

Check your browser settings. Also try temporarily disabling antivirus/firewall because sometimes they (and browsers) can be pissy about zip files. I've just managed to download today's data update (and others previously) without issue so it's not the site

I noticed that there's a discrepancy in the config.xml file

The dieci challenge league file is listed as challenger league in the config, but the file is named challenge league. Although the fix is an easy one, it will cause display errors.

@Armamaddon

There should be the version of the actual database” the problem with this is that some people want to keep their kit folders from year to year so they at least have last years kit if the new kit hasn't been released. If we then release Luton in a Championship folder they'll still have last years Luton in a Premier League folder, it becomes a mess.

Also not everyone agrees it should be the version of the “actual database”, see here @bolid74 asked for it to be updated to the 24/25 database. If not everyone agrees what structure to use it seems impossible to use a structure?

“I have a very detailed order like” And again the emphasis here is “I have", your detailed order may not be the same as other peoples, who's preference do I listen to?

The original plan was to release a desktop app which would have solved these discussions by letting you rename and reorganise the files named by ID however you like, the reason it wasn't released is threefold (1) lots of other people promised they were releasing one but never did (2) I get distracted with people asking for work on other things like the data update and stopped working on kits (3) i'm scared FM25 is going to change things drastically so I don't want to spend weeks working on something that will be dead in a couple of months.

I know @xbenjaminx is working on one but I don't know if it will have the features we need to rename/reorganise kit folders.

Maybe i'll get another chance in the next few weeks we'll see.

Also in terms of reorganising. The version I currently have working on organises the kits into a basic graphics folder setup. It has limited customisation options but I am working on versions that will have much more. I just want to get the basic principles down and give the community something to work with.

At the moment what I have does the following:

Search for graphics - Links you straight to this site via the database section so you can get graphics and data
Rename graphics - Dump a graphics pack and it's config into the sort folder and it will rename everything by UID (and suffix where applicable)
Error check graphics - Performs basic error checking ensuring graphics are in the right format etc.
Write config - Write the config.xml file to get everything showing in-game

Sort graphics - Sorts the graphics packs into the correct folders to keep your graphics organised

Obviously there are limitations as this is still a very rough draft. As I mentioned, customisation options are somewhat limited at the moment but it will do the basic things to get graphics sorted and into the game quickly. I also promise to keep it up-to-date in terms of FM25 and subsequent releases being released because potentially such a tool will be really helpful

The program is currently in testing. I am hoping to make it cross-platform but as I don't have access to Mac or Linux I will be relying on feedback. From my own testing on Windows, the renaming and sorting functions seem to work well. I managed to rename 12000+ kits in a couple of hours, the average kit pack only takes a couple of seconds so I think it will be pretty useful. It covers every type of in-game graphic too, not just kits.

Hi sorry for the late reply.

I do enjoy the feedback you're giving and I'm 100% committed to make changes in V2.0 this week after reading the replies you said.

I will definitely take a look at them websites you suggested and balance out the budgets and salaries a bit more. I'm looking to make things even more realistic to assist your enjoyment in some way, so if you have anymore suggestions do let me know as I'll listen to all of them 🙂

Also I'm looking into tweaking players contracts and market values too later in this database just to give it that extra realism boost.

That sounds good as well. There is some good realism mods out there so more never hurts. I find the more choices the more you can mix and match, plus it's good to see how other people do things too. I can refine my own ideas that way. I don't mind giving feedback or ideas. It's just stuff I pick up on and think about with my own clubs. I'm used to working on a budget, so give me a club with lots of money and I won't know what I'm doing lol.

I agree, after I uploaded this database I was tweaking some things like wage caps, transfer budgets and looking at teams in debt. I also forgot to look into teams whose bank balance wasn't that high as other teams, for example Brighton's transfer budget went down but their bank balance went up when I simulated.

My approach was to try and make this fair and realistic for every team because before this the transfer budgets and wages were outstandingly unrealistic.

I've had this concept in my head for some time now and I was trying to implement it perfectly to how it is IRL.

I appreciate your comment, if you find anything that needs fixing let me know and I'll try to solve it 🙂

I'm working on my own project at the moment but intend to take a look at this when I go back to playing. I mean just focusing on the Premier League for a minute you want to take variables at both ends of the table really. Brighton are a good midpoint, then you have a club like Man City and a club like Luton. You then have your upper, middle and lower.

I stumbled across this https://www.capology.com/uk/premier-league/salaries/ which seemingly has information about salaries and contracts and some things.  This (while not to be taken as gospel) coupled with https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/ for things like market values and transfer behaviours could allow you to analyse transfer behaviour in quite a bit of detail.

I think it's a good concept to try and implement though and I'm always excited about stuff that improves realism.

Whilst I find the concept of this interesting and it's definitely something that needs to be looked at I'm curious how you've handled things such as salary and wage caps in some leagues and also how you've factored in the differences in how clubs are run. For instance, some clubs may use 50% of their balance for transfers, smaller clubs may be significantly less.

This isn't a criticism, but I am genuinely interested in your approach

Maybe it goes for the most common names as opposed to specifics? I mean you wouldn't expect to see many Alexander-Arnolds for example but you might expect to see a few Davies and Davis.

Yeah I agree with you. I mean to be honest unless they're dead or formally retired from all things football, I wish they'd stop removing people from the database in general anyway. It's a pain having to re-add them all the time. One thing I do wish, is there was a file (like they have for FIFA Manager) that contains a list of possible regen names by nation. That way you can change and edit to make them seem authentic. There must be a list somewhere but I wouldn't be surprised if it's locked deep into files that will never see the light of day from our end.

I have noticed some has been converted to a spreadsheet and uploaded to statista. You can download an archive of them. It's still tedious, but you have them in a format you can play around with. You could use software like Genie Scout or FMRTE to get a filtered view of specifics and save them that way, you could potentially get what you need in-game and save by nation (although that means at least 251 files so not always practical) but from the game you can export directly to html and then into excel if you so desire.

Otherwise it's looking through this site to get everything you need, which is a long process but this is probably the most accurate I've seen.

Ya, i meant the clubs/players etc… data.
I do have both games.
i know I could basically just go in and edit every club, player, stadium, managers, competition, etc… my self, but that would be so many players and clubs and all that, I was wondering if maybe there's a simplayer way to just export the data from 2020 and than just import it into 2024, I do have both games.

Well a lot of the players and stuff will already be in the new database. The easiest thing I could maybe recommend trying is making a small change to all the players (e.g. make all the players free agents) and then import them, once imported, delete that specific change? Not sure how effective it would be though. Another way round would be using a tool like FM auto editor, requires a bit of manual editing in terms of correcting UIDs but you'd just have to copy what you need into excel and import it that way. Might be a little bit faster but I'm not certain

Apologies if this is either the incorrect forum or inappropriate to ask -

Just wondering if you guys have API access or something like that that connects to your database as it would be very useful for numerous Football Manager related projects I am working on? It's nothing that would run directly against this site (i.e. not looking to create competition) but it's a couple of data projects and file renaming projects which would greatly benefit from it.

Thanks.

Hello everyone, my first time posting here.
so I was going over my games, and I remembered how much I liked to play in FM 2020 clubs wise.
but I like all the changes they made al the way up to 2024.
I was wondering if anyone know of a way to export all the 2020 data and than import it into 2024 please?

When you say all of the data? Do you mean like your saves and custom graphics or did you mean players, clubs, leagues etc. that aren't in the current version of the game?

Exporting customised data could probably be done, but it would likely require re-verifying and so on in the FM24 PGE (pre-game editor) - if you're looking to re-add players or clubs, you'll have to make them yourself in the editor. If you still have access to earlier editions of the game, you can load both editors and manually copy the data you need over, it's not the most efficient method but it would keep things in scale.

Just a stab in the dark really. Does anyone have an up-to-date list of the in-game (FM24) stadiums and the nations they're in in a spreadsheet or text file? With there being just shy of 48500 I really don't want to have to copy these manually.
