Yeah it defo can be stressful. Sometimes something that seems relatively simple can get really complicated.  Just take it slow and work out little bits at the time. At the end of the day it's got your name on it, so you need to be happy with it.

Hi sorry for the late reply.

I do enjoy the feedback you're giving and I'm 100% committed to make changes in V2.0 this week after reading the replies you said.

I will definitely take a look at them websites you suggested and balance out the budgets and salaries a bit more. I'm looking to make things even more realistic to assist your enjoyment in some way, so if you have anymore suggestions do let me know as I'll listen to all of them 🙂

Also I'm looking into tweaking players contracts and market values too later in this database just to give it that extra realism boost.

That sounds good as well. There is some good realism mods out there so more never hurts. I find the more choices the more you can mix and match, plus it's good to see how other people do things too. I can refine my own ideas that way. I don't mind giving feedback or ideas. It's just stuff I pick up on and think about with my own clubs. I'm used to working on a budget, so give me a club with lots of money and I won't know what I'm doing lol.

I agree, after I uploaded this database I was tweaking some things like wage caps, transfer budgets and looking at teams in debt. I also forgot to look into teams whose bank balance wasn't that high as other teams, for example Brighton's transfer budget went down but their bank balance went up when I simulated.

My approach was to try and make this fair and realistic for every team because before this the transfer budgets and wages were outstandingly unrealistic.

I've had this concept in my head for some time now and I was trying to implement it perfectly to how it is IRL.

I appreciate your comment, if you find anything that needs fixing let me know and I'll try to solve it 🙂

I'm working on my own project at the moment but intend to take a look at this when I go back to playing. I mean just focusing on the Premier League for a minute you want to take variables at both ends of the table really. Brighton are a good midpoint, then you have a club like Man City and a club like Luton. You then have your upper, middle and lower.

I stumbled across this https://www.capology.com/uk/premier-league/salaries/ which seemingly has information about salaries and contracts and some things.  This (while not to be taken as gospel) coupled with https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/ for things like market values and transfer behaviours could allow you to analyse transfer behaviour in quite a bit of detail.

I think it's a good concept to try and implement though and I'm always excited about stuff that improves realism.

Whilst I find the concept of this interesting and it's definitely something that needs to be looked at I'm curious how you've handled things such as salary and wage caps in some leagues and also how you've factored in the differences in how clubs are run. For instance, some clubs may use 50% of their balance for transfers, smaller clubs may be significantly less.

This isn't a criticism, but I am genuinely interested in your approach

Well I am sure eventually someone will be able to shed some light on the situation. Hell given the wholesale changes in FM25 the entire structure will probably change anyway

Maybe it goes for the most common names as opposed to specifics? I mean you wouldn't expect to see many Alexander-Arnolds for example but you might expect to see a few Davies and Davis.

Yeah I agree with you. I mean to be honest unless they're dead or formally retired from all things football, I wish they'd stop removing people from the database in general anyway. It's a pain having to re-add them all the time. One thing I do wish, is there was a file (like they have for FIFA Manager) that contains a list of possible regen names by nation. That way you can change and edit to make them seem authentic. There must be a list somewhere but I wouldn't be surprised if it's locked deep into files that will never see the light of day from our end.

I have noticed some has been converted to a spreadsheet and uploaded to statista. You can download an archive of them. It's still tedious, but you have them in a format you can play around with. You could use software like Genie Scout or FMRTE to get a filtered view of specifics and save them that way, you could potentially get what you need in-game and save by nation (although that means at least 251 files so not always practical) but from the game you can export directly to html and then into excel if you so desire.

Otherwise it's looking through this site to get everything you need, which is a long process but this is probably the most accurate I've seen.

Ya, i meant the clubs/players etc… data.
I do have both games.
i know I could basically just go in and edit every club, player, stadium, managers, competition, etc… my self, but that would be so many players and clubs and all that, I was wondering if maybe there's a simplayer way to just export the data from 2020 and than just import it into 2024, I do have both games.

Well a lot of the players and stuff will already be in the new database. The easiest thing I could maybe recommend trying is making a small change to all the players (e.g. make all the players free agents) and then import them, once imported, delete that specific change? Not sure how effective it would be though. Another way round would be using a tool like FM auto editor, requires a bit of manual editing in terms of correcting UIDs but you'd just have to copy what you need into excel and import it that way. Might be a little bit faster but I'm not certain

Apologies if this is either the incorrect forum or inappropriate to ask -

Just wondering if you guys have API access or something like that that connects to your database as it would be very useful for numerous Football Manager related projects I am working on? It's nothing that would run directly against this site (i.e. not looking to create competition) but it's a couple of data projects and file renaming projects which would greatly benefit from it.

Thanks.

Hello everyone, my first time posting here.
so I was going over my games, and I remembered how much I liked to play in FM 2020 clubs wise.
but I like all the changes they made al the way up to 2024.
I was wondering if anyone know of a way to export all the 2020 data and than import it into 2024 please?

When you say all of the data? Do you mean like your saves and custom graphics or did you mean players, clubs, leagues etc. that aren't in the current version of the game?

Exporting customised data could probably be done, but it would likely require re-verifying and so on in the FM24 PGE (pre-game editor) - if you're looking to re-add players or clubs, you'll have to make them yourself in the editor. If you still have access to earlier editions of the game, you can load both editors and manually copy the data you need over, it's not the most efficient method but it would keep things in scale.

Just a stab in the dark really. Does anyone have an up-to-date list of the in-game (FM24) stadiums and the nations they're in in a spreadsheet or text file? With there being just shy of 48500 I really don't want to have to copy these manually.

Yeah kind of. Basically one of the other games I played (Trainz) has an index website that allows you to look up missing files (trainzkuidindex) and basically it allows me to put in whatever KUIDs I want and it will bring me up any results if there are any. I can't remember if there's an upwards limit on the number per time as my sub to that site expired a good couple of years ago.

That being said, your site is pretty useful. At the moment it's helping me rename around 4000 files although progress is going slow (hence hoping for bulk) - my only other suggestion possibly (if you're taking suggestions) is clicking into the record could bring us to the profile page on here?

Either way I really like what you've done

This is pretty good. Just out of interest, is there a way to bulk search for UIDs?

I am working on python scripts to sort my graphics folders out but when I can find the occasional list of UIDs I need, there are often some that aren't on there, so being able to quickly bulk search would be useful?

Yeah its been a challenge, the idea of an island games database is really cool i hope you get on well with it, as you can see ive done as much as i could think to do (inhabitants range greatly exaggerated because i thought that the small populations might have been causing issues) and no luck.

I'll have a play around and see what I can find. @TheModelCitizen has an Island Games Database and they are the main reason I got into the whole thing but I plan on slowly working through each of the countries and adding what I can. Problem with some of the smaller islands is they don't have their own domestic system, but it will be a good thing to test with. If memory serves they also did work on a Catalan database so they might have some insight for you.

Ironically Shetland is one of the databases I am/will be working on myself. Currently doing the Isle of Wight at the moment. I have great interest in the Island Games so I am working through all of the nations there as well as all the others in the database little by little. A thankless task I assure you. Anyway, have you changed the languages of the nation, the region and the cities? That would probably be a big part. You'll also need to make sure you've changed all of the cities, clubs and regions to your Shetland nation (Based Nation if they play outside of Shetland.) I'd be interested to see how far you've got with it? Perhaps we can help each other. Feel free to drop me an inbox if you want to discuss it further.

Potentially it could be one of two things:

1) The config is not set up to point to the files correctly.
2) The clubs you have jerseys for don't have kits set up in the Pre-Game Editor.

I tried to add it too and it was just like you said.

Seems like it's a case similar to the nations in the database where there is a fixed length list of nations it reads from and will come back with an error when you try to exceed that list length.

Well that's the difference. With nations it crashes the PGE when you add a new one, with this it just adds a new entry successfully and you can change the exchange rate you just can't do anything with the name. I thought .lnc files might be the way forward like it was with the nation names before they fixed those but without knowing the full pathway you won't be able to do anything

In relation to the ‘tism, I think this game kind of attracts a fanbase who are all somewhat on that spectrum so you shouldn’t feel bad about that.

Defo don't feel bad about it. It just gives me a tendency to come off as pedantic lol.

I'll try changing the currency names and see if I'm having the same issue.

It seems like an odd one and I'm not sure why it would be like that other than perhaps the developers not wanting the added level of confusion introduced to the game with a new currency.

I don't see how hard it would be? Create currency make sure there's an exchange rate. I suppose the confusion might come in if people use a ridiculously high exchange rate that ends up being economy breaking. Alas keep me posted.

Good update! Afraid with inflation that the rates aren't going to stay the same for long haha

You're right about that unfortunately. Same with your transfer values. I see how often you whack updates out. That being said, this only came about because I was trying everything I could possibly think of to rename currencies. I can add new currencies but they remain blank. Currencies already in-game just revert to their default name the second I leave the box. Would love to find a solution as it really annoys me, but then I'm autistic and like diddly little details no one else cares about.

That being said, this whole thing also came around because of a project someone asked me to do, a project of my own (a spreadsheet to sort the default database because we all know that's a mess) whilst permitting me to add stuff in a balanced way and just generally deep diving into the P.G.E.

Autism aside, if anyone does know how to rename currencies, whether it's through lnc files or modding other files please share. It seems such a moronic thing to hardcode.
