Moyes signed Mata literally 3 months ago...

It was well-documented that Fergie and Gill were heavily involved, and we spent £40+million on the guy. He was an extreme case of an incredible player being made inexplicably available in a transfer window, and we're very lucky to have him. Besides, he didn't join us to play under Moyes.

Fairly sure you had a worse year than that, didn't you have a year you only signed one year when you signed Carrick?

That year when we signed one of our best players of the last 6-7 years and won the league title?

In fairness, Newcastle are 2 points away from Southampton, who have had an amazing season. Had they won today against Stoke City (and they were a sitter and penalty away in a shockingly dull game from doing so), they'd be ahead of them.

He also had years where he bought utter garbage though, deals like the RVP one don't come around every year

The worst transfer window he ever had he bought Cristiano Ronaldo in. It's not a crime to sign the likes of Djemba-Djemba and Bellion, especially if you sell them on for similar fees.

Isn't that basically the exact same statement Ferguson used to say?

No value in the market etc.

Yeah, and then he'd buy Robin Van Persie.

If Fletcher is too tired to start, which it turns out he isn't, and we don't have a right back option other than Jones, it would be between Rooney and Giggs, and Giggs isn't good enough to start anymore in the big games.

I'd like to see Rooney partner Carrick in middle and for us to play Kagawa in behind Hernandez.

Liverpool have won me over this season, they're playing some great stuff, and amusing as it has been as a United supporter, I'd like to see Steven Gerrard get his Premier League winner's medal.

Now he has to play Kagawa as fucking number 10! Seriously though, he's going to be a massive loss on the night.

Rooney is also cracking penalty taker, as is Lampard. Historically, it seems more coincidental, or something context-specific about taking a penalty for England that seems to make the best of footballers lose their shit.

I reckon Chelsea will be 1-0 up and PSG will get a late equalizer as they throw men forward next week. PSG have just got too much quality.

As going from 4th to 5th is definitely undisputedly backwards?

It all depends on the season you're competing in, obviously. They went from 69 points to 72 points. Theoretically, if AVB had been Spurs manager at the start of the 2011/12 season, they'd have finished 3rd, ahead of Arsenal. At the end of the 12/13 season, Spurs were playing good football, they had a summer to spend £100+million, and all the players, according to the papers at least, were big fans of AVB. Furthermore, Spurs were still well in with a shout at the top four when AVB was sacked, essentially for being unable to justify signings that he didn't want. Going into his second season with the best statistics of any Spurs PL manager, you'd think they would [a] back his ideas in the summer rather than a director of football, [b] give him time because you've already seen he can deliver what you want on the pitch, and [c] give him extra time because of the number of signings made.

Levy fucked us over by sacking Redknapp. We were a team on the up and it was the only time I really felt we could actually challenge for top 4, but Levy thought it'd be a good idea to go for AVB instead. That was a backwards move and now we have gone even further backwards with Sherwood. Top 4 wont happen for us again while Levy is still there, he just wants a good bank account rather than a good team. We are now back at the Martin Jol days where we beat the teams below us, but get nowhere near the top teams an sit in the Europa League every season.

How did you go backwards with AVB when he got your record points tally in the PL last year? If Levy hadn't decided to buy players over his head, he could've actually built the Spurs squad he wanted.

If he hadn't been appointed by Fergie, and we didn't have this 'tradition of backing our managers' that people who haven't even been alive without Ferguson as the manager seem intent on upholding to the detriment of the club, Moyes would have been gone before Christmas.

Klopp's Dortmund have plateaued and Bayern are such a force, financially and otherwise, that they're going to near-damn impossible to topple for the next few years. If United offered Dortmund compensation to talk to him, I'm sure he'd be interested. I imagine a lot of quality managers out there are looking at United's squad and thinking 'I could do great things with that team- and I'm getting £150m to rebuild'.

SAM OUT

You're the worst sort of fan. If you win your game in hand, you could go as high as 11th. If you don't like it, then piss off back to the Championship where you'd be without Allardyce.

Bebe's scored 7 in his last 10 games in the Portuguese league, dragging his team out of the relegation zone.

Bring him back.

Both us and Real Madrid went for him, there must be something there. Some of those goals were absolute pearlers as well.

however we also had our worst spell during December/January when RVP was out injured.

We had other injuries too, though, including Rooney. Plus, when he returned, our form didn't even remotely pick up.

True. The Olympiakos game aside, Van Persie has been dire for about a month, and Welbeck/Hernandez/Kagawa all merit game time, especially Welbeck.

Kind of wish Fergie was still in charge just to see his team get raped

1). Pretty poor choice of words.
2). Fergie's team wouldn't look anything like this.
