#270794 Transfer Rumours 2015/16

I'd like to think it isn't true. Purely for the fact that Pirlo already needs replacing as it is and Pogba being increasingly linked for a move too. Surely replacing 3 of the 4 starting midfielders isn't being considered.

Well, any club that goes on a prolonged period without a trophy or success will be in the same boat. The issue with Arsenal is that you're meant to be one of the bigger clubs in the league and have still constantly fallen short when it counts. In saying that, you're finally getting together a better side that may possibly be up there. The question will be actually doing it. If not, then there will come a time when players like Sanchez, Ox, Walcott may wish to leave to win something more than an FA Cup here and there. Naturally, time shall tell.
Didn't say we had a chance, nor that I want to sign him. Sure, if he became available, I'd like him at Chelsea because he'd fit in nicely. In saying that, I think it's a smart move by Chelsea to request a top player in return for Cech in a bid to even out gain you'd get from getting a top keeper. Not that I believe it will happen, we'll no doubt just settle for a cash deal, but may as well try to ruffle a few feathers in the process.

Maybe so. But unless you lot actually put up a decent challenge and win something more than a FA Cup here and there, you'll still struggle to hold onto your better players sooner or later.

Also talk in Russia is that Chelsea will be signing Witsel, ironically, also has Mendes as his agent. Would be a excellent addition if true.

Probably because he was completely mishandled. It's no surprise that literally every attacking player under LVG struggled for much of the season. Not one striker within the club had a good season, coincidence? Maybe. Then he turned good attacking players like Mata and Di Maria into muppets to boot.
I don't think I've ever seen Falcao play so far away from goal before. There were games where he'd have to collect the ball inside his own half, he'd lay it off and run forward only to be completely ignored; just like the rest of the runs he'd make because the preference was to play the ball wide to the wing backs to run down the sideline with.
Chelsea will suit him better as he'll play a lot closer to goal and will have someone like Fabregas who will play the ball into the channels that are run. I don't expect Falcao to return to the player he was, but he'll do far a lot better within a system that suits his style of play.

Also some links suggesting we may sell Remy to help fund a move for Griezmann, which may include paying his release clause.

I believe the plan is to dig down and gain some of the extra capacity via this approach.

I'd rather see both Chelsea lads go out on loan. Though, Van Ginkel I can see being sold. I don't see him quite living up to the potential he had pre knee injury, so a sale there may happen for the right price. Bamford though I want back for the 2016/17 season after seeing how he does on loan to a EPL side. Would be unimpressed if we sold him this summer.

Helps when you're allowed to sign quality players with extremely dodgy methods that probably wouldn't have been signed otherwise. Then cop a slap on the wrist for doing so while effectively fielding would could be argued as an ineligible player for the entire season. Must be nice to be a club that works on an entirely different set of rules....
Juve got a lot further than anyone probably anticipated. For a team that is based more around team graft opposed to individual players, I think the club did extremely well. Disappointing to lose, but at least there was some fight and on another day, who knows. Would have really loved to see Gigi rewarded for his loyalty over the years, no one probably deserves it more than him. Forza Juve.

See, I see it as nothing more than using his pace to beat some average defending first up, squeezing the ball through the legs of the only other defender who was close to make a challenge, before again using his pace to get back onto the ball and cutting inside. The whole run was basically 90% down to his speed, not skill.
He's produced a lot better.

He did build a reasonable squad though, certainly better than what you've got going on now imo. He also did have a good start to the season iirc before fading out. I know his football style is unpopular, but I think it's also a sacrifice that needs to be made to enquire the club can reestablish themselves amongst the mid to upper half of the table for a few seasons.
There really isn't much out there unless the club make a bold move and take a punt.

Manager wise, while highly unlikely and unpopular, I think Big Sam would be a decent shout to help steady the ever sinking ship the club has become over recent years. His record with Bolton and West Ham is enough to show he can at least help with reestablishing the club, while his work on smaller budgets and utilising the loan market would be another benefit.

Atsu has also gone and joined them on loan for the season too. Hopefully more fruitful than his Everton loan.

Hazard, with ease.
Though, I think Terry deserves a shout to be up there. To be considered done and dusted with two years ago, only to now have played every minute of every EPL game this season and be a immense pillar of consistency, reaffirms why he's still the best defender in the EPL to date.
No one else has really stood out to be fair. Aguero has probably been the next closest but had his moments between injury and form dip too.

Selling Mata wasn't bad business. He didn't fit into Mourinho's system due to his lack of athleticism and defensive capabilities, thus found himself on the bench. Getting £37m for him was something we'd probably not have gotten from anyone else at the time, so it made sense. While Man Utd weren't going to be a immediate threat at the time, so it minimised the risk of having him come back to trouble us. All those points played a part in why we sold him to a rival, particularly that transfer fee.
As much as I love Mata, he's not lived up to the £37m price tag yet. Which is understandable given he was probably never worth that much to begin with.

I'm not too sure if I'm overly bothered. I look at more in the sense of how would be we strengthening a direct rival. Cech for De Gea wouldn't alter much in an overall sense, so there's probably little gained for Man Utd. If he went to Arsenal then that's a different story. He'd be a clear improvement on anything they've currently got and would solve an area they've struggled with for a bit now. Which is why I think trying to get someone like Walcott or Ox would help balance the scales.
I would say that remaining in London would give Arsenal the slight edge.

All I said is that it would be the sort of offer I'd be happy to see accepted if we're going to sell to Arsenal. I wouldn't be selling Cech there on the cheap. And if what was reported the other day is true, it's something that has been suggested Chelsea want if we're going to sell a top player to a direct rival- wanting a good player back in return. Cech's age is rather irrelevant given his position. He could still potentially have another 5+ years of top quality football left in him. Of course, if Arsenal don't want a top keeper then they can continue to persist with what they've got, doesn't phased me.
