When the boxes are black like yours there is a working config somewhere, but leads to no picture. If there where no config there would be a default picture from flut skin.

 

So start with removing everything you have download from the background pack. Then you can check if everything is removed by reloading you flut skin, because then you should have the default “coming soon” picture showing. So until you have the default picture showing you will have to search your folders for that missing config that is stopping the pack(s) from working. When you finally have the default picture showing then download the 5 new packs again using chrome so you can resume any interruptions in the download making sure you get the full file (and make sure not to download the update files).

 

I would also personally recommend you to organize stuff in your graphics folder a little bit. Making folders like “logos”, “faces”, “backgrounds” etc. and then putting everything that belongs to those categories in those folders. That makes it easier in cases like this to find and remove files. In my experience when you change around things with files a lot like you have… you tend to loss oversight 😀

For testing, I removed all other gfx folders and only left the city backgrounds in. It yields the same result: blank boxes for everything except the placeholder “Coming soon” for stadium insides in FLUT. I then removed ALL gfx folders, and still the same - including the (still) blank files.

 

So I agree that there's probably a config file sitting somewhere that doesn't want to play ball. Problem is - I couldn't find it anywhere in the documents folder.

 

However, your mentioning previous installs had me look around some more. I found another directory in [my Win10 user name]\AppData\Local\Sports Interactive\Football Manager 2022 which has various settings, data, etc. I made a backup of the folder and deleted it - now it works. 😀

 

I will go over the files now to figure out which one has the data and then restore the other files to “keep” my profile.

That's weird, I'd advise to just delete the complete pack and then install these 5. There should be no reason why it's not working then really

 

 

Thanks, I've tried it before and just tried again. Deleted the old folder, downloaded all fresh and re-installed. Still no change (see attached). 😢

This doesn't work, either (in fact, it will now only show the placeholder image for stadium interiors, and still blank for all else). I would think it's a skin issue, but I have it with every skin, and only with backgrounds.

 

Please note that the screenshot above is using the 2022.0 megapack, plus all subsequent patches, so only the config in the “main” folder exists in that one, not in any subfolder (but it does have the relevant entries).

 

That said, using the separate packs that have separate configs for each one doesn't help, either. :-(

I'm sorry, but, I'm feeling like a complete idiot, because I can't get the backgrounds to work properly. 😀 

 

I've searched for a solution online, but I seem to be the only one struggling with this specific issue, so it's probably me effing something up.

 

The stadium insides will show up in e.g. FLUT dark 6.0 and OPZ Elite skins, but no others will (stadium backgrounds, competitions, cities … ). Cities and stadium backgrounds etc. just come up blank. Cutout faces, metallic logos/flags, etc. all work fine. I'm adding screens below, incl. of my folder structure.

 

I first downloaded the 2022.0 megapack and added the incremental updates. When that didn't work, I tried the separate downloads option. Same result, though.

 

I've tried a variety of different skins, made sure that I clear cache + have caching disabled in game, exited/restarted the game, etc. Nothing.

 

Additionally I've tried:

  • redownloading + reinstalling game and gfx packs
  • making sure that the gfx files of a specific team (e.g. Chelsea) are there
  • making sure that there's entries for those files in the config.xml
  • switching game resolutions between 4k and 1080p and scaling between 100% and 200% (both in game and desktop) in all permutations (screenshots below were taken while running desktop in 1080p)
  • moving the folders around within the graphics folder
  • renaming it to start with 0_ so it would sit on top in the folder structure

 

I'm 99% sure I'm missing something really obvious and basic, but can't for the life of me figure out what's wrong, so any and all help would be greatly appreciated. :-)
