Travelling up to Liverpool tomorrow to make a weekend of our FA Cup giant killing versus Liverpool. Going to Everton vs. Leicester on the Saturday as well, although due to some late change of plans we've got another person coming with us and we were originally meant to all be in the away end but all tickets for the away end are off sale so I did the gracious thing and got a ticket on my own in the home end. Absolutely fucking buzzing for the whole weekend. My only concern is parking my car but let's worry about that later.

Classy Portsmouth fans. Apparently they were shouting abuse and singing "You're going home in an ambulance" after a Luton player broke his leg and then the ref booked him for hitting the floor in frustration/pain. Even Mike Dean isn't that much of a wanker, probably.

In fairness to Portsmouth fans, Luton do have a tendancy, at least since I've seen them under Nathan Jones, to over-play injuries a bit. I remember last season at our place one of their players went down under a fairly innocuous challenge and lay there for ages getting treatment, then had to be stretchered off etc... seeing as how he wasn't the first opposition player to milk it that game we all booed him similarly to the Portsmouth fans and Jones came out afterwards and said how terrible we were blah blah blah. Anyway, long story short that same player started for them next game after his miraculous recovery.

Also: getting booked for breaking your leg and hitting the floor is fucking ridiculous - I knew there were some absolutely shit refs in League Two but that takes the piss.

On top of Rick Parfitt dying on Christmas Eve, George Michael has died on Christmas Day at the age of only 53.

I finished my main job technically on Thursday and I'm back on the 3rd, although I work a part time job behind a bar and worked 13 hours straight yesterday (my feet fucking kill) and I'm working Boxing Day in the evening after the football and then again on New Years Eve so I'm still going to be shattered.

Look how happy he is, bless him! I really hope he has the most amazing time for the time he has left, he's getting thousands of Christmas cards every day.

On another note Jermain Defoe seems to be a genuinely good man, he knows what he is to little kids and he does the role of hero so well, he's so genuine in this video.

Fucking tears man.

I think there have been a handful of times since I've had a season ticket and been going regularly that I've thought the ref had a good game/I didn't notice the ref (sign of a good ref blah blah blah). I can't comment on anything other than League Two but I can say that on the whole, the standard of refereeing is appalling this low down, most of the times we've had a good ref it's been a Premier League/Championship ref who's been demoted or something.

Edit: forgot which thread this was in! The only time I'll get to talk football in the Premier League thread involving Argyle, even if it wasn't exactly what you were asking for.

I hate it every week. Who did you have - I've probably whinged about him in the past

Brett Huxtable I think his name was, apparently he's been "fast-tracked" from non-league and this is his first season in the Football League so I'm not sure you've had the pleasure yet

I don't want to go all terriersmad and blame the referee for our loss tonight but we lost because of the referee tonight.

Seriously though he was, and this is not even hyperbole, the worst referee I have ever seen. There were fouls in the build up to both of their goals, he denied us a stonewall penalty, literally gave a free kick for nothing one time, allowed Barnet to timewaste as much as they like after he had awarded them 2 goals.

I know we were also shit but after working all day, driving an hour to watch the game, suffering through it, driving an hour and a half back due to road works, and then knowing I have to suffer through work tomorrow with everyone asking me "what happened then?" I really don't want to talk about.

I fucking hate football sometimes.

Had to lose at some point, shame it was so pitifully. Neither the fans nor the players were up for the game today, maybe complacency on both parts. Grimsby played very well to their credit; played us well and took their chances - Omar Bogle is a very good player for this level.

Good chance for a quick turnaround to Tuesday at home where it'll be bitterly cold, I'll drive an hour 15 there and 1 hour 45 home because the main road is closed and we'll lose in the 97th minute.

Even when we're top of the league I'm still pessimistic.

I suppose you've all heard of that anecdote doing the rounds where if you'd stuck a fiver on for Leicester to win the league, Brexit to happen and Trump to become President you'd get £15m?

My grandad passed away last night. It's news I had been expecting for a while now but it's still horrible when it actually happens. The strange thing was that because I don't drive I had to get two buses and a train from my house in Leicestershire over to his hospital in Birmingham, each one was waiting at the stop for me and left as soon as I was on board and he passed literally a minute or two after I got there surrounded by the whole family.

We still don't know for sure what was cause of death, he was initially been treated for an ear infection but lost over four stone in two months so we suspect he might have had some form of diagnosed cancer as few other things can cause that big of a weight loss so quickly.

Sorry for your loss Rick. I'm glad you managed to get there and say your goodbyes in time.

Yesterday's was the strangest game of football I've ever been to.The ref collides with our striker in the 75th(ish) minute and is down for a solid 10 minutes being set up on a stretcher and eventually taken to hospital (all as a precaution, apparently he's okay), and then, almost from the restart with the lino as ref, old 4th official as lino and apparently the old 4th official's wife as the new 4th official (what would Andy Gray and Richard Keys think?!) they play a ball back to their 'keeper, our left winger charges him down, goalie clears it into our winger, it loops up and goes in!

This is the sort of luck that winning teams get, hopefully this is the year we go up.

Joe Hart with a very good save to spare England's blushes when they should've gone behind at least once from two corners.

I'm glad I'm only watching this to fill time until 9 o'clock when there's something on I actually want to watch.

I don't tend to watch much terrestrial television but, seeing as how I've been signed off work for a couple of weeks, I've been trawling through catch-up TV trying to find something to watch so I don't go fucking mental.

Watched National Treasure with Robbie Coltrane, and Julie Walters and Tim McInnerny in it. Quite a good show, the "love story" just seems pointless but all three of those actors, and the actress who plays Coltrane's daughter put in cracking performances, final episode airs tomorrow I think.

I'd be very surprised if Harry Redknapp and Neil Warnock aren't involved.

I can almost guarantee that they are. Big rumour going 'round that Warnock would tell a player he was getting them a wage increase if they agreed to give him a monthly cut of the new difference.

Plus 'Arry's... well 'Arry.
