May the needless unsettling of transfer targets begin.

Rough, especially as the second leg falls between games vs Napoli and Lazio.

Ideally I'd like a winger as two of my three 100k amigos are wingers. Force the issue, force them out, no more pasta.

If nothing else it will keep things interesting and fresh if they do leave, may start to do some provisional scouting now just incase I do let them leave.

And we finally get some traction in the CL, nearly threw it all away vs Dinamo in the second last game. Was 1-1 at HT and Dinamo were absolutely running rampant so I chucked on Sheridan, Mauro and Boukhari (the 25m CM) and they turned it all around for us.
Weakest top placed teams are Porto and Atletico, so hopefully I can nab one of them, truth be told I'm not expecting too deep of a CL run, I'm more focused on trying to win the league. Will be keeping my team selections more favourable towards Serie A

And if that don't add up to 24 then I don't care, yet to unearth any real gems from Africa, Central America or Asia but that's mainly because I haven't retained any players specifically from those regions. On FM14 I retained a lot of Central America and Caribbean players and I managed to find gem after gem after gem. This time I just went with a basic Medium DB and I've plodded along merrily ever since.
I always feel like I could be getting more from the scouts but in fairness to them they have alerted me to the Dutch CB who went for 60m and the CM who went for 33.5m. Casella came through as an agent offer as he was floundering in the Barca B team, I wasn't looking for a winger but I knew I needed him as his stats were money and the sell on value was most definitely there.

Finances are in great shape, a mix of selling players and purposefully trying to keep the wages down. For the most part I've succeeded in keeping wages lowish (7th highest wage bill in Serie A) but players are now beginning to force the issue, recently both Wind and Mauro have been given bumper deals to keep them happy and shut them up.
I keep pumping the funds into upgrading the training facilities and youth recruitment, the ultimate aim is a new stadium but the board are just having none of it. A good CL run or a title win could change that though, getting a new stadium is a little aim that keeps me interested in the save. That and trying to win the league, once I achieve either of those things I could be off to pastures new.

They are my top five valued players and for the most part the core of my team, all of them have clubs interested in them and all are available for the right price.
I play a 433 and I have quite a decent headache selection for my front 3, its hard rotating them but I don't want to cut them loose too early as I feel they all have a sell-on value they are yet to reach. Its a balancing act, sell too soon and you miss out on millions, sell too late and they get fat and annoy me and I begin to hate them and I go out and buy more players and lose all squad balance.

The rundown;
- Joined Palermo towards the end of the 49/50 season, we finished 15th
- 50/51; finished 4th
- 51/52; 3rd
- 52/53; 3rd
- 53/54; 4th
- 54/55; 4th + won the UEFA Cup
I haven't been able to crack the title or Champions League yet, every CL campaign I've flopped and either finished 3rd or 4th. Napoli and Juve have also been dominating the league for the most part, I've found a lot of success in signing and selling players, my best three deals;
Ralph Meurs - Dutch CB - signed for 9m, sold for 60m (after 1 season)
Matthias Tetron - French CM - signed for 5m, sold for 33.5m (after 1 season)
Leonardo Casella - Argentine winger - signed for 1.9m, sold for 45m (after 2 seasons)
I've tried to keep my own spending under-budget though, I've only spent over 10m twice (25m and 22m in clause riddled deals) and with both of those players I expect to pull in decent profits regardless.
The transfer policy is get them young, play them, sell them at a profit. I'll tell you right now though, I've struggled to find a GK I like (been through three in six seasons) and an MC I like (hence why I splurged 25m on one trying to break my dislike of what I've been getting)
#281215 best regen you've ever had?
Sheriff Skacel
That guy this year, hardly a Messi but I'm hoping to pull in 60m+ when I cash in on him. I signed him for about 14m and then 8m worth of dodgy clauses. He started terribly in his first season (1 goal in his first 10) and then finally found his feet and got used to eating pasta.
At the end of the first year he wanted a bump from his £50k a week contract and it took about five rounds of negotiations to finally tie him down again and keep him happy. I think I had to give his agent almost £5m to make the deal happen. I could have cashed in there and then pre-new contract but I honestly reckon I could get close to 70m for him when the time is right. I've already managed to ship out a Dutch CB to PSG for 60m so I want to beat that fee.
#281172 Managing in League Two
Sheriff Skacel
I normally try to get myself a solid spine (GK, CB, DM, ST) and build the rest of my team from there. Be patient with it and be resourceful, don't be afraid to make use of 1 year contracts and loan deals.

#281144 How to keep interest in a save?
Sheriff Skacel
I also always try to develop younger players to sell on and operate at an overall profit. This forces me to put a lot more effort and thought into my signings rather than just splurging obscene amounts of already established players. Infact its got to the point where I annoy myself if I spend anywhere near 10m+ on a player at any level.
So far in my current career I've had stints in Iceland, the MLS, Brazil and now Italy. I know that I want to manage in Poland, China, Holland, back to the MLS and maybe some other Eastern Euro countries before FM15 is said and done. That's what keeps me hooked to the one longterm save, as for individual clubs I normally only leave when I'm totally bored or if I've achieved everything I wanted.
I'm currently into my seventh or eighth season with Palermo, I expected to leave after four or five but I've remained hooked as the title has remained elusive and I'm determined to build up the clubs facilities and also get some decent homegrown players into the team. I want to really establish the academy and potentially get a new stadium before finally departing (most likely to China or back to the MLS).
Once I move on I'll remove Serie A and add Poland (I already have China, USA + Holland loaded), I normally like to have a new league loaded for atleast four seasons before I touch it as I've found that if you dive straight into a new league you've added then things are very mismatched. That just lets things settle down a bit.
#281116 The media making drama up?
Sheriff Skacel
I'd love to see the media being far more dynamic, just think about how much of a role the media and social media play in real life football, now look at what they do in FM. Lets get agents forcing agendas, players being wee bitches, social media controversy, non-sensical reports snowballing and catching on with the fans, etc
#281115 App

Inbed some Twitter stuff too, make it easy to retweet posts, hopefully members RT some stuff but more importantly the Susie twitter will actually begin to shine some light upon not only forum topics, discussions and careers but also the downloads.
Bring on-board some of the FM video guys in official capacities, try and capture the market a little. Bribe them with FM discussion, SI mugs and some inflated unique visitors to Susie figures.
Then we start to rebook WCW circa 2000, how can we turn the ship around? We still have some great (ageing) talent around us but with some consistent Goldberg booking and less of the backstage politics shit I think we can pull it off.
#279279 Boom and bust transfers
Sheriff Skacel
I've noticed that PSG are also murder for it, only difference being PSG will hand out 70k+ contracts and proceed to play the player twice in three years. Seriously needs looking at, the game just can't compute the transfer policies of big clubs. Like I said, its fine if it happens every now and then (Man C with Rodwell, Johnson, Sinclair, etc are prime examples), but we're talking about it happening with 3-5 players every single season.
For anyone interested the player I posted has started the season well for Dortmund, 2 goals in 5 games, 2 assists also and averaging a 7.24. Although I fear it may take more than that to break Dortmund's 43 year title drought.
#279151 Boom and bust transfers
Sheriff Skacel
A 40m hit on the transfer for Juve, makes the deal I got for him all the better. You see this type of thing quite a bit with leagues that aren't loaded and leagues that get added midway through a game.
I picked up the player for under 2m from the Barca B team, since I've never had La Liga loaded both Barca and Madrid have a tendency to stockpile talent, dump it in their B teams and then flog it off on the cheap. On the front of adding leagues I added Serie A a few seasons back, I find it always takes 4-6 seasons for added leagues to settle down and cut out the erratic behaviour. So I caught Juve at a perfect time in getting that 45m for him.
#279148 Issues with FM15 I'd like to see resolved in FM16
Sheriff Skacel
Its the same with the players, are their agents forcing moves? is the player just wanting to kick up a fuss to get a new deal? is the player just a total mong?
FM can be very, very frustrating. For the most part you just have to take it on the chin and accept the limitations in place. One thing I've wanted for years is for the Chairman and Board Members to have actual profiles with stats, personality descriptions, etc. This would help add a bit of character and depth to board interactions and decisions.

Sheriff Skacel
Since you have edited the players they will need time to gel also, I wouldn't be too hawk eye when it comes to the 3D engine. I think individual match statistics on the team and players can tell you more than simply watching the game on 3D and picking certain things out.

#278612 Physio wages bug?
Sheriff Skacel
To be honest you shouldn't be struggling with physios, there are plenty about. Target someone with atleast 15 for the Physio stat and who is under 40ish. Within a few seasons they nearly always hit 20

Its a great idea but its a question of free time, it takes a hell of a lot of time and commitment to pull something like this off. What you really need is 1 guy leading the way and taking ownership of it, someone with plenty of free time and know-how. If that doesn't happen then you'll get what you pointed out, an inconsistent DB of 50-200 players.
Just the other week I set about recreating the 03/04 season in FIFA, recreated Arsenal, got onto Villa and then discovered FIFA has a limit of 30 created players. Heart breaking.
#278009 Worst Player You've Ever Had?
Sheriff Skacel
It can be one of or a combination of things, from stats such as consistency, adaptability to his confidence levels, injuries, your tactics not suiting him, etc
You'll never nail it 100% everytime, I've signed players who I thought would suit my tactics perfectly, everything seemed to be lined up. But for whatever reason the stars just never aligned. On the flipside I've signed players for backup roles and they've ended up exceeding my expectations and landing starting berths.
At this point I now avoid players who the scouts find to be injury prone or inconsistent (unless they are under 22 as a lot of players under that age are listed as inconsistent)

If you walk in and promise long ball, set piece orientated, high-profile signing football and then end up delivering passing, youth development football with 5 foot 3 midgets then you just put yourself under unnecessary pressure from the board.
