To be fair if we hadn't slipped up against Rovers twice (and Fulham twice and Sheffield Wednesday twice), we'd have 6 more points and would be in an infinitely more relaxed position.

Very true!

Draw at home to Bristol City for us, not exactly the ideal result, but we're a point closer to Forest and Birmingham than we were a couple of hours ago. Still though this was our 'easiest' fixture on paper of the remaining games.

If Huddersfield hadn't slipped up v Bristol City, Forest, twice against Rovers they'd probably go up in 2nd and take advantage of Newcastle's poor form.

3-0 Juve tonight, no coming back from that for Barca.

Dortmund-Monaco to be played tomorrow after the shocking incident with the Dortmund team bus.

I'm not so sure about Empoli to be honest. They've only got 1 point in the last 9 games and if they keep that up and Crotone can get another win from somewhere then the gap will be down to 2 points.

For the first game I felt the chances were there to beat them, maybe not clear cut chances but still chances which is about as good as it gets against Juve these days. I think Mertens hit the post and had a shot straight at Buffon from inside the box and on another day Hamsik probably puts one of those sliced shots from the edge of the box in the bottom corner. Obviously he made up for it with the goal but in the end a draw only really suited Juve. Overall a decent performance but just didn't have enough to win.

I didn't watch the second game I only saw a few highlights but it's nice to know we can still beat Juve, even if Neto played a large part in that and that they still went through. Just the league to focus on now and hopefully 2nd place

I expected Empoli to beat Pescara and Crotone to lose against Inter, after the results though it's on now yep! I hope Crotone stay up, got a good save with them going on FM at the moment haha.

Another good result for you last night, feels like the teams that end 2nd/3rd (i.e. Roma and Napoli, whichever order) will end with a record amount of points for those positions. Juve won't be caught though unfortunately.

Classic Gennaro Gattuso in Serie B this season. He's manager of Pisa who could get relegated despite having the best defence in the entire league.

That's crazy. Empoli meanwhile have only scored 17 goals all season in Serie A yet will almost certainly stay up.

What did you make of the two Napoli v Juve games this week? I watched the one on Sunday and Napoli were really impressive. They might not have created many clear chances but it's extremely hard to do that against a defensive Juve. Then I know they got knocked out last night but it was another positive result.

Says a lot for how shit Gillingham's defence is to have scored twice as many goals and be below Oldham on goal difference.

Haha, true.

3-1 defeat at Reading tonight. Didn't expect to get anything but to get it back to 2-1 but then concede again a minute later is dire. Thankfully Bristol City (who we've still to play at home) and Forest (who we've got to play away yet) also lost, so we keep hanging on in there....

A City win tomorrow - would that mean the top 4 is done and dusted? United and Arsenal don't look good enough to catch those above them.

4 wins in a row for Palace, go on Big Sam. Burnley only 5 points above the bottom 3 - please go down.

Couldn't believe it (like the co-commentator) when the ref gave the penalty. It didn't affect the result obviously, but still.

Was desperate for a Huddersfield win (the game didn't only have an impact at the top of the table, Sky Sports), but if we keep up our decent form we should.....should being the key word.....be okay.

Karanka did well to get them promoted - they were lower bottom half I think when he joined - but they were going down as it stood with him, simple as that. 4 wins and 19 goals all season is terrible. This at least gives them a chance.

Can't believe the ref fell for Suarez's dive for the 5th goal, thought he had him figured out after correctly booking him earlier.

PSG have only got themselves to blame though. Even after that penalty they were still going through! Saw a stat saying they only completed 4 passes from the 85th minute onwards - 3 of which were from kick offs

Glad to be finally on the home straight. The championship is the fucking pits. Reading have listed 'reading fans' as their 8th substitute ffs.

It is indeed pretty depressing. And yet if we can finish 21st this season I'd be delighted! Shows what we've been reduced to.

Newcastle aren't going to bottle this! Surely we'll be seeing the Toon in the PL next season.

Yeah, their last two results have confirmed that (if ever there was any doubt).

Two 1-0 wins in a row for us now, 7 points out of 9 under Mowbray. One goal conceded. Really happy with how it's going under him so far, get the defence organised and go from there, that's how you do it.

You'd think Stoke would have tried to stop Kane a bit more, that's 3 games in a row now I think he's had a field day against them.

For obvious reasons I really like Hughes, and while I think he's done a good job overall at Stoke, they aren't a patch on the side he built at Rovers.

Despite the fact it should have been 3 points (but for dogged defending and lacklustre finishing), I'll always take a point away at Barnsley. Disappointing not to see the job through, but they're a good side having a good season and we won't win them all.

There was a point yesterday when you were two points off top spot, when you were winning and Newcastle losing. You've defo got a good chance of automatic promotion, still quite a few games to go and you've got Newcastle at home coming up, win that and it's on!

Fucking hell this is shit, can't even beat a mid table Belgian team. Do well to finish in the top half next season if we do end up playing at Wembley.

Is it not confirmed that you're playing all your home games there next season? Thought it was!

Mental game. City will probably get through thanks to their two goal cushion now but they're not going to go much further with that defence.

Credit to Monaco, some excellent stuff going forward (would have been interesting to see how the game would have gone had Falcao put them 3-1 up) but they just fell apart a bit towards the end.

Given that it takes Venky's about two weeks to approve anything, chances are this was all agreed well before the United game, probably after the dire draw against Rotherham.

I'm delighted about the long overdue removal of somebody who should never have been here in the first place, it gives us at least a chance of survival that IMO we didn't have under him. But it's hard to be too happy about anything at Rovers, given that Venky's are the main problem.

Hope I'm wrong (as usual!).

You mean you can't see football genius Owen Coyle masterminding a victory over Mourinho?

Lincoln doing well, 0-0 at HT, hopefully they can nick one second half.
