I think it might be because he was released outside a transfer window. This means you wouldn't be able to play him until the next transfer window.

There is too much concern from SI that if they have outrageous acts committed by a real life player in the game it could be interpreted that they'd written the player to act in that way - potentially interpreted as libel.
