This is a career I have been playing for a couple of months, until I stopped to try and do the African career, however the game decided it wanted to crash once I had committed myself to writing it up on here, so I have stopped it. So I am going to go back to this career again, except, write it up onto here. So far in the save: I began with Busan lPark in South Korea. They were rock bottom, and were relying on other teams for them to have a chance of staying up. Despite 2 wins and 4 draws from 6 games, the were relegated. I didn't have the second league in South Korea loaded, so I had to resign after 6 games. Then I moved to South Africa, with Orlando Pirates, one of the giants of South Africa. I was looking to put the disappointment of Busan behind me, but the first season was slightly disappointing as we only managed 4th. However in the second year, we won the domestic double. Having won almost everything, domestically, in South Africa, I moved to China, in light of their high profile signings in real life. I had a very short stay in China, as the registration rules were too complicated and I could field a strong enough side having joined half way through the season, so I left after a few months. I then joined FC Seoul, and won the league in my first season. However after a very stingy board weren't happy with a 3rd place finish the following year, they terminated my contract. During this time, I was offered the South Korea U23s job, and finished 3rd in the Asian Football Games. I decided after being in Asia for most of my short career, I was going to move somewhere different, so I went to the MLS with SKC. I finished 11th in the first season, but in the second, I came 2nd, won the Western Conference and then the MLS cup. I also took the Ghana job in this time, and got knocked out of the AFCON in the quarter finals, and was sacked, yet again. Finally, I ended up at Cardiff. I was looking for a Premier League team to join, and there were 3 available, all of which were destined for relegation. Cardiff took me on, for the last two games of the Premier League season, and we were relegated. I am now in the second season, and in the Championship, and 1/4 of the way through it.

This is the league table as it stands

The Star Players:

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/G927RZ7hPjoNYSNzT9zPp8OtC0yKuaDFnAtXktqo.jpg

The best player at the club. I signed him for £2.9m from Benfica as he wanted to leave. Not sure why he wanted to leave champions league football, to come the Championship, but he did. He is a Uruguayan international, and at only 20, will undoubtedly be an insane centre back

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/nGqQA9VoceusqMo5hd65SUoOJdSWH6XRCJQGCD3P.jpg

Only on loan, but another incredible deal for a Championship team. For some reason cannot get into the West Ham team, and we couldn't afford to shell out the £7.75m asking price, so a loan will do for now. Quite a few big clubs were sniffing around for him before we brought him in

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/kF3UJGCIkaKBFVDojeJbUU6hVgandOIuga5QLRQX.jpg

Finally, the player of the season so far, Joe Dodoo. Was at Ipswich but got released in the summer. I knew about him as he was always on the fringes of making the Ghana squad. He scored quite a few goals for Ipswich, but was only supposed to be a backup. However with 16 goals in 16 games and 9 assists, he has earned a starting spot

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/TbcStCAmbKnAYrh0nwNXzV407rjwBG1NvgFPeGyz.png

Finally the schedule so far. The results that instantly jump out at you are the 4 defeats in a row. I was testing out formations, and the one I used on those particular occasions obviously didn't work. Despite this, they are our only losses of the season which is the main reason we aren't higher than 5th. Another result is the 2-1 victory over Manchester United in the Capital One Cup. Although the fielded a weakened team, it was still a great result considering they are top of the premier league after only losing once. But that is where I am at right now, and the next game is against Charlton Athletic

A valiant effort saw us snatch a draw from struggling Charlton. We were two up within 31 minutes, but a unnecessary red card to star man, Bruno Da Silva, added pressure. Fortunately, they missed the resulting penalty. However, they deservedly pulled one back, and back up left back, Lars Broberg, also received a stupid red card. The bus was subsequently parked. 5 at the back, wingers became defensive wing backs, and Jurgen Locadia as a lone striker to waste time. It worked. We won. Up to 4th

In a narrow game, we came out eventual winners with a severely weakened defence. All but the left back were second or third choice, and we even had a 17 year old centre back on the bench. But Joe Dodoo got the goal, again, to win it for us.

Barnsley continued their woeful start to the season as we beat them 2-0. Joe Dodoo got his inevitable goal, while Rodrigo Bentancur, also got on the scoresheet. We have the highest goal difference in the league and are only 3 points of the leaders, Derby.

4th choice striker, Brad Nicholas, went out on loan to Crewe, as he wouldn't get a game. I changed the tactic from a 2 striker formation, to a one striker formation.

A game which was short of chances, but we deserved to win. The Cape Verdean international, Jovane Cabral, scored a brace late in the match. The match also saw me play against the former captain of FC Seoul, Lee Jae-Sung, who I sold during my time at Seoul 4 years ago

Another one sided affair in which we were the victors. Rodrigo Bentancur scored his 3rd of the season, and Victor Moses latched on to a defensive mistake to double our advantage. Angelo Henriquez, however stole the clean sheet from us and got the a consolation goal. However there was a bit of sad news...

Following the memorable victory against the Premier League leaders, Manchester United, we follow it up with an awful performance against 23rd placed, in League 1, Walsall. How we managed to lose with an almost fully fit side is beyond me, but it also highlights the importance of Joe Dodoo to our side. Not overly convinced by Jurgen Locadia either. We could have been in the semi-finals but the team bottled it.

FA Cup Draw:

We have been drawn against Wolves in the FA Cup third round, not a bad tie, but could definitely been easier

December was a relatively successful month in our bid for an instant return to the Premier League. We scored 14 goals and conceded 3 in the five games, with six of them coming against Huddersfield. To begin with, we had a shaky start to the month with a narrow 1-0 win against Burnley. Then we destroyed Huddersfield, with all of the front three scoring, one of which is Josh Murphy. He is primarily there as a squad player and has been looking for a way out of the club since I arrived, but since Joe Dodoo was out injured, and the other two strikers were under-performing, I gave him a go up front. He repaid the faith by scoring a brace. Kim Jin-Su also got his first goal for the club. The next game of real significance was a second versus third tie. We took a two goal advantage before the break, but then threw it away late into the second half. The other two games were a 4-0 and a 1-0 win against Wigan.

The Star Player

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/XcM59ZMZoLb8s2WTLY7FAW6O5zbg77TX25ZccuAE.png

Jovane Cabral, the right winger, really stepped up in the absence of Joe Dodoo. He scored in every game but the first this month, and got a lot of assists. I signed him for £600k for Maritimo in Portugal, and he made a slow start but has, recently, improved.

The League Table

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/QarWLNiW6yaqOAZkM6aGvMaQPsoT6wHTj80QN0wI.png

After a good month, we find ourselves in second place; three points off the leaders Newcastle. However we have a superior goal difference to everyone in the league, so if they happen to slip up, we will be able to take top spot pretty quickly

The Squad

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/y4nejFD7606nrbRmVlYqx2q695vmcr7D2yIMf5hQ.jpg

With the transfer window just around the corner, I am looking at my squad to see who is worth keeping, and who I should shift on. There are only two players I am going to actively try to move on, and they are Reece Burke, and Steven Kinsella. Reece Burke is a backup player but is on £23,500 p/week, which is one of the highest at the club. Whereas Steven Kinsella has only started one game, and isn't good enough, really, to be playing at this level and definitely not at Premier League standard. One player I will be looking to hold onto is Gonzalo Escalante. He has recently come to me asking if he could leave as Boca Juniors were interested in him, and it would be hard to stop him returning to Argentina, especially with Boca Juniors. Should he leave though, I will need to invest my transfer budget into a top class central midfielder. Even if he doesn't leave, though, I need to sign a rotational centre midfielder, as Jack Hooper is currently fourth choice, and he is not good enough yet, although he probably will be in the near future. I may also look for a backup/replacement defensive midfielder.

The Upcoming Fixtures

The first two games of January are very winnable with Middlesbrough in the relegation zone and Coventry in mid-table. The FA Cup tie against Wolves will be a close game, and I think we should win, despite the fact that I'm going to rotate the team as we have a massive game against Newcastle at home, and it is crucial we win this if we want any chance of winning the Championship like I know we're capable of. Finally the game against Southampton should be a close game, but I will expect a win.

The Journeyman - January 2022

Transfers Out:

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/7quvRmA6TDUq6rih4T3axGRA3K1VyqBKiXBS8wwq.png

The first player to leave the club is Steven Kinsella. Only played twice, once of the bench. Poor piece of business initially from me, as we lose £300k as he heads to Ipswich

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/EzSwswik06c4cJ7H00S4eO81dPnbuTOCEijn4uA0.png

The second player to leave is Reece Burke. Was nothing special, but filled in at centre back, but more so right back, when needed. If he was on a lower wage, I probably would have kept him. Went to Burnley for £1.3m which surprisingly means we made £100k on him.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/d2DwPWu0yWT9VclQXh5VW8t44NKJ9g49rWxt2Hr9.png

The final player to leave permanently was Tiago Ferreira. Didn't expect to be selling him, but at 28 he wasn't going to improve and it meant we had £1.5m more to spend as he left to Fulham.

Transfers In:

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/AzJ1qpECBAlbhGr6LmDC2ywSYsnKKdpEoyp36185.png

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/CzNUjE1cCujKDekkmuwPgEMsJh0upvud2JBB1BsG.png

The first two signing were arranged a while back, but they're two regens who have very good potential. However what surprised me the most about them is their nationalities. The first one; Steven Ualesi, although declared for the USA since I bought him, is originally from Samoa. He is a centre back who doesn't have the best pace, but is very physical. The second is Tsai Yi-hsuan, from Chinese Taipei, he is also eligible for USA but hasn't been declared yet. He is a very pacey right back, but his technicals aren't great. Due to the obscure nationalities, neither have work permits, so I sent them both out on loan in the hope that they will get one. They both came in on frees.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/SfTN7Q3i8SM25g4f4rgzMtGD0xvtQFNkkj83Cias.png

The next player is Jose Pinto, a defensive midfielder. He was on the transfer list at Benfica, and again, like with Bruno Da Silva, I managed to snap him up. Looks like an incredible player for this level and can fill in anywhere along the defensive line, or central midfield. He is going to replace the defensive midfielder I currently have. I signed him for £6.5m

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/VWwc0twb9wkRxGeIHxkEIXw794qZD8qzDHxo4C8r.png

Kevin Akpoguma comes in as the Reece Burke replacement. However instead of being limited to just centre and right back, he can play anywhere across the defensive line, either wing back, defensive and central midfield and also at striker. He is 6'4" has great pace and is incredibly strong. In addition to all of these, he is also an international with Nigeria. I signed him for £1.6m from Real Sociedad

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/8aqYjrAfH2n32AmOqNAzerVRrwGehLTpR1dXKmmG.png

The penultimate player I brought in was Kanu. Despite the name, is eligible for England as well as Brazil. He is only 17 and is quite tall at 6'2". Was signed from League 2 side Birmingham City for £325k

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/vF8cVAR8AXh1ZT4eIfV2BbcTIW14I1AddxS5K2Jc.png

The final player I brought in was Ignacio Dura. He is only 21 and has incredible potential. He is the replacement to Tiago Ferreira and is as good if not better despite being 7 years younger. Already has one cap for Spain but was on the transfer list at Atletico Madrid, and I managed to get him on the cheap at £2.6m.

The Capital One Cup

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/h1ZqOemTkL0c4HCgfAVd0UYCL9aUjk5nTvBItgL8.png

Despite the frustration of going out to a team in the division below us, Walsall managed to beat Premier League side QPR 6-5 on aggregate and are now in the final of the Capital One Cup where they will face Chelsea.

Staff management is not a part of FM that I am very good at, so there won't be many staff movements. However we changed assistant managers because I just happened to come across someone who was better than the one I already had. He is also Welsh so it is a bonus. I also brought in James Morrison, formerly of West Brom, to be a scout. I signed him during my time at FC Seoul and he ended up becoming the captain and eventually an icon. He was willing to join us and it is nice to be joined up with him again. He also has a good knowledge of South Korea. Finally I brought in Charlie Daniels, formerly of Bournemouth. He was recommended to me in a backroom meeting, so not much to say on him. He comes in as another scout.

The Results

http://i.imgur.com/a77R4LI.png

Another very good month in our bid for the title. The first game was a 3-1 victory over Coventry. Jovane Cabral got a brace and Rikard Mellberg got a rare goal. The next game was a 2-0 victory against Middlesbrough, which was a lot tighter than it needed to be. Tiago Ferreira got his first and only goal for the club in the game too. The third game was very disappointing. We were 2-0 up and threw it away against a Wolves side who we should be beating. We have lost twice in 24 games, both of which have come in the cup. The next game was probably the biggest game of our season so far, as we played top team Newcastle. We ended up 2-0 winners and did the double over the, this season. Most pleasingly, though, was Joe Dodoo's goal in the 29th minute. He came back from injury at the start of this month ant hadn't scored and was performing poorly. Josh Murphy doubled our lead to fire us into 1st position. Finally we played Southampton. We made a flying start to the game as inside 13 minutes we were 2-0 up. Gonzalo Escalante scored an overhead kick from the edge of the box and is surely a goal of the season contender. Joe Dodoo completed the scoring on 38 minutes.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/wnABu83XSRP6pCziEuwlLupVEux76J294DBFAAbQ.png

The month was so good they even gave me manager of the month, with 4 consecutive victories. With Lee Bullen and someone called Jamie Vardy coming in third...

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/8Q9AKqxRu7lehpAthF7orVpe4xLdlBYYznqBB0Rg.png

After January, we have climbed up to first place and are 3 points clear of second placed Newcastle with an 18 goal swing in our favour, which is particularly pleasing. Derby have dropped off the pace with 10 draws this season but are well in the mix for a promotion place.

The Star Performer

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/AgaFDBDbOQHengFDlkvUKeBjsOkjRkKIsGWjaFyY.png

Gonzalo Escalante has been a consistent performer all season, but the overhead kick rounded it off. Unfortunately he seems to have his sights set on a move away from the club, as he wants to win trophies... hopefully if we win this year, he will stay as I know he is good enough for the Premier League

The Squad

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/YnjJnnmOQb8chipsz6zpvpRiOdiMmzeYhCwfSvrp.jpg

The transfer window has slammed shut, and this is how the team will remain for the rest of the season. I will be looking for a new keeper next year, whether we get into the Premier League or not, as the Cardiff legend David Marshall has decided to retire after playing 457 times for the club. The keeper will either be a backup to Jordan Pickford or a replacement and Pickford will become number 2. I almost signed a keeper from Atletico Madrid who would probably be the best player at the club however his wage demands were extortionate at this level (£71k) and he went to Nantes anyway.

The Upcoming Fixtures

February is the month we should extend our lead at the top with ease. All of the teams are around mid-table. Leeds were relegated with us this year too, so it'll be interesting to compare how the two sides have developed since the relegation

Played two months forward, to speed it up. Despite the results looking pretty average compared to previous months, we were helped out by Derby and Newcastle both completely imploding. Derby went on a 5 game winless run and Newcastle went on a 7 game winless run around the same period so our results were quite good. A common theme with the results is the goalscorers; Joe Dodoo and Jovane Cabral. Other than the two defeats the most disappointing result was the 4-4 draw with Fulham. We went 2-0 then came back to 2-2 then went ahead, 3-2, and again they came back, and yet again we went ahead. But late on the scored and tied it at 4-4. We didn't deserve to win but to throw away the lead twice having come back from a two goal deficit is disappointing.

The League Table:

We are now 11 points clear at the top, not down to anything spectacular from us, but a complete implosion from the two teams competing with us. After Newcastle lost to us, they went on a 7 game streak where they didn't win including a 3-0 defeat to relegation candidates Middlesbrough, and a 4-1 defeat to the bottom side, Wigan. Derby suffered the same fate to the same to sides; a 6-3 defeat to Middlesbrough and a 3-3 draw with Wigan. Due to this we have...

Due to the good form of Joe Dodoo and Jovane Cabral, they have both earned deserved recalls to their respective national sides. Also Tom Ward and Steven Ualesi have both been called up for USA U20s. Neither have work permits so hopefully this will help them earn one. Also Tsai Yi-hsuan has been called up for the Chinese Taipei national team which will probably hinder his chances of earning a work permit. Finally Jordan Pickford has earned a call up to England, and might be able to make his debut, although unlikely and Ignacio Dura has been called up to Spain duty and might be able to earn his second senior cap.

The new signing, Kevin Akpoguma has settled in really well, but, despite not doing anything 'stand-out' its how he fills in anywhere and does a good job. He has played 6 games at centre back, 6 games at right back and 3 games at left back, as well as being moved around constantly during games. He also managed to get his first goal for the club.

The last 7 games, providing we don't pull a Derby or a Newcastle should be irrelevant. We should, without excuse should win the league. Also with Derby last game of the season, means we can decide, probably, whether they go up with us or are reduced to the play-offs.

The Results

The end of the season was completely woeful, which was kicked off by a 1-0 defeat to Wolves which we definitely didn't deserve to lose. We won the next two games which was crucial to our title ambitions. The next game was the one where we can seal the title, against Reading. We went 2-0 down, but I brought on Jovane Cabral and Joe Dodoo who both scored. However they sealed it late on but...

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/gFFcgq0QLZaZ7N5cEYl231R25q3TiVy5h0WuOkH8.png

...we won the league! We make an immediate return to the Premier League. The other results were irrelevant as I played a rotated squad including club legend David Marshall, who is retiring at the end of the year to become a coach at the club.

The League Table

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/LloroT9Wwr61MdQh7krp78LP766C907buePETFDM.png

This is the final league table. Ourselves and Derby County will be promoted automatically. The other team who were fighting for promotion, Newcastle, lost 5 of the last 6 games and ended up in 6th. Barnsley, Peterborough and Wigan are going to be relegated. Our goal difference is the most pleasing point at +52.

The League Stats

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/53AycURw7MVept7VGmQ4ky9FUDDmnS53b6yTHkX8.png

In the end Derby's Sandro scored 37 goals. Joe Dodoo was eventually edged out of the top scorers at the end. Jovane Cabral and Victor Moses finished top two on the average rating tables and Jordan Pickford finished third in the clean sheet tables. Our poor discipline was demonstrated in the yellow cards charts, as we had two players in there.

The Squad

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/5xYIGcPMJXu4YXYwaosq1zzdvuAKfEWc2Yrv5j9L.jpg

This is the final squad. Joe Dodoo scored 30 and got 10 assists in 37 games and was our top scorer. Right back, Santos, got the most assists at 16. I will look to be looking to offload a few players. Jurgen Locadia tops my list of people to shift on, as he is on quite a lot of money, and I am never confident that he'll score. I will also look to get rid of Solly March, because he never performs any better than average and has only got 1 assist and no goals this season, and this is obviously poor for a winger. I may look to loan out Anton Konradsson and Jack Hooper as neither of them are Premier League standard. Victor Moses has requested to leave as he has 'outgrown the club' and also Ben Marshall will probably be leaving the club. He can't seem to master the right back position, and even when he does he will be third choice. I will be looking to bring in a keeper, either to replace Pickford or serve as a backup to him. I need to buy at least two more strikers, as Konradsson and Locadia will most likely be leaving the club. Finally I may need to buy a new right winger to replace Victor Moses.

The End of Season Rewards

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/wAE98dRHrOagwmUVZY28oAP3HOM5WQ1FfGN2la8P.png

Jovane Cabral won three of the four awards, with Gonzalo Escalante winning the goal of the season.

The Next Season

At the end of a season which has seen me complete 300 games in management, we've had the budget announced...

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/zJDIiTAapCNssQ1LPmZxDNnOTakeYhOIivF6VTWN.png

...its fair to say the chairman has been very generous. But I did make a £44m profit this season from player sales alone, so it is definitely deserved. We have also broken a 'record'...

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/7Tzpwx1bLfEoj1Avle7Zf0mw9yh2dew3ikX5l8Io.png

...the worst discipline in the history of the championship. Interesting. Finally, we have also been hit with some interesting transfer rumours...

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/ezMpGyivypFPAbE4TJobDxlEM33vMv2YgOlDutvs.png

...Some big teams including Chelsea and Liverpool, are looking to buy Jovane Cabral for around £7m. It's an interesting rumour considering he has no chance of getting anywhere near their first team.

The Journeyman - Summer Transfers 2022/23

Transfers Out

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/exMF8v8XSQC1eWUcY6P0SEWydbOEKRM0cEVvswBp.png

The first transfer was Santos to Nantes. Our right back was our top assister last year, so it's no surprise he had interest in him, however I would never have imagined getting £17m for him. He was a very good player, but I was pleased to get as much as we did for him.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/8DMUVBFGWu6Zkmzs4X8LkYHAHIvgX92ZAhqZNzAS.png

The rumours were true. Jovane Cabral went to Chelsea for £12m. Probably could have got a little more for him, but I definitely wouldn't be surprised to see him on the transfer list in January.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/RE2cbkRqpqfC8YuY1VfJqCANMjMPpWKsBvh7Clr8.png

Josh Murphy left on loan to his former club, Sheffield Wednesday. Performed well in the second half of the season, but I don't think he would have made the step up well.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/RMMwkbDR1lZqMyrnfZI0h0qcA2TOWYJWijqo6dtU.png

Another surprising transfer. Lars Broberg left for £13m to FC Metz. He was a backup last season and was probably going to be the same this season, but to get £13m for him meant that there was no way I could possibly turn it down.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/83MHTAvDGPODXekDbjO6JCZxTawZk37kjKYz9ftz.png

Jack Hooper played a fair amount for us last season, but in truth, he probably wasn't even good enough for the Championship. Despite this, Huddersfield took him on loan.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/1HYJzTXFJGbi48UOV51juwZrOvavdwmi8niUsIk1.png

Jurgen Locadia leaves for Fiorentina for £3m. He began the season as a starter, but he never impressed, and other than then occasional goal, didn't offer the team anything. Strikes me as a lazy player and he was on too much money for how much he was playing.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/WHpSPommMNpExKL2pCnQFkkXWUBJkTRVpq0PHEjP.png

I loaned out Anton Konradsson to Rangers, as he isn't good enough for the Premier League. Might even try to sell him when he comes back.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/ai3lna9o87jmKHLQkkJcabK44NUKQOqvvEgV4Dhb.png

Tom Ward goes on loan to Pacos Ferreira and will hopefully get a work permit sooner rather than later

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/6P7p4v7e3DPEMQOy8M4qtuCjMtyNeSvia7QRyS8M.png

Finally, Solly March left to Sunderland for £450k. Would have preferred to get a little more than I did for him, but just happy to get him off the wage bill.

Transfers In

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/4Fk6vQufh5HA8lhyaxobObWSSMEycyaA7edlMgDl.png

I needed a backup goalkeeper and he was available for a cheap price of £1.7m. Was a trainee at Manchester United so is a home-grown player.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/1kuxlHuhczWsUnYjAhioa4unbR7M0GF7TVbIg4dE.png

The former Man City youngster comes in from relegated Hull City for £1.8m. Is another home-grown player who will fill the gaps left by Solly March and Josh Murphy

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/snRatkiSYGPMn1GKzz4Vnm2Q5XhvMiH76PVWRlWM.png

With the departure of Lars Broberg, it meant I had to bring in a backup left back. Jeffrey Schlupp was on the transfer list at West Ham, and I managed to get him for £425k. I used him when I was the manager of Ghana and one of his best attributes was his versatility. Can play anywhere on the left side as well as striker.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/daLM5bYHuB4C3suLdGEgBVwhtXn2IYue0zvEkeZt.png

With Santos leaving, I needed a new right back, who was a similar mould to him. Victor has the stats to be a really good right back, and is also Brazilian. Came in for £6.5m from Cruzeiro.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/Qww1UzsIT0hyp2iZLe7NDj1X2zDySD0um3PvoG3u.png

The first big signing of the transfer window. I needed someone who was a lot better than Jovane Cabral and Oliveira is that man. Is probably the best player at the club, and comes in from Gremio for £14m

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/3j1r3bspt5CVDdCIv1YuokbUSt32SCKGmjsjQJe5.png

Kim Jin-Su, the current left back, is whining about not being at a big enough club, and at 30 years old I am happy for him to leave. So I was looking around for a left back, and immediately, this guy stood out. Maybe because he was an Egyptian playing in Brazil or maybe because of his name; Mohamed Mohamed. Anyway, he came in from Corinthians for £20m and is another incredible player. I have also nicknamed him MoMo

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/hhG6e1syxJdlZxm2sfKuuxfWHY4ufRVMoUpCW71s.png

Bryan Heynen was on the transfer list at Inter, and I managed to sign him for £6.5m. With Rodrigo Bentancur going back to West Ham after his loan, I needed a replacement and this guy was who I got.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/AkVgpUmnCmUnpPHh1JRZ60luP6C7WxYS7ANd5OFd.png

He's back! I have been trying to buy him since we brought him in on loan, but West Ham would either flat out reject it, or want ridiculous money. Even after he returned, they said they were going to give him a chance in the first team. I decided to give it one last try, and for some reason, they accepted £1.9m... He will replace Gonzalo Escalante in midfield and partner Bryan Heynen.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/7WwQAl5zzRswv2cdnzEcvLZMw6Q4miuV4Xs251dQ.png

Mauro is the third choice striker. He has incredible potential at only 19, and will fill in when needed. Came in for £6.5m from Internacional.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/zywFQyoV6ZFluCWpYqfDAVd3vrgcYY6CQzO5927g.png

I was looking around for strikers, but they were all expensive. I figured I am going to have to spend big if I want someone good. Mamadu Bobo Mane seemed like the best option, and has a proven goal scoring record. Came in for £17.5m from Burnley and will now be the first choice striker

I did also bring in two young regens with a lot of potential. Luigi Russo is first, coming in from Chievo for £1.1m
. I also signed a Ghanaian striker called Lawrence Addo for £350k.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/ycfNlL3Ht996s2Ei0O2K8XsEn6oY5gT98c7RpLTN.jpg

These are the final transfers, with a whopping £78.07m being spent and £45.95m being brought in. Our biggest buy was MoMo for £20m from Corinthians, and our biggest sale was the £17m sale of Santos to Nantes.

The Squad

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/VHlNWtNBtU2D8SIDA1DSPuocffQXorN7GPjnCYIP.jpg

This is the squad for this season. I am still looking to move Victor Moses and Kim Jin-Su out of the club, as they both want to leave as they want to move to a bigger club, despite being 31 and 30. I am also looking at a potential replacement for Victor Moses. He is called Alisson, he's Brazilian and will, hopefully, come in on a free transfer.

International Offers

After the world cup finished, several manager obviously got the sack, including the Wales, Australia and Poland, all of which were after my services. For me, it was between Poland and Wales. I wanted to take one definitely, but it was a toss up between Poland and Wales. In the end I went for...

http://www.dragon-sport.co.uk/faw.png

...Wales! Wasn't really a hard choice. I felt it would be interesting to manage a Bale-less Wales and see what comes of it. Also I can bring some of my youth academy through and maybe give them some senior minutes if they are ready, earlier than they would usually get it.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/dkGz0d2uQclCGGbrnI84gNw1msDniRTLdYUAkk8u.png

Also, England decided to take Pickford at the number 3. He started the first game and earned his first senior England cap. However England got knocked out in the group stages and eventually Italy won it.

Pre-Season Results

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/t4O551RK5smiOPl6o8VnZxs89XZgwTD8X4qNi8X8.png

The pre-season went well, but there was no real competition. However what I can take from the results is that we have brought in two definite goal scorers in Oliviera and Bobo Mane. Oliviera scored 3 in the 4 games whilst Bobo Mane scored 4 in 4 including a hat trick in the second game against Alfreton.

Upcoming Fixtures

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/0BUvDkmlPs6paktpI4GPhd7AwtKi9UJQSxCa0naz.png

It's a tough start to the season, especially in September where we face Manchester United, Tottenham and Liverpool. Straight after that we also have Chelsea, so it'll be difficult. However I hope to get the win against Watford, Blackpool and Swansea, and hopefully at least a draw against West Ham. If we could get 3 points in September, I would be happy with that, but I am not expecting.

Staff Movement

I was looking through my old teams, and I remembered this guy from when I managed Orlando Pirates. Brought him in a scout as he has good knowledge of Germany, South Africa and also China where he went to after the Pirates. Also something I have completely forgot to do for the entirety of this save if coaching badges. I was on a Continental C License but I am training for a B one

The Results

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/G2JJFjXhdeBkLSb2mhJt0tfQtGBhCqEWMJFu5Dux.png

The beginning of the month of hell. However it began on a lighter note as we managed to beat Watford 1-0, Oliveira scoring on his debut. We were then hit with a reality check when West Ham beat us 3-2. However it was definitely not one sided. We went 2-1 up but the difference in quality prevailed and they won. We won in the Capital One Cup as expected but then we returned to the league with a 2-0 defeat to Swansea, which may look like a bad result however, they currently occupy the top spot. We couldn't repeat last seasons heroics against Manchester United, as we were destroyed 3-1, but Joe Dodoo got his first goal of the season which is pleasing. However I decided after this, I was going to change the tactic so we would stop shipping so many goals. I went 4-4-2, 'counter attacking football' style. For the first game with this tactic; Tottenham. Made better with a red card in the 6th minute. They went 1-0 up, but we pulled it back and managed to snatch a draw. The run in the C1C was short lived as we were kicked out emphatically by Liverpool who we also played in the following game. We were tighter at the back, and stole an undeserved 0-0 draw. But, the media are all to proud of the fact we're on a 5 game winless run, despite who we had to play.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/b4imu3YaSVBhCRRlJ5DMOquslaXBq0zelCpF1mD8.png

This is the tactic I mentioned that I was using. It is also the starting eleven I have been using for the majority of the season. As you may notice, Pinto has dropped back into centre back, and Silvio has lost his place, due to poor form. Patrick Roberts also has earned a starting spot by out-performing Bellarabi.

The League Table

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/9CBuQy2JpCueBuYoigXxtzJNDhT5FCpQeRedzpXW.png

We currently sit in 14th, which is where I expect to be finishing come the end of the season. Liverpool and Tottenham have both made slow starts to the season, which makes our draws seem less impressive, unfortunately. Swansea, Everton, Leicester and Man City occupy the Champions League spots

The Squad

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/Kj1tn9rsafQr5JkN9yQRYzEuZzGFweOOA1Ttg12F.jpg

As you can see, Victor Moses and Kim Jin-Su are both still here annoyingly, as nobody wanted them. Also, Gonzalo Escalante kicked up a fuss about me not letting him go to Argentina, despite not a single offer coming in for him. This has set Tomas Podstawski off complaining about the 'treatment of teammates'. Also by the average ratings, I can see Silvio has struggled to make the step up, but more annoyingly, £20m left back, MoMo has also struggled, making a few mistakes in matches.

Star Player

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/Xq2HgWkxUNHVertQptWWe2SHL3kdEaO4M2J88BtI.png

Jordan Pickford, the number one keeper at the club, is the main reason why we got the draws that we did. He has also made another appearance for England which is good to see.

The Upcoming Fixtures

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/KA1HVm5aYplXLOz1NCzCSCo7AReBZS1oR8YE2Fsb.png

The horrible run of fixtures continues as we have Chelsea and an in-form Leicester. Going by our current form, I dont expect to get anything from the first two, however I do want at least one win from the other two to boost our position in the league an put an end to our winless run.

The 25-man Squad

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/FgurJqSPvAIqtyRN0zjhQ4m2Vdad9OFytsYzu49N.jpg

Goalkeepers

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/ZgD8DNYelkjIVhIRKY0j3OCK4Vv26B4ncB1gn1kD.png

Karl Darlow will be number 1 most of the time, but we have a decent backup in Daniel Ward. Adam Pryzbek is a 22 year old and will probably take over from Darlow and Ward when they decide to retire.

Defenders

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/6lH61ZEtw21iULOUqXWfKImIy8Dpffujy8IpJJsV.png

The pick of the defenders are Jay Dasilva and Jordan Williams; both full backs. Jay Dasilva was previously English and plays for Arsenal currently. Jordan Williams is very versatile, and can fill in almost anywhere if needed. We also have a very good backup in Ben Davies, who is almost too good to leave on the bench so will sometimes play centre back. I will probably look to swap out Morgan Fox next time as we have no back up right backs and he is 4th choice, with there also being Neil Taylor, who I may look to swap out for a centre midfielder next time. Centre back is a weak area for us, the best player being Will Jones. The Swansea man has great potential and will start most games. The other centre back spot is a toss up between the 30-year old, Joe Walsh, or Cardiff City's Simon Taylor. Taylor is probably the better player, but Walsh is more experienced at international level. Louis Thompson is purely a backup

Midfielders

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/RyJWAhaBxXSSgYXP4SPr9xCIZnyiaWu8fEBeYD6w.png

Emyr Huws, Aaron Ramsey and Joe Allen is going to be the starting trio, Aaron Ramsey obviously still the stand-out player. Tom Dyson only has 1 cap but is young so will be a good backup. Jake Taylor can play centre midfield and probably will instead of the wings. Louis Thompson and Jordan Williams can also fill in at centre midfield. On the wings, I am going to start with George Williams on the left, and either Gareth Bale or Harry Wilson on the right. Gareth Bale would be the obvious choice, but at 33 and not getting sufficient gametime at PSG, he is declining fast. He has also already retired from international, however I told him we need his international experience. I would also like him to get 8 more caps to reach the 100 cap milestone. Daniel James is a good enough backup and Jay Dasilva or Tyler Roberts can fill in if need be.

Strikers

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/yxz0VFJhI2RqMqXqfwyOkYyQnq17f7hHLfy5isX4.png

Tyler Roberts and David Roberts; no relation at all, just a coincidence. David is probably the better player, but Tyler Roberts is also very good. One thing we have going for us is that they're both young, and will be in the side for many years, should I stay that long which is unlikely and I am expecting the sack not too long into having the job. Gareth Bale can also do a job up front if we need him to

The Results

For my first game in my tenure, we had Japan at home. What should have been an easy win in a friendly, we decided we didn't want to turn up and lost 6-4 in a thriller. In fairness, they were 5-1 up at one stage, and some great work by the substitutes Tyler Roberts and Harry Wilson made it slightly less convincing. The second game against the Dutch, I was fully expecting a demolition. They went 1-0 up, and we pulled it back with Tyler Roberts again scoring as well as Joe Allen. However they got the equalizer which dampened the mood but still a very impressive draw against a very good Dutch side. This draw put us second, with Holland in 1st with 4 points and Georgia in 3rd with no points from their first game. Our next games are against Holland again and Georgia to see if we can make it out of the group.

Transfer

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/8XhVZscyr0CAPbLuQGIISS9qLEt0A8TWrQT3XksW.png

Not sure how he slipped under my radar during the summer, but he did. Lorenzo Insigne came to my attention when he scored within a matter of seconds for Italy against Germany. This well and truly reduces Victor Moses to the U21s. It is also a problem as Karim Bellarabi, who has already lost his place to Patrick Roberts, is decreasing rapidly and may leave in January.

An Injury...

Jordan Pickford hurt himself in the gym. Hopefully Pierluigi Gollini can step up for the 4-5 weeks he is out.

The Results

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/CRjkuhyx5YDDT0kQh0Ma3ecrt02hJQdNYEgVgtg7.png

The first game of the season was against Chelsea. Using the 4-4-2 tactic, we got another impressive draw, but again; no goals. We then had a game against in form Leicester, and they tore us apart, much to the media's delight as they continue to slate us. The run ended, with a 2-0 win against fellow strugglers, Bournemouth. Bobo Mane got another goal and Victor scored a spectacular free kick. However the relif was short lived as we lost to another newly promoted side, Derby. Sandro got another goal after his prolific season last year. Oliviera got his second goal of the season. The next to games were disappointing draws, against two teams who were bottom at the time we played them. The QPR result lead to the sacking of their manager We also got a 1-1 draw against Norwich which is decent as they are almost in the Champions League. I think I overestimated the strength of our side, or maybe I underestimated the other teams in the league, I don't know.

The League

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/QJCRLUM6YGS843jFnzk8b4ejpuWPcbRBzpx1MvzT.png

We currently sit 2 positions above the relegation zone, but with a solid 4 points between us and Bournemouth. I hope to finish slightly higher than 16th but I'm not sure. I don't really see how we are where we are giving the money I spent. Almost all the profits we made last year, I used on signings.

The Squad

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/X1PSB2D9IujzKWb7eZiAuFkVAIH0NEaCsHKQAchR.jpg

The look at the squad stats really highlights the problem players. The two in particular are Silvio but more so MoMo. He has really struggled and has made at least 2 mistakes which have directly resulted in a goal being conceded, so much so, he has been dropped and Jeffrey Schlupp is being given some gametime, which he has asked for. It also shows the expiring contracts, of which there are only two; Jordan Pickford and Jamie Noyes (some random young goalkeeper). I will definitely be signing Jordan Pickford up again, and for anyone interested, Jamie Noyes probably won't be here next year.

After a spectacular free kick, which helped us to our 2nd win of the season was enough for him to get this. However I don't have much choice as barely anyone is performing to any sort of standard. However he does have the highest average rating at 7.36 which is good for a 16th placed team. He also has the most assists but it's only 3 which is not as impressive.

The First Squad

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/FgurJqSPvAIqtyRN0zjhQ4m2Vdad9OFytsYzu49N.jpg

For the first two games, I picked the exact same squad, so nothing else to say.

The Second Squad

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/KmaTLW3vnGsJ6wVQ9JX1vHU8zTpuuzRcJ1bwQwn4.jpg

For the second squad I decided to drop Neil Taylor, Morgan Fox, Joe Walsh - the most suprising one, and Gareth Bale - thanks to a 6 day injury. I called up Regan Poole instead of Joe Walsh simply as they are about as good as each other but Walsh being 6 years older. I took former Cardiff youngster, Rhys Lack, as he returns from injury. In place of Morgan Fox, Adam Henley returns from injury, and is the back up right back. Finally to replace the Gareth Bale is Ceri Murphy. Only made 6 appearances previously, but is the best winger I didn't call up.

The Results

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/qHlQkI4cNDzA4k1CWhkTkxY7EKUedf6NE3ijqUFC.png

We began the results with a narrow 3-2 victory over Georgia. They have one really frustrating player to play against, they just knock it over the top, and he was the one who scored the goals for them. Tyler Roberts and George Williams were the goalscorers. We then lost 5-2 to Holland, however it wasn't as one-sided as it seems, we did take the lead but they made two changes and both made the difference in the end. This meant we were out, unfortunately, but expected. However Simon Taylor, the centre back, scored his first goal for Wales and during that week, he celebrated by growing an incredible beard for the first time in his life. The next month we had a friendly against Uruguay; we both fielded rotated teams, and they stole the victory, not that I was too bothered. Finally, there was a strange sense of déjà vu as we beat Georgia, again, 3-2, again, with Tyler Roberts and George Williams scoring, again. Anyway, we get another win, but it didn't matter; we were already out.

The Final League Standings

Holland promoted, Georgia relegated. We stay in group 4, and Norway were relegated from Group 3

Adam Henley got 2 assists in the Georgia game, and got an 8.20 match rating as well as putting in a PoM performance. Not much choice over 2 games, but he was the pick of the squad.

Contracts:

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/N6EvwAi3Vr0DM8aaSN8pErSWnUJFrT1Ihu8YCb2Y.png

This news article came up and I was shocked; I was completely unaware of this. Rodrigo Bentancur could have left for a measly £3.3m, when I think I could easily get upwards of about £10m. So I signed him up until 2025, and removed that clause. I also signed a new contract however it was in a unusual manner, which I have never come across before. They asked for a meeting to discuss 'club improvements' where they just asked me if I wanted a new contract. I accepted it, however I am not sure if I will be staying after this season, I would like to manage in a different country.

December was an up and down month. We began the month with 3 teams in the top 7, and then finished it with 3 teams in and around our position. We started it off with a 2-1 defeat to Manchester City. Although I expected it, for a team as big as Man City is, we out-played them and deserved to win. After the game, the media questioned my tactics despite us deserving to win against one of the best teams in the world; yeah they didn't mention that part. Then we had Arsenal; another tricky game. We equalized twice: one from Insigne, and the other in the 90th minute by Oliveira. We then faced an in-form Everton side, who completely destroyed us, but Mamadu Bobo Mane, saved us and got us another valuable point. We then had the games which I thought we should easily win, starting with West Brom. Mamadu Bobo Mane grabbed a brace as we thrashed a 10-man West Brom team. For some reason, I decided to try the old tactic again, which didn't pay off. Newcastle went 2-0 up relatively quickly, so I switched back to the normal tactic at half time. Bobo Mane, again scoring, but they put the game out of doubt with a third. Finally, another game which we completely dominated against Stoke. They went 1-0 up early on with their first shot, and then doubled it soon after with their second shot. They scored their third and final goal with their third shot on target, Rodrigo Bentancur scored the first game after he signed his contract, but it meant nothing. We lost the game despite the match stats looking like this. And just to add insult to injury, Oliviera got an injury this month as well For a team where we are in the league, these games have to be wins.

The League Table

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/cjpVoJ5sif9vOURB1OBKWxrIqHwqb5IkrgLuVh8Q.png

Nervous times. We sit one position above the relegation zone with the Newcastle defeat proving costly. We are 3 points clear but have a +10 better goal difference so technically 4 points. Manchester United, who we face twice next month, are running away with it a bit, but Chelsea are still definitely still in it.

The Squad

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/7kjahTQ3J1wFqJljqoriRHFFs2aGz6E8xfjR5mXS.png

MoMo's form has picked up slightly which is really good to see, however Joe Dodoo and Karim Bellarabi are struggling. Silvio has been out with an injury so he hasn't had a chance to improve. There are also 4 players who haven't played a single game yet. Victor Moses (who finally has some interest in him), Kim Jin-Su, Rikard Mellberg and Jamie Noyes (only 18, not very good and is a 3rd choice keeper). Rikard Mellberg was very good as a backup last year, and has good potential, however I am not sure why I didn't loan him out at the start of the year, so I will look to do that in January. Victor Moses and Kim Jin-Su I will obviously be looking to get rid of them, for £1m cut-price. And Jamie Noyes, will never get into the team, he is just there are backup the the backup keeper Pierluigi Gollini, so he will be leaving at the end of his contract.

The Star Man

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/rthoLu5UW1tqbgng5D6y8z03W2QtbiXVb2UgN1zT.png

Unsurprisingly, Bobo Mane is the star man this month. He is one of the main reasons we aren't in the relegation zone, with 9 league goals so far. This is particularly reliving because Joe Dodoo is not the same player he was last year with only 1 goal this year, and Mauro is still yet to find the net this year but at 19, I'm not too concerned. Joe Dodoo has also asked for more gametime which he is unlikely to get, so he might end up moving soon.

The Upcoming FIxtures

Another difficult month, although I am saying that a lot, so I think they're all tough months. Anyway we have West Ham first who I want to get points against. Then we have a cup game which I really don't care about. Then Watford who I also want points against and in the final 3 game if we could get 1 maybe 2 points, I'd be happy with that.

The Journeyman - January Transfer Window

Transfers Out:

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/VtLzUIyI9tUBIiOlV3UnB8icVEmklzRlER3cqYLT.png

Tsai Yi-hsuan's loan ended mid-season at FC Anyang, so I sent him back out on loan again. He still hasn't got a work permit, but is progressing really well. Has 8 senior caps now.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/v5U74HDTPXl3poJhXSLkVOeuyDLLsyPFVDXk4Gfx.png

Ignacio Dura leaves on loan to Sassuolo. He isn't getting game time which he needs and does deserve.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/07Nv7lsrNaAsX3KHrtwEaczim3BlRzSwOdb4LBMC.png

Well... I didn't expect this. They came in initially with an £8m bid. I upped it to £40m expecting them to flat out reject it. However they came back with a £28.5m bid. I upped it again to £35.5m and they accepted it. There was no way we could turn down that amount. He had all but reached his potential anyway, and we made approximately £30m profit. Going to be a big miss for us, but I have replaced him

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/vZ4x9Tos1KZ53BGNAUSsEbPABcRlxIKT8Ih1FRTw.png

Rikard Mellberg has left on loan. I though he was 22 not 24 so might end up selling him if I am still here come the summer.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/L1C4hTm5PdnpxGxjxMbkRs3UifTzaZoTQjjdRCnV.png

Another big transfer out the club. He was very versatile and that will be the biggest miss for us. Trying to find someone with the same attributes will be difficult, but I think I have someone... We got £25m for him which is decent

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/VNFq0lA5JAKhB4I9AIlqdeKHkrdEgkGBxPRkICEq.png

Was planning on keeping him initially, however with the arrivals of Bellarabi, Roberts and Insigne, he really didn't have a place. Didn't play a game this season, has been in the U21s since the start of the season and his contract expires at the end of the year, hence the slightly low price.

Transfers In:

John Sanchez - Another young, talented American regen - without a work permit. I think I may stop bothering with these 'work permit-less' youngsters now...

Armadno Obispo - Only on loan, but is a talented, young, Dutch centre back. Will be backup in case we need him.

Osvaldo Gimenez - Only on loan, but was initially brought in to play defensive midfield so Pinto could go into centre back, but obviously, he's left. He's in on loan from Monaco. Can also play centre midfield and left midfield and left wing.

Claudinei Rech - Another Brazilian. Is the Pinto replacement, can play centre back and midfield as well as defensive midfield. Currently has a broken toe, which is another reason why I brought in Obispo. Is only 20 years old and has great potential. Comes in for £11m

Rodrigo Dourado - Yet another Brazilian. Can play the same positions as Rech, but will play centre back, and if I stay next season, he will replace Gimenez. He isn't comfortable at centre back but has the stats to be a ball playing defender. Was an Internacional legend, making over 320 appearances for them, having come from their youth academy, before making the switch for £5m.

Other Transfer News:

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/FU9MYgDEYCBgMNQVZGD6iwi4q12eOilKL5aBWwJr.png

I knew it. Sad to see such an influential player for us, be completely wasted at Chelsea. Has returned to the Championship with Aston Villa. He didn't play a single game and this is his career stats before his move.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/nM3foiFNOIEfj3kssW3iKQJIzYz2oYPEvDFDIbtv.png

Kim Jin-Su, after 2 years of whimpering and moaning about lack of gametime, and bigging him self up saying he is 'bigger than the club', he has the decency to dictate to me when he will stay and when he won't. He won't play another minute for the club, and will sell him for free if I have to.

The first game was against West Ham, and we got a 2-2 draw which I was happy with. However Silvio got a red card just after half time, and I think if he didn't get sent off, we would have gone on to win. Then we had a 2-0 defeat against Man United in the FA Cup which I didn't care about, and I played a rotated side. We then played Watford, and I was quietly confident. However Ogo Obi on their team completely tore us a new one, with a hat trick. Mamadu Bobo Mane also scored, but it meant nothing. We got a very important win against Swansea, in the best game of our season. They went ahead early, but Jose Pinto scored from a corner, and Mauro, the 19 year old, scored his first goal for the club, after a uninspiring start. This win shot us up two spots and was very important we did win at least one game this month however Bobo Mane and Lorenzo Insigne both got injuries. We played Manchester United for the second time this month, however I fielded a stronger side, but it was to no avail as they beat us. Karim Bellarabi scored a rare goal in the game. Finally, we played a strong Liverpool side and grabbed a very creditable draw. Mauro scored again, which is great in the absence on Bobo Mane.

The League Table

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/KgF63S89hQ4i2zq5pOK5ONUSV261sojbVdIB0pL3.png

We still sit one place above the relegation zone, but only this time it's by one point, but from 17th to 14th is only separated by 3 points. All we need is a run of 2 or 3 wins and we will be in significantly less trouble.

The Squad

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/RHSjkQcDUxaUHjjrXLEGTx3JHXdqwYZFjX7RI6fY.png

The squad's general form has improved slightly. The only other change is Jamie Noyes is back in the U21s, and Diego, has returned from the loan spell, to take the 3rd goalkeeper spot.

The Star Man

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/Ak524P7OkZ19gKnsxcLVt9frqkA7MzUCuA4hJNBY.png

Mauro has been a rotation option since he arrived, but he has surpassed Joe Dodoo, in terms of quality, so has been given more of a chance to prove himself. He eventually took his chance and once he got his illusive first goal, he doubled his tally, so I have full confidence in him to continue scoring.

The Upcoming Fixtures

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/o9szjBcNErQROSoGhPPqQ1UWpsAUBSCowksli3UB.png

We have to take this opportunity. We have three games to start with which are very difficult, however the next four could define our season. Derby, Bournemouth and QPR, all around us in the league, and I want to beat Bournemouth and QPR without a doubt and maybe snatch a win against Derby. Should all this go to plan, I expect we will perform well against Norwich and should have enough in us to stay up.

Within a matter a weeks after coming out and saying he wants to stay, he is back at it again. This time he spoke to the media, saying how we had a 'row' about how I refused him a move. But as you can see here I was actively looking to get rid of him for whatever price. Even for £500, nobody wanted him. I had no other option other then to release him to stop his whinging. Victor Moses also complained to the media, so I released him too

What a month! If we stay up, this month will be the one I look back on as the one that did it for us. Anyway, we started with a narrow 1-0 defeat to Spurs, but followed it up with a 2-1 victory over league leaders, Chelsea. Mauro scored again, and Joe Dodoo ended his goal drought. A ridiculous result, and one that shows we do have the quality to stay up. We then got our first consecutive victories this season, as we beat Leicester 2-1. They were 5th at the time, so it is another incredible result. Lorenzo Insigne capitalized on a defensive mishap to draw us level. Oliveira scored late on to secure another important victory. However we lost, again, to Derby County. They are having a very impressive season, so it's not too disappointing. We then had one of the most exciting games of the season, and also one of the most important. If we were to lose to Bournemouth, the two wins previous would then be cancelled out and we would be back to 17th. We went 1-0 up, and had the chance to go 2-0 up but Bobo Mane missed a crucial penalty... However they eventually scored, and looked the more dominant. They had two disallowed goals from our former player, Idrissa Sambu. I brought on Kevin Akpoguma at centre back, and he gave away a penalty and Sambu eventually got his goal. Rodrigo Dourado also had a goal disallowed for offside, and I thought it just wasn't going to be our day. But Oliveira scored a few minutes after, and we were drawing. A draw still wouldn't be enough. Then in the 91st minute, Rodrigo Bentancur scored an incredible long range shot, and secured the win. Unfortunately, we were unable to beat 19th placed QPR, but as I said in the last update, if we can carry the good form into the Norwich game, I knew we could win, and we did. Familiar scorers Oliveira and Bobo Mane got the goals. In this game, I gave a debut to the the first youth product since I joined, Ian Harling. The 17-year old got a 10 minute run out, and even played a part in Mane's goal.

The League Table

After a very successful couple of months, we have shot up to 14th. As you can see, Newcastle and QPR are having a really torrid time, and are almost definitely relegated. Also Derby County are having an incredible season and are only 3 points off Champions League football. They haven't really strengthened too much and kept a lot of the players from last year. They have a player, called Rob Hall, who is about as good as Ben Marshall, stats-wise, but is starting and having an incredible season, at 29. Wouldn't be suprised to see him get an England call-up. But we should stay up but it's definitely not over yet.

The Squad

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/qgpzZ0u9rBMYSFVrIQFotswp3uUA4s5i69Vudtdx.png

One of the main reason Kim Jin-Su's situation annoyed me so much was because almost all of the squad are 'unhappy with a treatment of a teammate' which is ridiculous, I have offered him out for £500 and did it almost every week. Glad to see the back of him. I decided to move Rodrigo Dourado forward to DM and Claudinei Rech to centre back. When Dourado is capable of playing centre back, I will be swapping them over.

The Star Man

Rodrigo Bentancur is the star man, simply for that winner against Bournemouth. Is always a consistent performer and has been since he joined on loan last year.

We need to beat Sheffield Wednesday definitely. Man City, Arsenal and Everton are next, and I want 1 point from these. But the final 3 games, especially the last two are easily winnable. I want at least 2 wins and a draw from them. If this happens, there is no doubt in my mind that we will stay up.

In the first game against Congo, we lost 2-0. I didn't really care as I rotated the side, however we got 3 more injuries, in that one game. Simon Taylor, the centre back, Gareth Bale, and Joe Allen all got injured. Joe Allen and Simon Taylor, I guess, bumped heads, as they both got 'bruised head' injuries in the 45th minute. Gareth Bale is 2 away from the 100 cap mark, but he is retiring from football at the end of the year, so I am not sure he will get there, sadly. And as if our injuries couldn't get any worse, the player I called up to replace Louis Thompson, also got an injury. But more importantly, it is another central midfielder out. Anyway, for the first game in our qualifiers, we played Slovenia. I went into it expecting a win, but they took the lead early. Then we got, apparently, a controversial penalty, which Aaron Ramsey scored. Then Jay Dasilva scored his first goal for Wales with an incredible free kick. George Williams then added to our two goal lead, and I thought the game was won. I brought on the replacement to the replacement to the replacement, Josh Sheehan, for his debut and it went downhill from there. They got two late goals and earned a 3-3 draw. I was disappointed and expected the fans to share the same disappointment, however it was completely the opposite. They were suprisingly pleased with a 3-3 draw at Slovenia. Apparently the squad reacted positively to it as well.

The Squad

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/SSai9NEPN2EXhrVUTd5qsgaop8O44gGTE27PfHNc.png

An injury-ridden squad. But the injuries did highlight the fact that we have a lack of central midfielders. I also got this news article about Karl Darlow. It made me think that I should probably give the youngster, Adam Pryzbek a go, but he is averaging worse than Darlow, at 6.12. He can wait.

The Replacements

Michael Doughty - Was called up to replace Louis Thompson. Not very experienced at international level with only 2 caps before the DR Congo game. Did well when he came on and was in line to start the Slovenia game

Liam O'Neil - Was called up to replace Joe Allen. Is a versatile player, and was in the frame before I joined. I have dropped him since, but he has moved from Leeds, probably for more game time so will probably be in it a more often.

Paul Dummett - Called up to replace Simon Taylor. Not a natural centre back, but will do. He didn't play in either game, so it doesn't really matter.

Ceri Murphy - Called up to replace Gareth Bale. As I said earlier, Bale is retiring at the end of the season, so I don't know if he'll get to 100 caps, but when he does, he won't be good enough for Wales anymore. Anyway Ceri Murphy is a decent backup, and will probably be the one to replace Bale once he has gone

Josh Sheehan - Called up to replace the replacement, Michael Doughty. Came on as a sub against Slovenia at 3-1 up, for 15 minutes to make his debut. In the last 15 minutes, Slovenia came back to draw. I'm not saying it's his fault - but it probably is.

We start our season-defining month, with a must win game against Sheffield Wednesday, which we do win, 3-1. Bobo Mane, Bryan Heynen and Lorenzo Insigne were the goalscorers. The next 3 games were losses unfortunately. We start off with a 4-3 defeat to Manchester City, but to score 3 at the Etihad is great news. We then get another narrow loss this time against Arsenal. It was a very even game and could have gone either way. For the Everton game we were not in it, and Everton were deserved victors. We then had a game against West Brom; a game which could mean we stay in the Premier League with 2 games to go...

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/Fp03A0j2JvcwaGoZXoXXKIz8IiyjSgz5QfehPd5D.png

... and we have done it! Survival complete with two games to spare.

Yes, we did survive, and we beat West Brom, 2-1, with Bobo and Oliveira the scorers. One player who particularly enjoyed it was MoMo, who, like Simon Taylor, celebrated by growing a beard and then shaving it off immediately. The next two games were irrelevant, but with Mane looking for the golden boot, he was going to start both games. He scored twice in the 2-1 victory against Newcastle and another 1 against Stoke. There was another debut for a youth prospect, Russell Greene made his debut at centre midfield

We finished the season in 14th, which is very pleasing, considering we were flirting with relegation for a while. Newcastle make an immediate return to the Championship whilst QPR and West Brom also go down. Watfor and Leicester get Europa League football, and the normal Manchester United, Chelsea, Manchester City and Arsenal (staying true to form and finishing in 4th) get Champions League football. Man United completed a treble by winning the Capital One Cup and the FA Cup. Derby were the overperformers, as they got the the final of the FA cup and finished 7th in their first season back.

Mamadu Bobo Mane wins the golden boot! He's been incredible, definitely worth the £19m we payed for him. He held off competition from Man United's Aboubakar and Chelsea's Lukaku. Without him, we'd be down, for sure. In other areas, Player of the Year winner, Raheem Sterling came second in the average rating charts. Motero coming first and Mario Fernandes finishing the top 3. Sterling also tops the assists charts and PoM charts. Finally, the now Chelsea legend, Thibaut Courtois topped the clean sheets charts.

The Final Squad

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/GTiqP3VbXrrVwHEJYTQZCD3O05xXyYhZRztgBJ87.png

These are the final stats for the whole squad. The end of season form is shown by the increase in average ratings. Also, there is only one player, currently, I will be looking to shift on, should I stay, and that is Gonzalo Escalante. Has been a great servant to the club, but has declined very rapidly, and now is not really needed anymore.

End of Season Player Stats

Obviously, Bobo Mane is the top scorer with 22 goals, and as a result, has the highest average rating of 7.43, both of which are incredible for a team in 14th. The assists were the disappointing part of our team, with 3 players joint on 6 assists; Patrick Roberts, Victor and Lorenzo Insigne. Podstawski has the highest pass accuracy, but didn't play much so it doesn't mean much. Bobo Mane unsurprisingly wins the most PoM awards. The two people who were the 'worst disciplined' were Victor and Silvio. Victor only got 7 yellows, which is fine, but Silvio got 2 reds in not many games which is disappointing, adding to his injury problems makes it worse.

End of Season Awards

Rodrigo Bentancur wins the fans player of the year, slightly surprisingly, ahead of Mane. He also wins goal of the season. Bobo Mane obviously wins signing of the season and young player of the season.

Potential Transfers Out

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/ZMGYyjVQVdcAWn5aT6wbgKgIAoxPQJ62XS9f3s2Y.png

Firstly, Rodrigo Bentancur has asked if he can speak to Barcelona. Not much I can do but say accept it, unfortunately

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/AI7sMmrcX4Tue09VY5VzfvsTntz4lAIVa4bK30PS.png

Bryan Heynen also has interest from Barcelona, and I responded in the same way.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/cAZn2s5u7H8ePk1PG00WgzGMKeGJfevnUQz8FTeX.png

Finally, the most serious one; Oliveira has interest from PSG. Not surprised to be honest, he is the best player in the team, in terms of stats. And unfortunately...

...It was out of my hands....

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/de5ixNZZHtgkHuRwdK2dVLGKzC9s8TrSslNRvw1R.png

He leaves to PSG, for £36m, as it matches his release clause. And just like that, we are a world class player down.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/PjjVDgtz4uAfc4TQUsuTGTmhoyjehhxwvDR4kbpT.png

However with around £100m to spend, we should have enough to replace him

So I did decide to step down. I felt I needed a new challenge, and I wanted to manage somewhere I haven't properly managed before. But adding to that, the fact that four of my players came to me asking to leave the club to join teams like Barcelona and PSG, I felt it wasn't worth staying another year to rebuild from the players leaving. I also want to be in a continental competition again. So, after two and a half years in Cardiff, I stepped down. I also, on a selfish level, wasn't really enjoying the Wales job, so I stepped down from there too. I'm not sure if it is a good thing, but after I left, 7 of my staff members followed me to the exit.

The Journeyman - Looking for a job

https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/pt/0/0a/Fenerbah%C3%A7e_SK_logo.png

There were a lot of job offers from English clubs; I had one from Swansea, which was tempting, and several others from Championship and League 1 clubs. I obviously declined them all as I wanted to move abroad. The first job I went for was - the Fenerbahce job. The Turkish giants were without a manager and I really wanted to go there, having never managed there before. I applied and sure enough, they offered me an interview But, it obviously wasn't meant to be, as the chose Jose Morais as their new manager. Back to the drawing board.

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/d/d2/Grasshoppers_Club_Z%C3%BCrich_Logo.svg/320px-Grasshoppers_Club_Z%C3%BCrich_Logo.svg.png

The next job I went for was the Grasshopper Zurich. They're one of my favourite foreign teams in real life, so thats what immediately appealed to me. I applied, got the interview, but this time, they offered me a contract. However I wasn't sure, as there was one club that also really interested me...

https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/pt/thumb/6/68/Flamengo_escudo.svg/375px-Flamengo_escudo.svg.png

...And that team was Flamengo (or Flemish as it is in the game). Another powerhouse in their nation. Their league is already 12 games in, and they're underperforming. But, other than not managing in Brazil since FM14, the other thing that appealed to me, was the amount of wonderkids coming through their ranks. I signed a lot of Brazilian wonderkids when I was at Cardiff, so to see their progression before they make the step up to somewhere like Cardiff, for example, will be interesting

I decided to go with Flamengo, just mainly down to the sheer quality in the squad, in comparison to Grasshoppers. Also, as I mentioned before, they have so many talented youngsters, which I haven't had at many of the clubs I have been to. They are currently in 9th, and are expected to finish towards the top.

The Squad

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/xuE9GqPxL7d4XdtOSnTN2hpmAyw2kmbvAQl79OgI.png

Thiago is our number one keeper, and Paulo Victor is number two. Paulo Victor is retiring after nearly 20 years at the club, so I will definitely be looking to bring him in as part of the backroom staff

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/1zJoiFWa5XsLPWSgNF71r1dV8Iq7gY3ZCod65yiv.png

The starting centre back pairing is going to be Watson Rennio and Leandro, who are both 22. These are two of the wonderkids, who will probably get snapped up soon. Ricardo Mauricio is 3rd choice and Lucas Mendes(formerly of Marseille), is 4th choice. We also have Mauricio (formerly of Lazio) as 5th choice but he is also retiring at the end of the year. The starting right back is Daniel Guedes and backup to him is Roni. We also have Humberto Ayala out on loan, and he will probably become back up to Roni next year. At left back we have Lorran as the number one and Henrique as backup. Geferson is 3rd choice but I will be looking to move him on as we dont need him and he is on high wages. Lucas Mendes can also fill in there. Douglas and Bruno look like very promising youngsters, whilst we also have a player called David Luiz and another called Dude.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/I2P2xUspHRNVsDZCz2XfNUNJpuqBtlsvgGo8SJNw.png

Next is defensive midfielders and wing backs (not that we're playing with wing backs). The starting defensive midfielder is going to be Joao Afonso. We have plenty of backup in this position. For wing backs we have Aleluia and Renaldo who are out on loan who will both come into the first team next year. Luiz Henrique looks like the most promising youngster on this page, but is more likely to feature as a winger instead of a right back.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/PH6y3sdxVQgeMGUbQuMyjmxeQRoobVr8dMXgW1NE.png

We then have our two man central midfield. Ricardo Goulart(formerly of Guangzhou Evergrande and Wolfsburg) will start along side 19 year old Clecio. We have Roni, Flavio and Romulo as backups, Romulo is in on loan from Fenerbahce. Also club legend Federico Mancuello can play there, and is a very technically gifted player, but is declining rapidly at 34. Alex Sandro and Rodriguinho stand out as the most promising young players, but there are plenty to chose from.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/VnlMlGLfRmF01uLWQmaqePqNYVCZGna6KfaFSGvy.png

The wingers are a position that we are worryingly short of. However the starting right winger is Willian (formerly of Chelsea and Inter Milan) and at the moment, the left winger is Lorran, however I am looking for a new starting left winger, in the final week of the transfer window. Ronald, Azul and Thales Natanael are the most promising, particularly Azul, who will feature in the first team this year

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/gB9JpmfowSL2HcvHxbXveNHL69i1xghrr8IUZLlE.png

Finally, the strikers. We have an abundance of good quality strikers. Joelinton(formerly of Hoffenheim) will start, as he is the leading goalscorer thus far, Bruno Gomes will be the very capable back up, and Felipeinho will be 3rd choice who is a very talented 19 year old. We also have Richarlison, who the club signed this year despite being a 4th choice, and Jose Roberto, who, unfortunately, be the first victim of the many strikers and probably be sold in the near future, although only being 22.

Potential Key Players

Leandro - The 22 year old is a very good talent, and the best centre back at the club. Wouldn't be surprised seeing him go to a bigger club soon.
Ricardo Goulart - Was the star man at Guangzhou for many years, before making the move to Wolfsburg where things didn't work out for him. He is 32, which is working against him, and is the highest earner, so he might end up leaving at the end of his contract. But will be a solid player for the years he has left
Joelinton - Joelinton. It sounds like an English full name. Anyway, he is still only 26, and has 22 goals so far this season. Gremio are interested in him, but he will be the key man in terms of goals, but if he doesn't perform, we always have Bruno Gomes, who is on par with him.

Transfer Out

Geferson - The 3rd choice left back, on £30k p/week. Was transfer listed before I joined, so I sold him to Bahia for £150k
Thiago - Our first choice goalkeeper, Thiago, left to Sporting Lisbon for £4m. He has been at the club for a while, but we did well to get £4m for him.

Transfers In

Boschilla - Didn't have a left winger at the club, so I needed to bring one in. Boschilla came in from relegated Newcastle for £6.5m, which is quite an expensive transfer but hopefully he'll prove his worth.
Xuxa - With Thiago was leaving to Portugal we needed a new first choice keeper, and it was Xuxa. Not sure how you'd pronounce it but we brought him in from Corinthians for £7.75m

My first game in Brazil got of to the best possible start with a 4-1 win over Atletico Paranaense. Joelinton, Clecio and Willian scored, as well as an OG. Next was a very disappointing 0-0 against relegation threatened CA Bragantino. They looked to defend from the off. The next game against Santos, hinged on a red card. It was 2-1 to Santos, and they were coasting, but then they got a red card on 28 minutes, and Joelinton, decided he wanted to score. And he did. Four times. But he then got an injury which keeps him out of action for 2-3 weeks. Flavio also scored, and he is a player who has scored 11 goals so far from central midfield, and is our second top goalscorer. The first game out August was against a struggling Botafogo. They took the lead, but Willian got a knock, so I brought him off at half time, and Clayton came on. He repaid the team, by scoring twice and winning us the game. We then got two decent draws against Cruzeiro and Palmeiras who were both around us when we played them. Ricardo Goulart and Clecio were the scorers. We then slumped to two disappointing defeats to two teams we should definitely be beating. The first was a 2-1 defeat to Avai, and Richarlison scored, having come off the bench as a substitute due to injuries. The second, Joelinton scored his first since returning from injury. However this was in the cup, so although we should have won against Sport Recife, we still got a crucial away goal. The next game was a bore draw at home to Internacional, a game we should have won, and finally, the return leg against Sport Recife, which we won 3-0 which sends us through to the quarter finals. Clecio, Joelinton and Willian were the goal scorers.

The League Table

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/C6ltNjYfm3erp20XYup7CzkbTj9fbwbLHE2LtX4l.png

Here is the first league table of the season. Unfortunately we only managed to climb one place since taking over, despite the impressive 5-2 win over 2nd placed Santos, however the league is very close with only 6 points seperating 11th placed Atletico Paranaense and 4th placed Fluminense. Had we of won against Internacional, we would have been 5th, and whats even more disappointing is if we had of beaten Avai, we would be 3rd. We can't afford to slip up.

The Squad

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/YoU66z1hHl4GtOj2sVr18lgi99MvtuqPmRmW6QoL.png

Here we can see the squad. I decided to loan out Azul, just to get him more gametime, but I may call him back. It also shows that 2nd choice striker, Bruno Gomes is struggling for goals, which is not great, and I may consider playing Richarlison ahead of him, as he has more goals in less appearances. Also, Boschillia isn't having as big of an impact as I'd hoped, only getting 1 assist and no goals in 9 games. However I can't really complain as he is not a natural at left wing, and he does have the 3rd highest average rating in the team.

The Star Man

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/bHGzJ8D9nQK2nmAMlx9LH4HGEgjRtd9OtdfWME53.png

Joelinton. The leading goalscorer. He has 29 goals so far this season, and is by far our 'go-to' man in terms of goals. I also made him a new picture, as the old one wasn't great, but I have again replaced this one with another better cut-out from the cut-out thread. Anyway, he has 7 goals in these games, despite missing a few through injury. He is still only 26 as well, so plenty of time to develop.

Charles - The best of the lot, very promising and will no doubt be playing for some big European club soon
Ronaldo Luis - Another very good youngster, is weak for a centre back, but is only 15 so it is expected.
Tutinho - Hopefully will be pacey when he is older and will be a very solid left winger

Looks like my philosophies have got through to the team. For the first game, we got a crucial 3-0 away win over Bahia, who are our main rivals in the table. They scored an OG mid-way through the first half, then the game went stale, that is until I brought on a left winger called Rincon, for his debut. 10 minutes into his debut, the 22 year old slotted away the chance, with Joelinton sealing the deal late on. We then got revenge on Sport Recife for the original loss with a 4-0 victory, Flavio getting another 2 goals from centre midfield, Joelinton also getting on the scoresheet as well as Leandro, the centre back, who grabbed his first goal for the club. The next game was against Joinville, who we demolished. It could have been worse than 5-0, but they got lucky. Boschillia got his first goal for the club, luckily, but the star of the show as he has been many times so far, was Joelinton, who grabbed another 4 goals, however this time he didn't get injured which is always nice. He is ridiculous. We then had relegation threatened Cricuima. Somehow they went 4-1 up relatively quickly from barely any chances, and it was becoming embarrassing. For a team who have been struggling to get wins all season, they seemed like a team fighting for the title. I went on overload in the 65th minute and it paid off. Clayton scored, and Goulart added to it 3 minutes later. Joelinton grabbed a brace in the game, with his second securing the draw. How they managed to score 4 in the first place was a mystery. We put the disappointment behind us as we beat Sao Paulo 2-0, Clecio and Clayton scoring. Finally, we played ABC FC. One of the best names in football, but their name didn't help them. We cruised to a 4-1 victory, despite a shaky start. Clayton got 2, and Joelinton got his 38th goal of the season. The 4th goal was a comical OG. They were running down the clock, and passing it around the back, their keeper received it, looked to lump it down field, only for it to hit the centre back in front of him in the face and go in.

The League Table

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/Iy4pOndXB9TTG4agNs3AgapMEvVbhFJL6GnW0dxK.png

We have shot up the table into 3rd, however Fluminense, Bahia and Corinthians are all close, so we can't afford to slip up like we have done at least twice already this season. To be in third after being in 9th when I took over is a great achievement, and if we stay here, we'll be getting continental football, which is what I want. 2nd place is definitely not unattainable, although Palmeiras are a very good side. Atletico Mineiro look like they'll win the league, but I obviously hope they don't.

The Squad

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/CNYmGfd2Vsxij2KqSagYlGF0fkiGy6bA0IZvBaO4.png

There have been several new youngsters who I have promoted from the reserves into the senior squad, all of which are at the bottom. Bruno Gomes has requested to leave which I am not bothered about, as he isn't very good, and Joelinton is ridiculous anyway. Richarlison has also asked for more gametime, which he is unlikely to get as long as Joelinton is in the team. Finally, one thing I didn't notice before is, Xuxa is Brazil's number one keeper, which, although is good for him, is not good for us as he will miss games travelling, and has done once already.

The Star Man

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/M5sRv4ke5H7ztLXwmgCRc7eWwoJCxX5ssFoSwlA3.png

Was injured when I arrived so Willian got the starting spot. But with Willian being 34 going on 35, and therefore declining pretty quickly, I gave Clayton a go. He has scored 8 goals, got 7 assists and has a 7.94 average rating from 16 games. It would be Joelinton obviously, but then it would be him everytime. Willian is also the highest earner on £56k p/week, so may look to sell him soon.

Upcoming Fixtures

This month will either make or break our season. We must beat Gremio, and Nautico, who are in the division below, in the quarter finals. Then an important game against Fluminense, which could decide whether we finish in a continental spot or not. Then we have Atletico Miniero and we have the chance to make real ground on them. Finally two must win games against Vasco, and Atletico Paranaense.

This particular staff signing has a bit of a unfortunate back story to it. Darko Lazovic was 26/27 and I was scouting him when I was a Seoul, but he moved to Genk, instead, understandably. But this was, already, his fourth transfer of the save having only played 14 games in 5 years at 4 different clubs. He then, while at Genk, failed to make an appearance in 2 years, making it 3 years since he had stepped onto a football pitch, for no fault of his own. He then moved to Metz and then again to Amien. And 3 years later he retired an I obviously signed him. But he made 53 appearances in 10 years, and that is upsetting especially considering he was quite promising during his first move to Genoa. Anyway, he eventually signed with me, but as a fitness coach.

A very strange month began with a 3-2 injury time victory over Gremio. Left back Lorran scored twice, and centre back Gaston Heredia scored in the 89th minute from a corner. However somehow, despite them being in the division below, and us flying high in the top division, we got a draw, 1-1, at home to Nautico, with out goal coming through an OG, however they scored in the game, and the significance of that is the away goal. So technically, we lost that game. We then had a game against top of the table Fluminense, who somehow, have gone on a ridiculously good run, and found themselves in 1st. But anyway, Joelinton scored in the 30th minute, but we were being dominated. Then, out of nowhere, Roni, the backup right back, got a red card, but there was no highlight for it at all, and it came directly after the goal highlight had finished. So I had no other option other than to defend, and thats what we did. 5 at the back, 2 DMs, Willian and Joelinton up top and go on contain. I know it's boring, but it worked, as we snatched a point, but should have won if Roni hadn't got sent off. We then played Nautico again, and drew 1-1 again. So it went to penalties. The first 3 were saved, 2 of which were ours, obviously, so we lost. We're out at the quarter final stage against the easiest opponents we could have asked for. But the team responded with an emphatic 3-0 away victory against 2nd placed Atletico Mineiro. Goulart, Joelinton and Clayton were the goalscorers on a fairly routine victory against one of the better teams in the league. We then had a game against relegation threatened Vasco, and we won 2-0, pretty easily. Goulart, again, scoring and Joelinton was the other. The final game of the month was against Atletico Paranaense, and we, yet again, won 2-0. Boschillia and Heredia scored rare goals.

After a successful couple of months, we now find ourselves at the dizzy heights of 2nd, 1 point behind the leaders, but only one goal ahead of Mineiro. The top 3 have pulled away slightly from the rest with a 8 point gap between 3rd and 4th. Palmeiras and particularly Santos have really fallen away having been in 2nd and 3rd, but now are in 6th and 11th

The Squad

The problems with having such a big squad, is sharing the gametime equally, without needlessly dropping players who are in form. Bruno Gomes, Richarlison and Felipinho have all requested to move as a result of Joelinton's form. Gomes I have persuaded to stay, although it wouldn't be a big miss if he did leave, Richarlison has asked to leave indefinitely, and Felipinho has gone on loan to Liga de Quito in Ecuador. Henrique, the 3rd choice left back has also gone on loan there, and Lucas Mendes the 2nd choice left back has also asked to be loaned out, but I want to keep him here. Mauricio and Paulo Victor are retiring; Paulo Victor is becoming a goalkeeping coach after almost 450 games for the club. Finally Willian and Mancuello are the big names leaving the club at the end of the year. Mancuello has been at the club for 8 years, making around 350 appearances, but at 34 he really isn't the player he once was, and the same goes for Willian

Corinthians, Santos and Palmeiras are, probably the three most crucial games of the season. If we beat Corinthians, we put ourselves in a very strong position. Santos and Palmeiras are easier games, but they're game which could easily result in an upset. Botafogo and Bragantino are must win games, as they're both in the relegation zone. Finally Cruzeiro is another winnable game, and, hopefully, the game we lift the title.
