Notes: I decided to start again since I bought FM17, and attempt my normal career game where I try to make it to the top as a Manager. I usually fall behind in my monthly report write-ups and have to stop playing while I catch up, so decided to do a full-season round-up posts, or may break it down to smaller chunks of a few months posts - depending on how many games in the leagues of clubs I manage.

After 22 games, the league was split into 2 halves with the top 6 competing for promotion, the bottom 6 fighting against relegation. We had a relatively good season, reaching higher than we had originally hoped of making the play-offs. We remained in the top 4 of the league since game 3, with 1 drop below on game 6 before bouncing back. We reached the top spot on game 11 for a single week, but mainly stayed in 2nd place throughout before a last match result saw us leapfrog Warrenpoint who lost their final game and a draw for us against Larne saw us take top spot after 22 games of the standard season. We now have 5 Play-Off games to hold onto that top spot and possibly take automatic promotion, or at least take 2nd to fight in a Play-Off match.
We had some good results in the league, picking up an impressive 10 wins and 7 draws to help us reach the top spot. Our best result came on 27th September with a 4-2 win over P.S.N.I., where we were 2-0 up before the home side clawed it back to 2-2 before 2 goals in the dying minutes snatched a victory from a draw. Our worst defeat saw us crushed 6-0 away to Knockbreda who were dominating for the opening 10 games of the season before they crashed and burned away, and I have to take much of the blame in that game as a slight change in tactics backfired on us with Connor Corry scoring a hat-trick for Knockbreda in a 6-minute spell between 81-87 minutes as we fell apart.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
We had a poor run in the cup competitions, with the Tennent's Irish Cup seeing us fall to Knockbreda, who humiliated us in the league several months prior and returned to knock us out of the cup after a hard-fought first game and replay. We failed in our expectations of reaching the 6th Round.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Another cup defeat saw us knocked out by Premiership side Carrick, despite our good efforts in taking the match to Penalties and having the lead before conceding in the second half. We failed in our expectations of reaching the 3rd Round.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Our best cup competition came in the Coca-Cola Intermediate Cup where we reached the final and face Dungannon Reserves on 15th April. We needed extra-time in our first 4 games and a penalty shoot-out in the semi-finals saw us make the final and even see us get some sweet revenge against Knockbreda in knocking them out of the competition. Despite the boards expectations of not interested in this competition, this I feel is our best opportunity of silverware this season and could be my first trophy in the cabinet as Manager if we can overcome our opponents in the final.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
We reached the Quarter-Finals of the Mid-Ulster cup as the board expected us to, but fell short to Premiership side Portadown who were just too good for us on the day.

We made it to the top of the League after 27 games played and come away with the Championship League 1 title, for the 4th time in Loughgall's history and creating a record for the club with most championship wins. We won 3 of our final 5 games and drew 2 to clinch the title from Warrenpoint. We had two fantastic results with back-to-back 5-1 wins over Ballyclare and Dergview with Costello hitting 2 hat-tricks in a row.

15.04.2017:
Coca-Cola Intermediate Cup Final
Despite an early set-back against a very good reserve side, we bounced back in the second-half to clinch the clubs, and my own first trophy for Loughgall in my first season in charge. A penalty from McMahon, who had a tough season with an injury, and a late-late winner from Ferguson who became a reliable midfielder over the season saw us raise the trophy for the third time in the club's history. Despite the board's lack of interest in this competition, I felt after some bad cup runs in the other competitions this was a must-win trophy for us against a side we should beat and lays the groundwork for the future.
