Can we say the decisions have evened out now? Cabaye (maybe), and Mbiwa lucky to be on the pitch

Sure, in a way, but we can also surely agree that the game would've looked completely different had the goal been allowed, and that these incidents would've never happened.

Very true, but there's that old cliché about these decisions evening out over a season, these decisions just evened out within the game

Not really - the only real evening out incident would be a soft goal in our favour.

Once that first incident occurred, the game became immediately prime for a referee horror-show, which it duly has been. In a normal game, Cabaye would certainly have gone by now.

True, ref lost control as soon as he made that decision. Should've done the smart thing and not angered the home fans like the City-Liverpool offside decision

Did City have a perfectly good goal disallowed then?

Gutted for Newcastle. Deserved something from that game.

Nope, but we did have one of our best players this season put out injured for a while

City were lucky tbf, Newcastle should have probably got something out of that, but they held it off and then killed it off in injury time. Good win for them tbf

Newcastle should've scored (again) in the last 15 mins of the 1st half. They were all over us

I think frustration at not being level played into City's hands by the end, because it led to us losing focus and also led to a number of fairly needless and dumb tackles (especially the MYM one). Though we really should've taken our opportunities.

It also reinforces the need for an additional winger.

In all fairness, that frustration should really have been curbed at half time. Pardew should've settled them down and told them to play like they were leading up to the goal, instead it seemed he riled them up further (probably just to show more passion, fight for every ball harder etc. but it backfired in the end really). Everything is clearer in hindsight though obviously.

Also, apparently Pardew was accusing Nasri of playacting after that challenge by Mbiwa, lovely chap

Newcastle boss Alan Pardew on Cheick Tiote's disallowed goal: "We're in an entertainment business and the guy's hit a wonder goal that Joe Hart isn't going to save.

"I'm not thrilled with the referee's answer when I've asked for an explanation as I don't quite get how he can disallow a goal of that quality on the technical point he is using.

Its probably accurate that cooler heads may have yielded the equaliser, or at least a more measured path towards one. Sometimes injustice and aggravation at this can work as the required kick up the arse but its probably what manifested itself in the series of unnecessary fouls during the second half.

The similar mindset is also probably why Nasri was accused of playacting. Obviously he was not given how his afternoon ended, but one can't help but do something stupid while pissed off.

Mike Jones had a shocker today. He got pretty much every big decision wrong. I still can't understand how he managed to let Yanga-Mbiwa stay on the pitch.

I've noticed a few Toon fans on Twitter bringing up the incident a few years back when an idiotic de Jong tackle that didn't even get a free-kick against it broke Ben Arfa's leg into three pieces. Not sure what I think of that argument, mind...

As for this one, good goal by Charlie Adam. Decent game as well.
