Everyone quick to slate Gerrard for crying. Who cares and what difference does it make? Extremely emotional day for Liverpool. So glad with the win though. Should have been over at half time but fair play for City for the second half comeback. We rode our luck but hung on in there.

Henderson is going to be a massive loss I think, he's got an unbelievable engine + work ethic. terrible tackle + fully deserves 3 match ban. Time for Lucas/Allen to step up. Sturridge was piss poor today and Suarez seemed to retreat to the way he was a year ago - moaning and diving. Lucky to finish the game. Nevertheless, 4 more cup finals to go.

How good is Sterling though?!?! Just breezed past the City players all day long. Surely a starter for England in the WC?

Naah, not having people slating Gerrard, that is dumb.

Fucking huge win. City could have had two penalties, but Kompany on Suarez could have been one too. Plus the Sterling goal at the Etihad.
Dont care either way, won one of our biggest games in the last 20 years and thats all that matters

Seeing them in CL contention is absolutely delightful. I don't understand why everyone has to play mid-week when Man City, with one/two games in hands, needs it the most.

City haven't "broken FFP rules". The article doesn't say this at all.
I've been saying this for years but this next few months are going to be insufferable with the bollocks printed.
City have done exactly what they planned to do all along. City will initially "fail" FFP. Then they will use the June '10 wage exclusions amongst others to "pass" FFP. Nobody should be surprised about this, it's what they planned to do. You cannot use that wage exclusion or some other exclusions unless you initially "fail" FFP.
Unfortunately this means that the papers get to write the "CITY FAIL FFP" headline they've been creaming themselves over for 4 years.
We will technically fail when they do their initial calculations. Then use UEFA's exclusions to pass with no sanctions.
If you want a primer on next month's headlines, the one they'll all be furiously wanking over then will be "UEFA CONFIRM INVESTIGATION OF RELATED PARTY TRANSACTION BY CITY". People will sort of wink-nudge that this is the Etihad deal and it isn't. City will be investigated for a RPT as they legally declared a RPT in their accounts and it means UEFA have to look into it by their own rules. The Etihad deal was not reported and by the UEFA definition (which is essentially the worldwide definition), is not a related party transaction so won't see any adjustments made.
The press are going to be horrific for the next two months and I'll have to explain this four hundred million times.

City can easily argue that £35m a year sponsorship including stadium naming rights is not a tremendous "stretch" for a team constantly at the top of the most marketable league in the world. Especially if they can refer to similar deals drawn up recently by Utd, Liverpool etc.

There's nothing they can do about that deal anyway. Aside from the fact that in the current climate a deal of ~£400m over 10 years for kit sponsor, stadium naming rights, training ground naming rights and academy naming rights is reasonable, there's not really a similar to deal to compare it to. On top of that it's not a related party transaction as specified in UEFA's rules, these rules happen to be an exact reproduction of IAS 24 which are the recognised international standard for accounting. City have declared that under those definitions the Etihad deal is not a related party transaction, there's not much UEFA can actually do about it.
