Anybody know if it's possible to link my laptop to the TV via my HDMI port to stream the Liverpool-Chelsea game and have that display on the TV, but still be able to use the laptop for browsing in the meantime?

It is a preliminary verdict, true but of the original 500 odd that were originally sentenced 37 are still on death row.

Yeah, they're not actually sentenced to death.

Egyptian law states that the maximum sentence shall be put forth when the defendant is not in court. Which means yes, technically they are sentenced to death. BUT when they are captured they will then receive a proper trial during which most of them will get that sentenced lightened, depending on what they actually did.
