Which doesn't mean that a) its good to watch or b) it has a future.

I never said it was good to watch, I'm just commenting on the suggestion that Tiki-Taka is crap and that Guardiola should have known that because Barça were beaten by Bayern last year, because that's absurd.

2 seasons in a row now a team attempting to play it has been torn to shreds in a Champions League semi final and basically every team in world football knows that you can sit off a team, give them no space in behind whatsoever and then hit them on the break with pace.

That's all well and good as an idea but it's considerably harder to actually put that theory into practice successfully. Bayern and Madrid have managed it but they managed it against teams that, frankly, weren't at their best and in Bayern's case this year arguably weren't that suited to it.

I think its done at the top level.

I disagree.

We'll see how it plays out next season, because I can't see Guardiola being sacked, nor abandoning it, but even at its very best I think the warning signs were there for Tika Taka.

All the signs for how to play against Tika Taka have been there since day one, and now teams are less naive in coping with it. It was the early days when Barca were able to draw teams into a football match that was its heyday and if not for our complete and utter naivety twice against them one wonders if it might all have been a different story.

For my money the lack of a plan B is, for once, a serious criticism, because its something even Barca struggled with and were bailed out by the individual brilliance of a Messi, or Iniesta, something that most teams can't rely on, and now teams are realising that the amount of players that Tika Taka necessitates must go forward means that the team is vulnerable on the break its taking more than one moment to win games.

FWIW, I can still see Spain winning the world cup, just cant off the top of my head think of a single international team with the raw components to take them apart.

Lol I come here once a year and I get a mention

Fuck you bluemoon, you're a retard and I have no idea who the fuck are you.

@Ninja Never disliked Modric, I might have said he was a bad transfer and let's be honest, apart from that goal vs ManUtd last year(which was important of course), he didn't do anything notable. That and also the fact that Mourinho's 4-2-3-1 didn't really suit him as much as Ancelotti's 4-3-3. He is a Centre mid in Xavi's style, not a DM or an AMC.

The only person I regret not trusting is Ancelotti. He always gave me the impression of being a low impact manager, but what he did with Real is amazing. Not just that he changed the system, putting Di Maria and Modric in perfect positions for them, he also changed the mentality. Seeing Ronaldo and Bale defend at 0-2 is mind-blowing. He is also a fit for the club's image. Let's be honest, Real are a classy club. This weekend there was a total silence in the stands when they remembered Tito. That image is much more fitting to Ancelotti than to Mourinho.

I was 12 when we last played a Final. Fucking 12. So happy right now, I cannot really put it into words.

I know the CL is massive, even more so for Madrid, but would it really be an amazing season considering you'll probably lose the title to a team which was put together than less for what you bought Bale for? Or is that CL that big for Madrid that they'll forget about the league if they win the CL?

Probably the latter to be honest, a few managers who dominated domestically have been sacked for not winning the CL

He doesn't know who you are, but is still able to mentally diagnose you, apparently.

Oh, and to suggest something for Ninja, Brazil did a pretty good number on Spain in the Confederations Cup (although fatigue may have been more of a factor). I might be being a little deliberately tongue-in-cheek with this suggestion, but don't England have the components to beat Spain with counter-attacks? Welbeck, Sturridge and Rooney on the break would be pretty tasty, although I doubt Hodgson would have the tactical nous to successfully implement what would be required. We'd probably just draw 0-0 and go out on penalties.

Maybe because the 'tiki taka crap' has seen Spain and Barça win 2 European Championships, a World Cup, 2 Champion's Leagues and a handful of other trophies?

Well done for stating the obvious.

I thought it was clear that teams are finding ways to beat tiki taka, and beating them well. Bayern last season and Brazil at the Confederations Cup last summer are great examples. I think Guardiola is making a mistake by thinking that he can just use the same system all the time and carry on winning. I'm not saying he should use the exact system that Bayern used last season, but use it as a starting point and just tinker with it a bit. I guess next season will be better for them though as they'll be more familiar with the system and have Lewendowski up front.

Fair enough, I still largely disagree but I can see where you're coming from.

Bayern played a heavy possession game in the league last year. It was only in the CL where Jupp really went for the fast counter attacks. Bayern average possession last season was 58%, this season it's 61%, not a massive increase.

I reckon a lot of teams will be playing cautious, slow football during this World Cup tbh mainly because of the heat. Cant see many teams making it through the whole thing playing aggressive athletic and powerful football, not unless they have 23 world class players to keep it fresh. So i can still see Spain doing very well with the way they play.

Germany easily have the best squad. They have to do it surely. I think my predictor gave me a Germany - Spain final.

Yeah, only once Madrid went down to 10 men. But when it mattered most, in the cup final, Madrid won.

Not sure why you would criticize someone for not celebrating in any case to be fair

Hope Atletico get an early second half goal and park a bus. Would give me satisfaction.
