Well thats where we are in agreement, and why I really can't see either you or Liverpool being seriously bothered by his 'availability' he's an improvement on Arteta these days, but its a come down compared to being linked to a Bender.

The fact that multiple newspapers are reporting on it at the same time makes me think it's his agent trying to increase pressure on Manchester City to offer him a big pay rise.

bluemoon, do you reckon Milner could be trained into working as effective defensive midfielder?

If we are in for him that's what Wenger might have in mind.

LOAN HIM IN PARDEW LOAN HIM IN.

loved milner when he was here.

I think he's the kind of winger Pardew wants - defensively minded but can be decent in attack. Personally I felt he was better at Newcastle than he is at Citeh.

Call me cynical, but the timing stinks of him thinking that his new found quota related importance, his age, and contract status means he should be earning more money.

Can't see him leaving, especially not to Arsenal or Liverpool who aren't particularly natural fits.

Can understand why you'd come to that conclusion. That said, Daniel Taylor, who's usually bang-on with his City stuff, wrote in his piece that Milner told City he wants to leave last month (and that he also wants to be play in central midfield) which would slightly go against that theory. Neither outcome would particularly surprise me though, even if he wants to stay at City it makes sense for him to go down this route.

I think he'd make a serviceable defensive midfielder but not much of a step-up from Arteta. He's tenacious, hard-working and pretty good defensively but it's not his natural role - and that's his problem generally, he's good at a lot of things but he doesn't have a natural role. Frankly for a defensive midfielder it'd make more sense to sign Gareth Barry (if you want a City player), he's better at it.

Yaya is so upset he’s thinking of leaving City.

There are a number of things that have happened that have left Yaya feeling bitterly upset. He must concentrate on the World Cup now.

But City have treated him with disrespect and have really hurt him.

They don’t know that money can’t buy relationships, no Sheikh can buy a relationship.

This isn’t about money or a new contract, it’s about human relationships and City have shown they don’t respect him.

I repeat, this is not about money. In fact, he would take less to return to Barcelona.

Mm. Probably.

Did read an article about Yaya though and his agent certainly seems less cunt-ish then some of them out there. Presuming he's still with the same one he was with as a young player that is.

Barca link seems a bit weird, why would he return to a club where he wasn't valued that highly before?

Not news. His agent did this exact same routine last year only for Yaya to come out and say he had no intention of leaving, and then sign a new contract.

I like how City fans just try to dismiss anything negative with the club

1. Everyone does it.
2. bluemoon's almost certainly right on this one, apparently BBC are saying that its because City didn't wish him happy birthday!

They did post on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram though about his birthday.

They also got him a cake and sang feckin' Happy Birthday to him:

Yaya was very angry last week. He's always angry when it seems like his team mates don't have the same ambition. He has always had a winning mentality and has been disposed to fight against whoever it may be – players, fans or coaches – if he feels like they don't have the same goal.

-- May 2011
Toure has done all he can do at City and needs new motivations. He would like a new challenge. He would not cost much. He could sign for many big clubs, like Chelsea or Bayern Munich. We would like to see Barcelona join the race.

-- May 2012
I do not feel he will stay at City. This is not about money. He wants to leave because of many reasons." "He is one of the best players at Manchester City but does not feel the respect of the staff. Only Roberto Mancini respects Yaya.

-- March 2013

So I think bluemoon is allowed to just "dismiss" this

Aye, was a shocker

Craig Gardner's agent tells BBC Sport the 27-year-old midfielder has been given a free transfer by Sunderland and has spoken to "one or two clubs" including West Brom.

Yaya Toure's agent says Manchester City's attempt to mark the midfielder's birthday with a tweet was "a joke".

City gave Toure a birthday cake as they flew to Abu Dhabi and tweeted their congratulations after he turned 31.

But Dimitri Seluk says Toure is "very upset" that the club's owners failed to acknowledge him personally and says he may leave over their lack of respect.

"He got a cake but when it was Roberto Carlos's birthday, the president of Anzhi gave him a Bugatti," Seluk said

"I don't expect City to present Yaya with a Bugatti, we only asked that they shook his hand and said 'we congratulate you'. It is the minimum they must do when it is his birthday and the squad is all together.

"It is an important human relationship to shake hands and say 'happy birthday' but nobody did it to Yaya. It shows they don't care about him..

Super disappointed in Cole leaving. He's been a tremendous player for us since he joined and would have loved to have seen him stay for another season or two. Kinda hope he ends up playing abroad and not at another EPL side.

Genuinely think the higher ups at Chelsea have got this wrong letting him go.

Wouldn't surprise me.

There's strong links of Liverpool and Real Madrid wanting him, along with a move to the MLS also.

I'm not having a dig at the City guys, but they do dismiss a lot. Like the whole FFP shit, all the talk of them being fine etc. Now this is a none story. Saying that, it most definitely is a story, how rude to not wish him happy birthday. Sickening.

I would take Cole here, still a very good player. Doubt he'll come though

The club also shared that view, hardly the fans fault

Also, I know you're being sarcastic, but I posted a video above showing City presenting him with a cake and singing Happy Birthday

Well yeah, but you wasn't exactly right in saying you'll be fine? I know the punishment isn't too bad, but it's definitely a little bit of a problem for the club.

Poor Yaya.

But the club were also convinced we were fine, so it's not like we just blindly defended it. The CL squad limit is the worst part of the punishment (rumours are it can't be enforced, but that's just probably shite)

Or like dismissing that one of your players racially abused someone, even after he'd actually been done for it. It was shocking when the City fans did that...
