I'd hate it if such a likeable player went to that lot.

I'd love it!

Why do you want Lallana? Eriksen is just as good, if not better.

I thought Lallana plays on the left?

3 narrow AMC's could work great with Dembele Lallana and Eriksen.

Nah, i'd much rather have Dembele's strength and ball retention next to Sandro. Maybe Sigurdsson could play in the three, he is doesn't get anywhere near as much game time as he should.

I think Paulinho will come good though, and him and Sandro will be a good partnership.

Players need time to settle in.

Very happy with the Lambert deal. Now to move on and sign a left back.

Dembele would be deeper with Lamela in that. Would be a top trio

Lambert is a good signing for Liverpool, gives them a plan B

It gives them the option to lump the ball up top. They've already got a better plan B and they play better football than that.

It's not a bad deal at the £4m that's being quoted and it makes sense for all parties but he provides little more than squad depth, undoubtedly a better option than Aspas but a big step down on targets like Costa from last season.

Costa was always going to be a replacement for Suarez if we lost him, no way we'd have had both players to choose from

Lambert isn't really a good target man, his strength lies in holding the ball up

I'm not sure how this Lambert fella, who's played in a quick, attacking team is going to fit into our quick, attacking team. I presume we'll just use him as a plan B and lump the ball to him.

I was under the impression you were using plan B in the traditional English sense of lumping the ball when going gets tough.

I.e 'that Barcelona are shite, they lack a Plan B'

It was that I was actually disagreeing with.

Nah, just a plan B other than constant movement and attacking. Someone to hold the ball up and slow things down up top, who is also handy at set pieces

I don't really think that's it. I doubt Liverpool want to ever slow things down when they've become a decent side again on the back of playing with real pace.

It's more the case of a player who is cheap, has a realiable goal scoring record, will be happy with being back up and add depth with them playing on another front next season.

I think signing Lambert will be a good business for Liverpool, especially for the reported £4m fee. They don't need a starter given the quality of Sturridge and Suarez and Lambert will offer them something a bit different. He's certainly a better option than Aspas who has never looked good enough.

Sabatini: Benatia will only leave for €61m.

Honestly, in a world where David Luiz goes for €50m, I agree with that valuation.

Our hunt for a centre-back is becoming slightly farcical. I think I'd just pay Garay's release clause at this point.

The Mirror are saying that both David Villa and Frank Lampard are signing for City's MLS team New York City FC. The Manchester Evening News ran with the David Villa half of that story this afternoon, and have a picture of him at the Bridgewater Hospital in Manchester today:

Even if we don't sign him we still get up to half of the transfer fee, win either way really.
