Before this batch of sales they owed ~£27m in transfer fees.

They owed money on transfers but so do alot of clubs people would consider rich.

Southampton should be pretty safe to stay up, even with all the sales. I think it's pretty much a foregone conclusion that Burnley and Leicester will get relegated and teams like Aston Villa are looking much worse than Southampton.

They also had a £30m bill on a training ground re-dev and were in a 'difficult' position according to a new director.

Also doubtful how committed the Liebherr's actually are anymore.

The point is they had debts that they had to pay.

West Brom look pretty terrible too.

That's probably the most important thing. Katherina Liebherr's shown little to suggest that she's as committed to the club's success as her dad and Cortese were.

Aye I think Leicester will stay up, even if £10million for Troy Deeney looks like strange business. Though while I think they will stay up, I think they will be in the battle to avoid the drop.

I do enjoy picking on QPR but a striker of repute (they're not going to keep Remy) and they will probably be fine. The claret and blue triple I mentioned in the pre-season thread could be possible, and certainly WBA will be in the mix. Palace and Sunderland probably will be as well unless they can reproduce the potent streak from the end of last season.

Artur Boruc
Kelvin Davis
Paolo Gazzaniga

Jose Fonte
Maya Yoshida
Jos Hooiveld

Nathaniel Clyne

Morgan Schneiderlin
Victor Wanyama
Steven Davis
James Ward-Prowse
Jack Cork
Harrison Reed

Gaston Ramirez
Dusan Tadic

Jay Rodriguez
Graziano Pelle
Sam Gallacher
Pablo Osvaldo
Emmanuel Mayuka
Billy Sharp

-----------------Boruc-----------------
Clune-Hooiveld-Fonte-Yoshida
-----Wanyama-Cork-Davis-------
------WardProwse-Tadic----------
-----------------Pelle------------------

Definitely could do with some full backs, a new CB and another attacking midfielder. Would be worried about Pelle's goal scoring record outside of Italy as well.

Still think they'll easily do better than 5 or 6 sides.

Hooiveld is Dutch though, therefore almost certainly bff's with Koeman.

Full-backs and a new centre back are the must get for them. I've heard they also want Fraser Forster as a new goalkeeper, and certainly, he would be a good signing.

Everyone thought Palace were certain to be relegated last season, Hull didn't exactly have great odds of staying up either. Leicester and Burnley could stay up, you never know.

If I had to make a guess, i'd say West Brom, Hull and one of the promoted teams to go back down.

Gonna be interesting for them.

They've bought pretty well since they've been in the league and they're getting good fees for their players, probably out of the financial shitter now. Losing Schneiderlin as well would be a real blow but if they can keep him they've still got an ok core of players to work with in him, Ward-Prowse, Clyne, Rodriguez, Ramirez, Cork, Wanyama, Tadic, probably just need a centre back or two and they'll be fine.

Maybe some of Jack Stephens, Sam McQueen, Matt Targett, Harrison Reed etc. will become more regular in the first team too.

Ospina confirmed.

Surprised we were the only ones in for him, and at that fee too.

Southampton are fine for full backs, Chambers (won't move imo) and Targett are decent enough. If Schneiderlin goes, they're fucked though

The Chambers deal is all but done. Fee agreed and medical done.

Still a big risk chucking in Targett though. Most young players will begin to struggle after a bit as well. Such as Stirling and Januzaj after their initial impact. Need two more fullbacks for competition as well. (Assuming Chambers moves)

Weren't they saying Targett looked better than Shaw before they chucked Shaw in?

But yes - Chambers leaving leaves them with just him and Clyne, so at least one is still required.
