Improvement, definitely. Some poor individual displays again though.

Eventually we'll get there. Patience.

3-5-2

Lots of people complaining about it, but its not really the problem. The lack of pace between Mata-Rooney-RVP makes us easy to defend against, the lack of midfielders (read Fletcher) showing for the ball, and the lack of quality in the wing backs gives the defenders no ability to play our from the back so they either overplay it or hoof it in panic because no ones showing.

I'm really worried about us selling Welbeck, at some point LVG's got to admit that Rooney-RVP doesn't work and drop one of them. Neither of them made a particularly good case for being the one that should stay but at least RVP's touch looked better than league one standard.

Edit: Actually, after mid week most MK Dons players exhibited an excellent touch in comparison to Rooney's today, the comparison is disingenuous to them.

When was the last time Kompany was good?

EDIT: Oh it was Fernandinho that got skinned. Still, Kompany is overrated.

Fuck me we've scored from a corner.

Good to see Aarons scoring too... here's hoping we can get one of the big money buys on the sheet.

So, we're shit at taking set-pieces (Aarons' goal aside) and we clearly are incapable of defending them. What do they do in training for fuck's sake?

Going back to the Man Utd game, the formation may be 3-5-2 on paper, but in there you have 3 center backs which of course is fine, but just one central midfielder and then a mix of attacking midfielders, wingers and strikers. So clearly the formation is a problem and if they come up against a side of any quality playing like that they will be destroyed in midfield, luckily Burnley are absolutely awful and for me have no chance of staying up going by today's performance.

Nice happy debut for Sagna today too i see.

Not really. Di Maria did as much defensive work as anyone. You could easily play him there against top teams, as Real Madrid showed last season.

Pardew absolutely bottled it today imo. Picked the team to appease the fans.

Dummett has done well, dropped for Haidara, who immediately gives away a goal. Sissoko back centrally where he doesn't make any impact. De Jong and Cabella were awful as well. We basically didn't have any sort of midfield today. Colback was basically the midfield.
